Josué 22

BIBLIA	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Josué convocó a los rubenitas, a los gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés,	1 At the same time Josue called the Rubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasses,
2 y les dijo: «Habéis cumplido todo lo que os mandó Moisés, siervo de Yahveh, y habéis atendido a mis órdenes siempre que os he mandado algo.	2 And said to them: You have done all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you: you have also obeyed me in all things,
3 No habéis abandonado a vuestros hermanos durante tan largo tiempo hasta el día de hoy; habéis cumplido la orden que os encomendó Yahveh vuestro Dios.	3 Neither have you left your brethren this long time, until this present day, keeping the commandment of the Lord your God.
4 Ahora Yahveh vuestro Dios ha dado a vuestros hermnaos el descanso que les había prometido. Volveos, pues, e id a vuestras tiendas, a la tierra de vuestra propiedad, la que os dio Moisés, siervo de Yahveh, al otro lado del Jordán.	4 Therefore as the Lord your God hath given your brethren rest and peace, as he promised: return, and go to your dwellings, and to the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you beyond the Jordan:
5 Unicamente preocupaos de guardar el mandato y la Ley que os dio Moisés, siervo de Yahveh: que améis a Yahveh vuestro Dios, que sigáis siempre sus caminos, que guardéis sus mandamientos y os mantengáis unidos a él y le sirváis con todo vuestro corazón y con toda vuestra alma».	5 Yet so that you observe attentively, and in work fulfil the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you: that you love the Lord your God, and walk in all his ways, and keep all his commandments, and cleave to him, and serve him with all your heart, and with all your soul.
6 Josué los bendijo y los despidió, y ellos se fueron a sus tiendas.	6 And Josue blessed them, and sent them away, and they returned to their dwellings.
7 Moisés había dado a la media tribu de Manasés su parte en Basán; a la otra media se la dio Josué entre sus hermanos, al lado occidental del Jordán. Cuando los mandó Josué a sus tiendas, les dio la bendición	7 Now to half the tribe of Manasses, Moses had given a possession in Basan: and therefore to the half that remained, Josue gave a lot among the rest of their brethren beyond the Jordan to the west. And when he sent them away to their dwellings and had blessed them,
8 y les dijo: «Volvéis a vuestras tiendas con grandes riquezas, rebaños numerosos, plata, oro, bronce, hierro y gran cantidad de vestidos; repartid con vuestros hermanos el botín de vuestros enemigos».	8 He said to them : With much substance and riches, you return to your settlements, with silver and gold, brass and iron, and variety of raiment: divide the prey of your enemies with your brethren.
9 Los rubenitas y los gaditas, con la media tribu de Manasés, se volvieron y dejaron a los israelitas en Silo, en la tierra de Canaán, para volver a la tierra de Galaad, tierra de su propiedad donde se habían establecido según la orden de Yahveh dada por medio de Moisés.	9 So the children of Ruben, and the children of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasses returned, and parted from the children of Israel in Silo, which is in Chanaan, to go into Galaad the land of their possession, which they had obtained according to the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
10 Cuando llegaron a los circulos de piedras del Jordán, en tierra de Canaán, los rubenitas y los gaditas y la media tribu de Manasés levantaron allí un altar a orillas del Jordán, un altar de grandioso aspecto.	10 And when they were come to the banks of the Jordan, in the land of Chanaan, they built an altar immensely great near the Jordan.
11 Se enteraron los israelitas y dijeron: «Mirad, los rubenitas, los gaditas y la media tribu de Manasés han levantado ese altar, frente al país de Canaán, junto a los círculos de piedras del Jordán, del lado de los israelitas».	11 And when the children of Israel had heard of it, and certain messengers had brought them an account that the children of Ruben, and of Cad, and the half tribe of Manasses had built an altar in the land of Chanaan, upon the banks of the Jordan, over against the children of Israel:
12 Al oír esto los israelitas, se reunió en Silo toda la comunidad de los israelitas para hacerles guerra.	12 They all assembled in Silo, to go up and fight against them.
13 Los israelitas enviaron donde los rubenitas, los gaditas y la media tribu de Manasés, al país de Galaad, al sacerdote Pinjás, hijo de Eleazar	13 And in the mean time they sent to them into the land of Galaad, Phinees the son of Eleazar the priest,
14 y a diez principales con él, un principal por cada familia, por cada tribu de Israel: cada uno de ellos era cabeza de su familia en los clanes de Israel.	14 And ten princes with him, one of every tribe.
15 Cuando llegaron donde los rubenitas, los rubenitas, los gaditas y la media tribu de Manasés, al país de Galaad, les hablaron así:	15 Who came to the children of Ruben, and of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasses, into the land of Galaad, and said to them:
16 «Esto ha dicho toda la comunidad de Yahveh: ¿Qué significa esa prevaricación que habéis cometido contra el Dios de Israel, apartándoos hoy de Yahveh, al construiros un altar, rebelándoos hoy contra Yahveh?	16 Thus saith all the people of the Lord: What meaneth this transgression? Why have you forsaken the Lord the God of Israel, building a sacrilegious altar, and revolting from the worship of him?
17 «¿No teníamos bastante con el crimen de Peor, del que hoy todavía no hemos acabado de purificarnos, a pesar de que vino la plaga sobre la comunidad de Yahveh?	17 Is it a small thing to you that you sinned with Beelphegor, and the stain of that crime remaineth in us to this day? and many of the people perished.
18 Si vosotros hoy os apartáis de Yahveh, hoy os rebeláis vosotros contra Yahveh, y mañana se encenderá él contra toda la comunidad de Israel.	18 And you have forsaken the Lord to day, and to morrow his wrath will rage against all Israel.
19 «Ahora bien, si nos parece impura vuestra propiedad, pasad a la tierra de propiedad de Yahveh, donde ha fijado su morada, y estableceos entre nosotros. Pero no os rebeléis contra Yahveh, ni nos arrastréis en vuestra rebeldía al construiros un altar aparte del altar de Yahveh nuestro Dios.	19 But if you think the land of your possession to be unclean, pass over to the land wherein is the tabernacle of the Lord, and dwell among us: only depart not from the Lord, and from our society, by building an altar beside the altar of the Lord our God.
20 ¿No prevaricó Akán, hijo de Zéraj, en el anatema, y la Coléra alcanzó a toda la comunidad de Israel, aunque él no era más que un solo individuo? ¿No murió por su crimen?»	20 Did not Achan the son of Zare transgress the commandment of the Lord, and his wrath lay upon all the people of Israel? And he was but one man, and would to God he alone had perished in his wickedness.
21 Respondieron los rubenitas, los gaditas y la media tribu de Manasés y dijeron a los jefes de los clanes de Israel:	21 And the children of Ruben, and of Gad, and of the half tribe of Manasses answered the princes of the embassage of Israel:
22 «El Dios de los dioses, Yahveh, el Dios de los dioses, Yahveh, lo sabe bien, y que lo sepa también Israel: si ha habido por nuestra parte rebelión o prevaricación contra Yahveh, que no nos salve hoy;	22 The Lord the most mighty God, the Lord the most mighty God, he knoweth, and Israel also shall understand: If with the design of transgression we have set up this altar, let him not save us, but punish us immediately:
23 y si hemos levantado un altar para apartarnos de Yahveh y para ofrecer en él holocausto y oblación o para hacer sobre él sacrificios de comunión, que Yahveh nos lo demande.	23 And if we did it with that mind, that we might lay upon it holocausts, and sacrifice, and victims of peace offerings, let him require and judge:
24 En verdad, lo hemos hecho así por preocupación y razonadamente, diciéndonos: El día de mañana podrían decir vuestros hijos a los nuestros: “¿Qué tenéis que ver vosotros con Yahveh el Dios de Israel?	24 And not rather with this thought and design, that we should say: To morrow your children will say to our children: What have you to do with the Lord the God of Israel?
25 Yahveh ha puesto entre nosotros y vosotros, rubenitas y gaditas, la frontera del Jordán. No tenéis parte con Yahveh.” Así vuestros hijos harían que nuestros hijos dejaran de temer a Yahveh.	25 The Lord hath put the river Jordan for a border between us and you, O ye children of Ruben, and ye children of Gad: and therefore you have no part in the Lord. And by this occasion you children shall turn away our children from the fear of the Lord. We therefore thought, it best,
26 «Y nos hemos dicho: Vamos a construir este altar, pero no para holocaustos, ni sacrificios,	26 And said: Let us build us an altar, not for holocausts, nor to offer victims,
27 sino para que sea testigo entre nosotros y vosotros y entre nuestros descendientes después de nosotros, de que rendimos culto a Yahveh en su presencia con nuestros holocaustos, nuestras víctimas y nuestros sacrificios de comunión. Así no podrán decir mañana vuestros hijos a los nuestros: “No tenéis parte con Yahveh.”	27 But for a testimony between us and you, and our posterity and yours, that we may serve the Lord, and that we may have a right to offer both holocausts, and victims and sacrifices of peace offerings: and that your children to morrow may not say to our children: You have no part in the Lord.
28 No hemos dicho: Si llega a suceder que nos hablen así a nosotros o el día de mañana a nuestros descendientes, les podremos responder: “Mirad la edificación del altar de Yahveh que hicieron nuestros padres, no para ofrecer holocaustos ni sacrificios, sino como testigo entre nosotros y vosotros.”	28 And if they will say so, they shall answer them: Behold the altar of the Lord, which our fathers made, not for holocausts, nor for sacrifice, but for a testimony between us and you.
29 Lejos de nosotros rebelarnos contra Yahveh y desertar hoy de su servicio, levantando, para ofrecer en él holocaustos, oblaciones o sacrificios, un altar aparte del altar de Yahveh nuestro Dios erigido delante de su morada».	29 God keep us from any such wickedness that we should revolt from the Lord, and leave off following his steps, by building an altar to offer holocausts, and sacrifices, and victims, beside the altar of the Lord our God, which is erected before his tabernacle.
30 Cuando el sacerdote Pinjás, los principales de la comunidad y los jefes de los clanes de Israel que le acompañaban, oyeron las palabras pronunciadas por los gaditas, los rubenitas y los manasitas, les pareció bien.	30 And when Phinees the priest, and the princes of the embassage, who were with him, had heard this, they were satisfied: and they admitted most willingly the words of the children of Ruben, and Gad, and of the half tribe of Manasses.
31 Y el sacerdote Pinjás, hijo de Eleazar, dijo a los rubenitas, los gaditas y los manasitas: «Ahora reconocemos que Yahveh está en medio de nosotros, pues no habéis cometido tan grande prevaricación contra él. Así habéis salvado a los israelitas de la mano de Yahveh».	31 And Phinees the priest the son of Eleazar said to them: Now we know that the Lord is with us, because you are not guilty of this revolt, and you have delivered the children of Israel from the hand of the Lord.
32 El sacerdote Pinjás, hijo de Eleazar, y los principales, dejando a los rubenitas y a los gaditas, volvieron del país de Galaad al de Canaán, a donde los israelitas, y les dieron la respuesta.	32 And he returned with the princes from the children of Ruben and Gad, out of the land of Galaad, into the land of Chanaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.
33 La cosa pareció bien a los israelitas: los israelitas dieron gracias a Dios y no hablaron más de hacerles la guerra y devastar el territorio habitado por los rubenitas y los gaditas.	33 And the saying pleased all that heard it. And the children of Israel praised God, and they no longer said that they would go up against them, and fight, and destroy the land of their possession.
34 Los rubenitas y gaditas llamaron al altar..., porque decían: «Será testigo entre nosotros de que Yahveh es Dios».	34 And the children of Ruben, and the children of Cad called the altar which they had built, Our testimony, that the Lord is God.
