Daniel 9

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El año primero de Darío, hijo de Asuero, de la raza de los medos, que subió al trono del reino de Caldea,	1 It was the first year of Darius son of Artaxerxes, a Mede by race who assumed the throne of Chaldaea.
2 el año primero de su reinado, yo, Daniel, me puse a investigar en las Escrituras sobre el número de años que, según la palabra de Yahveh dirigida al profeta Jeremías, debían pasar sobre las ruinas de Jerusalén, a saber setenta años.	2 In the first year of his reign I, Daniel, was studying the scriptures, counting over the number of years --as revealed by Yahweh to the prophet Jeremiah -- that were to pass before the desolation of Jerusalem wouldcome to an end, namely seventy years.
3 Volví mi rostro hacia el Señor Dios para implorarle con oraciones y súplicas, en ayuno, sayal y ceniza.	3 I turned my face to the Lord God begging for time to pray and to plead, with fasting, sackcloth andashes.
4 Derramé mi oración a Yahveh mi Dios, y le hice esta confesión: «¡Ah, señor, Dios grande y temible, que guardas la Alianza y el amor a los que te aman y observan tus mandamientos.	4 I pleaded with Yahweh my God and made this confession: 'O my Lord, God great and to be feared, youkeep the covenant and show faithful love towards those who love you and who observe your commandments:
5 Nosotros hemos pecado, hemos cometido iniquidad, hemos sido malos, no hemos rebelado y nos hemos apartado de tus mandamientos y de tus normas.	5 we have sinned, we have done wrong, we have acted wickedly, we have betrayed yourcommandments and rulings and turned away from them.
6 No hemos escuchado a tus siervos los profetas que en tu nombre hablaban a nuestros reyes, a nuestros príncipes, a nuestros padres, a todo el pueblo de la tierra.	6 We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our chiefmen, our ancestors and al people of the country.
7 A ti, Señor, la justicia, a nosotros la vergüenza en el rostro, como sucede en este día, a nosotros, a los hombres de Judá, a los habitantes de Jerusalén y a Israel entero, próximos y lejanos, en todos los países donde tú los dispersaste a causa de las infidelidades que cometieron contra ti.	7 Saving justice, Lord, is yours; we have only the look of shame we wear today, we, the people of Judah,the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the whole of Israel, near and far away, in every country to which you havedispersed us because of the treachery we have committed against you.
8 Yahveh, a nosotros la vergüenza, a nuestros reyes, a nuestros príncipes, a nuestros padres, porque hemos pecado contra ti.	8 To us, our kings, our chief men and our ancestors, belongs the look of shame, O Yahweh, since wehave sinned against you.
9 Al Señor Dios nuestro, la piedad y el perdón, porque nos hemos rebelado contra él,	9 And it is for the Lord our God to have mercy and to pardon, since we have betrayed him,
10 y no hemos escuchado la voz de Yahveh nuestro Dios para seguir sus leyes, que él nos había dado por sus siervos los profetas.	10 and have not listened to the voice of Yahweh our God nor fol owed the laws he has given us throughhis servants the prophets.
11 Todo Israel ha transgredido tu ley, ha desertado sin querer escuchar tu voz, y sobre nosotros han caído la maldición y la imprecación escritas en la ley de Moisés, siervo de Dios, porque hemos pecado contra él.	11 The whole of Israel has flouted your Law and turned away, unwil ing to listen to your voice; and thecurse and imprecation written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have come pouring down on us, becausewe have sinned against him.
12 El ha cumplido las palabras que había pronunciado contra nosotros y contra los príncipes que nos gobernaban: que haría venir sobre nosotros una calamidad tan grande como no habría jamás bajo el cielo otra mayor que la que alcanzara a Jerusalén.	12 He has carried out the threats which he made against us and the chief men who governed us -- thathe would bring so great a disaster down on us that the fate of Jerusalem would find no paral el under al heaven.
13 Según está escrito en la ley de Moisés, toda esta calamidad nos ha sobrevenido, pero nosotros no hemos aplacado el rostro de Yahveh nuestro Dios, convirtiéndonos de nuestras iniquidades y aprendiendo a conocer tu verdad.	13 And now, as written in the Law of Moses, this whole calamity has befallen us; even so, we have notappeased Yahweh our God by renouncing our crimes and learning your truth.
14 Yahveh ha estado atento a esta calamidad, la ha descargado sobre nosotros. Porque es justo Yahveh nuestro Dios en todas las obras que ha hecho, pero nosotros no hemos escuchado su voz.	14 Yahweh has watched for the right moment to bring disaster on us, since Yahweh our God is just in allhis dealings with us, and we have not listened to his voice.
15 Y ahora, Señor Dios nuestro, que con mano fuerte sacaste a tu pueblo del país de Egipto y te granjeaste con ello un nombre que dura hasta el presente, nosotros hemos pecado, hemos sido malos.	15 And now, Lord our God, who by your mighty hand brought us out of Egypt -- the renown you won thenendures to this day -- we have sinned, we have done wrong.
16 Señor, por todas tus justicias, retira tu cólera y tu furor de Jerusalén, tu ciudad, monte santo tuyo; pues, a causa de nuestros pecados y de las iniquidades de nuestros padres, Jerusalén y tu pueblo son el escarnio de todos los que nos circundan.	16 Lord, by al your acts of saving justice, turn away your anger and your fury from Jerusalem, your city,your holy mountain, for as a result of our sins and the crimes of our ancestors, Jerusalem and your people areobjects of scorn to al who surround us.
17 Y ahora, oh Dios nuestro, escucha la oración de tu siervo y sus súplicas. Ilumine tu rostro tu santuario desolado, ¡por ti mismo, Señor!	17 And now, our God, listen to the prayer and pleading of your servant. For your own sake, Lord, let yourface smile again on your desolate sanctuary.
18 Inclina, Dios mío, tu oído y escucha. Abre tus ojos y mira nuestras ruinas y la ciudad sobre la cual se invoca tu nombre. No, no nos apoyamos en nuestras obras justas para derramar ante ti nuestras súplicas, sino en tus grandes misericordias.	18 Listen, my God, listen to us; open your eyes and look at our plight and at the city that bears yourname. Relying not on our upright deeds but on your great mercy, we pour out our plea to you.
19 ¡Señor, escucha! ¡Señor, perdona! ¡Señor, atiende y obra! ¡No tardes más, por ti mismo, Dios mío, pues tu nombre se invoca sobre tu ciudad y sobre tu pueblo».	19 Listen, Lord! Forgive, Lord! Hear, Lord, and act! For your own sake, my God, do not delay -- sinceyour city and your people alike bear your name.'
20 Todavía estaba yo hablando, haciendo mi oración, confesando mis pecados y los pecados de mi pueblo Israel, y derramando mi súplica ante Yahveh mi Dios, por el santo monte de mi Dios;	20 I was stil speaking, still at prayer, confessing my own sins and the sins of my people Israel, andplacing my plea before Yahweh my God for the holy mountain of my God,
21 aún estaba hablando en oración, cuando Gabriel, el personaje que yo había visto en visión al principio, vino volando donde mí a la hora de la oblación de la tarde.	21 still speaking, still at prayer, when Gabriel, the being I had originally seen in vision, swooped on me inful flight at the hour of the evening sacrifice.
22 Vino y me habló. Dijo: «Daniel, he salido ahora para ilustrar tu inteligencia.	22 He came, he spoke, he said to me, 'Now, Daniel; I have come down to teach you how to understand.
23 Desde el comienzo de tu súplica, una palabra se emitió y yo he venido a revelártela, porque tú eres el hombre de las predilecciones. Comprende la palabra, entiende la visión:	23 When your pleading began, a word was uttered, and I have come to tel you. You are a man speciallychosen. Grasp the meaning of the word, understand the vision:
24 Setenta semanas están fijadas sobre tu pueblo y tu ciudad santa para poner fin a la rebeldía, para sellar los pecados, para expiar la culpa, para instaurar justicia eterna, para sellar visión y profecía, para ungir el santo de los santos.	24 'Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and your holy city, for putting an end to transgression, forplacing the seal on sin, for expiating crime, for introducing everlasting uprightness for setting the seal on visionand on prophecy, for anointing the holy of holies.
25 «Entiende y comprende: Desde el instante en que salió la orden de volver a construir Jerusalén, hasta un Príncipe Mesías, siete semanas y sesenta y dos semanas, plaza y foso serán reconstruidos, pero en la angustia de los tiempos.	25 Know this, then, and understand: From the time there went out this message: "Return and rebuildJerusalem" to the coming of an Anointed Prince, seven weeks and sixty-two weeks, with squares and rampartsrestored and rebuilt, but in a time of trouble.
26 Y después de las sesenta y dos semanas un mesías será suprimido, y no habrá para él... y destruirá la ciudad y el santuario el pueblo de un príncipe que vendrá. Su fin será en un cataclismo y, hasta el final, la guerra y los desastres decretados.	26 And after the sixty-two weeks an Anointed One put to death without his . . . city and sanctuary ruinedby a prince who is to come. The end of that prince wil be catastrophe and, until the end, there wil be war and althe devastation decreed.
27 El concertará con muchos una firme alianza una semana; y en media semana hará cesar el sacrificio y la oblación, y en el ala del Templo estará la abominación de la desolación, hasta que la ruina decretada se derrame sobre el desolador».	27 He wil strike a firm al iance with many people for the space of a week; and for the space of one half-week he wil put a stop to sacrifice and oblation, and on the wing of the Temple will be the appal ing abominationuntil the end, until the doom assigned to the devastator.'
