| 1 Palabra dirigida a Jeremías de parte de Yahveh, luego que Nebuzaradán, jefe de la guardia, le dejó libre en Ramá, cuando le tomó aparte, estando él esposado con todos los deportados de Jerusalén y Judá que iban camino de Babilonia. | 1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he took him bound in chains along with all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah who were being exiled to Babylon. |
| 2 En efecto, el jefe de la guardia tomó aparte a Jeremías y le dijo: «Tu Dios Yahveh había predicho esta desgracia a este lugar, | 2 The captain of the guard took Jeremiah and said to him, "The LORD your God pronounced this evil against this place; |
| 3 y lo ha cumplido. Yahveh ha hecho conforme había predicho. Y esto os ha sucedido porque pecasteis contra Yahveh y no oísteis su voz. | 3 the LORD has brought it about, and has done as he said. Because you sinned against the LORD, and did not obey his voice, this thing has come upon you. |
| 4 Ahora bien, desde hoy te suelto las esposas de tus muñecas. Si te parece bien venirte conmigo a Babilonia, vente, y yo miraré por ti. Pero si te parece mal venirte conmigo a Babilonia, déjalo. Mira, tienes toda la tierra por delante; adonde mejor y más cómodo te parezca ir, vete». | 4 Now, behold, I release you today from the chains on your hands. If it seems good to you to come with me to Babylon, come, and I will look after you well; but if it seems wrong to you to come with me to Babylon, do not come. See, the whole land is before you; go wherever you think it good and right to go. |
| 5 Aún no había dado media vuelta cuando le dijo: «Vuelve adonde Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, hijo de Safán, a quien el rey de Babilonia ha encargado de las ciudades de Judá, y quédate a vivir con él entre esta gente. En suma, vete adonde mejor te acomode». Luego el jefe de la guardia le proporcionó algunos víveres y ayuda de costa y le despidió. | 5 If you remain, then return to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon appointed governor of the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go wherever you think it right to go." So the captain of the guard gave him an allowance of food and a present, and let him go. |
| 6 Jeremías, por su parte, vino al lado de Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, a Mispá, y se quedó a vivir con él entre la población que había quedado en el país. | 6 Then Jeremiah went to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, at Mizpah, and dwelt with him among the people who were left in the land. |
| 7 Todos los jefes de guerrilleros, así como sus hombres, oyeron cómo el rey de Babilonia había encargado del país a Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, y cómo le había encargado de los hombres, mujeres, niños y de aquella gente baja de la tierra, que no habían sido deportados a Babilonia, | 7 When all the captains of the forces in the open country and their men heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed to him men, women, and children, those of the poorest of the land who had not been taken into exile to Babylon, |
| 8 y fueron donde Godolías, a Mispá, Ismael, hijo de Netanías, Yojanán y Jonatán, hijo de Caréaj, Seraías, hijo de Tanjumet, los hijos de Efay el netofita y Yaazanías de Maaká en compañía de sus hombres. | 8 they went to Gedaliah at Mizpah--Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, Johanan the son of Kareah, Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, Jezaniah the son of the Ma-acathite, they and their men. |
| 9 Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, hijo de Safán, les hizo un juramento a ellos y a sus hombres: «No temáis ser siervos de los caldeos. Quedaos en el país y servid al rey de Babilonia, y os irá bien. | 9 Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, swore to them and their men, saying, "Do not be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you. |
| 10 Por mi parte, aquí me tenéis establecido en Mispá, para responder a los caldeos que vengan a nosotros; y vosotros cosechad vino, mieses y aceite, metedlo en vuestras vasijas, y vivid en las ciudades que hayáis recuperado». | 10 As for me, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand for you before the Chaldeans who will come to us; but as for you, gather wine and summer fruits and oil, and store them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that you have taken." |
| 11 También todos los judíos que había en Moab, entre los ammonitas, y en Edom, y los que había en todos los demás países oyeron que había dejado el rey de Babilonia un resto a Judá y que había encargado de él a Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, hijo de Safán. | 11 Likewise, when all the Jews who were in Moab and among the Ammonites and in Edom and in other lands heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant in Judah and had appointed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, as governor over them, |
| 12 Todos estos judíos regresaron de los distintos lugares adonde se habían refugiado y venidos al país de Judá, junto a Godolías, a Mispá, cosecharon vino y mieses en gran abundancia. | 12 then all the Jews returned from all the places to which they had been driven and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah at Mizpah; and they gathered wine and summer fruits in great abundance. |
| 13 Entonces Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj, y todos sus jefes de guerilleros vinieron adonde Godolías a Mispá | 13 Now Johanan the son of Kareah and all the leaders of the forces in the open country came to Gedaliah at Mizpah |
| 14 y le dijeron: «¿Sabes que Baalís, rey de los ammonitas, ha enviado a Ismael, hijo de Netanías, para asesinarte?» Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, no les dio crédito. | 14 and said to him, "Do you know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites has sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to take your life?" But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam would not believe them. |
| 15 Entonces Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj, dijo a Godolías secretamente en Mispá: «Ea, iré yo y asestaré el golpe a Ismael, hijo de Netanías, sin que nadie lo sepa. ¿Por qué tiene que asesinarte él a ti, lo que supondría la desbandada de todo Judá, apiñado en torno tuyo, y la pérdida del resto de Judá?» | 15 Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke secretly to Gedaliah at Mizpah, "Let me go and slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no one will know it. Why should he take your life, so that all the Jews who are gathered about you would be scattered, and the remnant of Judah would perish?" |
| 16 Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, replicó a Yojanán, hijo de Caréaj: «No hagas eso, porque es falso lo que dices de Ismael». | 16 But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said to Johanan the son of Kareah, "You shall not do this thing, for you are speaking falsely of Ishmael." |
