BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Entonces dijo David: «¡Aquí está la Casa de Yahveh Dios, y aquí el altar de los holocaustos para Israel!»	1 David then said, 'This is to be the house of Yahweh God and this the altar of burnt offering for Israel.'
2 Mandó, pues, David reunir a los forasteros residentes en la tierra de Israel, y designó canteros que preparasen piedras talladas para la construcción de la Casa de Dios.	2 David then gave orders for al foreigners in Israel to be rounded up, and appointed quarrymen to cutdressed stone for building the house of God.
3 Preparó también David hierro en abundancia para la clavazón de las hojas de las puertas y para las grapas, incalculable cantidad de bronce,	3 David also prepared great quantities of iron to make nails for the leaves of the doors and for theclamps, and more bronze than could be weighed,
4 y madera de cedro inmumerable, pues los sidonios y los tirios trajeron a David madera de cedro en abundancia.	4 as wel as innumerable cedar-wood logs, as the Sidonians and Tyrians had brought cedar logs toDavid in great quantities.
5 Porque David se decía: «Mi hijo Salomón es todavía joven y débil, y la Casa que ha de edificarse para Yahveh debe ser grandiosa sobre toda ponderación, para tener nombre y gloria en todos los países. Así que le haré yo los preparativos». Hizo David, en efecto, grandes preparativos antes de su muerte.	5 David then said, 'My son Solomon is young and immature, and the house to be built for Yahweh mustbe superlatively fine, the most famous and splendid in any country. I shal now make the preparations for it.' Andso, before he died, David made ample preparations.
6 Después llamó a su hijo Salomón y le mandó que edificase una Casa para Yahveh, el Dios de Israel.	6 He then summoned his son Solomon and commanded him to build a house for Yahweh, God of Israel.
7 Dijo David a Salomón: «Hijo mío, yo había deseado edificar una Casa al nombre de Yahveh, mi Dios.	7 'My son,' David said to Solomon, 'my heart was set on building a house for the name of Yahweh myGod.
8 Pero me fue dirigida la palabra de Yahveh, que me dijo: “Tú has derramado mucha sangre y hecho grandes guerras; no podrás edificar tú la Casa a mi nombre, porque has derramado en tierra mucha sangre delante de mí.	8 But the word of Yahweh came to me, "You have shed much blood and fought great wars; it is not foryou to build a house for my name, since you have shed much blood in my sight on earth.
9 Mira que te va a nacer un hijo, que será hombre de paz; le concederé paz con todos sus enemigos en derredor, porque Salomón será su nombre y en sus días concederé paz y tranquilidad a Israel.	9 Look, a son will be born to you. He will be a man of peace, and I shal give him peace from hisenemies on all sides; for Solomon is to be his name, and in his days I shal give Israel peace and tranquil ity.
10 El edificará una Casa a mi nombre; él será para mí un hijo y yo seré para él un padre y consolidaré el trono de su reino sobre Israel para siempre.”	10 He must build a house for my name; he wil be my son and I shall be his father, and I shall make thethrone of his kingdom secure over Israel for ever."
11 Ahora, pues, hijo mío, que Yahveh sea contigo, para que logres edificar la Casa de Yahveh tu Dios, como él de ti lo ha predicho.	11 Now, my son, may Yahweh be with you and give you success in building a house for Yahweh yourGod, as he has promised about you.
12 Quiera Yahveh concederte prudencia y entendimiento y darte órdemes sobre Israel, para que guardes la Ley de Yahveh tu Dios.	12 And especial y, may Yahweh give you discretion and discernment, may he give you his orders forIsrael, so that you may observe the Law of Yahweh your God.
13 No prosperarás si no cuidas de cumplir los decretos y las normas que Yahveh ha prescrito a Moisés para Israel. ¡Sé fuerte y ten buen ánimo! ¡No temas ni desmayes!	13 Success wil be yours, only if you observe the statutes and ordinances which Yahweh gave Mosesas regulations for Israel. Be strong and stand fast, be fearless, be dauntless.
14 Mira lo que yo he preparado en mi pequeñez para la Casa de Yahveh: 100.000 talentos de oro, un millón de talentos de plata y una cantidad de cobre y de hierro incalculable por su abundancia. He preparado también maderas y piedras que tú podrás aumentar.	14 Now, poor as I am, I have set aside for the house of Yahweh a hundred thousand talents of gold, amil ion talents of silver and more bronze and iron than can be weighed, there being so much. I have alsoprovided timber and stone, to which you may add more.
15 Y tienes a mano muchos obreros, canteros, artesanos en piedra y en madera, expertos en toda clase de obras.	15 Furthermore, you have a large number of workmen, quarrymen, masons, carpenters and al sorts ofcraftsmen for every kind of work,
16 El oro, la plata, el bronce y el el hierro son sin número. ¡Levántate, pues! Manos a la obra y que Yahveh sea contigo».	16 while your gold and silver, bronze and iron wil be beyond reckoning. Set to work, then, and mayYahweh be with you!'
17 Mandó David a todos los jefes de Israel que ayudasen a su hijo Salomón:	17 David then commanded al the leaders of Israel to help his son Solomon.
18 «¿No está con vosotros Yahveh vuestro Dios? ¿Y no os ha dado paz por todos lados? Pues él ha entregado en mis manos a los habitantes del país y el país está sujeto ante Yahveh y ante su pueblo.	18 'Has not Yahweh your God been with you and given you peace on al sides, having put theinhabitants of the country into my power and the country now having been subdued for Yahweh and his people?
19 Aplicad ahora vuestro corazón y vuestra alma a buscar a Yahveh vuestro Dios. Levantaos y edificad el santuario de Yahveh Dios, para trasladar el arca de la alianza de Yahveh y los utensilios del santuario de Dios a la Casa que ha de edificarse al Nombre de Yahveh».	19 So now devote heart and soul to searching for Yahweh your God. Set to and build the sanctuary ofYahweh God, so that you can bring the ark of the covenant of Yahweh and the holy vessels of God into thehouse built for the name of Yahweh.'
