1 Después de consultar David con los jefes de millar y de ciento y con todos los caudillos,	1 After David had taken counsel with his commanders of thousands and of hundreds, that is to say, with every one of his leaders,
2 dijo a toda la asamblea de Israel: «Si os parece bien y la cosa viene de Yahveh, nuestro Dios, vamos a mandar un mensaje a nuestros hermanos que han quedado a todas las regiones de Israel y, además, a los sacerdotes y levitas en sus ciudades y ejidos, para que se reúnan con nosotros;	2 he said to the whole assembly of Israel: "If it seems good to you, and is so decreed by the LORD our God, let us summon the rest of our brethren from all the districts of Israel, and also the priests and the Levites from their cities with pasture lands, that they may join us;
3 y volvamos a traer a nuestro lado el arca de nuestro Dios, ya que no nos hemos preocupado de ella desde los días de Saúl».	3 and let us bring the ark of our God here among us, for in the days of Saul we did not visit it."
4 Toda la asamblea resolvió hacerlo así, pues la propuesta pareció bien a todo el pueblo.	4 And the whole assembly agreed to do this, for the idea was pleasing to all the people.
5 Congregó entonces David a todo Israel, desde Sijor de Egipto hasta la Entrada de Jamat, para traer el arca de Dios desde Quiryat Yearim.	5 Then David assembled all Israel, from Shihor of Egypt to Labo of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
6 Fue, pues, David, con todo Israel, hacia Baalá, a Quiryat Yearim de Judá, para subir allí el arca del Dios que lleva el Nombre de Yahveh que está sobre los querubines.	6 David and all Israel went up to Baalah, that is, to Kiriath-jearim, of Judah, to bring back the ark of God, which was known by the name "LORD enthroned upon the cherubim."
7 Cargaron el arca de Dios en una carreta nueva y se la llevaron de la casa de Abinadab; Uzzá y Ajyó conducían la carreta.	7 They transported the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab; Uzzah and Ahio were guiding the cart,
8 David y todo Israel bailaban delante de Dios con todas sus fuerzas, cantando y tocando cítaras, salterios, adufes, címbalos y trompetas.	8 while David and all Israel danced before God with great enthusiasm, amid songs and music on lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.
9 Al llegar a la era de Kidón, extendió Uzzá su mano para sostener el arca, porque los bueyes amenazaban volcarla.	9 As they reached the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah stretched out his hand to steady the ark, for the oxen were upsetting it.
10 Se encendió contra Uzzá la ira de Yahveh y le hirió por haber extendido su mano hacia el arca; y Uzzá murió allí delante de Dios.	10 Then the LORD became angry with Uzzah and struck him; he died there in God's presence, because he had laid his hand on the ark.
11 Se irritó David porque Yahveh había castigado a Uzzá; y se llamó aquel lugar Peres de Uzzá hasta el día de hoy.	11 David was disturbed because the LORD'S anger had broken out against Uzzah. Therefore that place has been called Perez-uzza even to this day.
12 Y tuvo David aquel día miedo a Dios, y dijo: «¿Cómo voy a llevar a mi casa el arca de Dios»	12 David was now afraid of God, and he said, "How can I bring the ark of God with me?"
13 Y no trasladó David el arca de Dios a su casa, a la Ciudad de David, sino que la hizo llevar a la casa de Obededom de Gat.	13 Therefore he did not take the ark back with him to the City of David, but he took it instead to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
14 El arca de Dios habitó tres meses en la casa de Obededom. Y bendijo Yahveh la casa de Obededom y cuanto tenía.	14 The ark of God remained in the house of Obed-edom with his family for three months, and the LORD blessed Obed-edom's household and all that he possessed.
