1 Después de consultar David con los jefes de millar y de ciento y con todos los caudillos,	1 And David consulted with the captains of thousands, and of hundreds, and with all the commanders.
2 dijo a toda la asamblea de Israel: «Si os parece bien y la cosa viene de Yahveh, nuestro Dios, vamos a mandar un mensaje a nuestros hermanos que han quedado a todas las regiones de Israel y, además, a los sacerdotes y levitas en sus ciudades y ejidos, para que se reúnan con nosotros;	2 And he said to all the assembly of Israel: If it please you; and if the words which I speak come from the Lord our God, let us send to the rest of our brethren into all the countries of Israel, and to the priests, and the Levites, that dwell in the suburbs of the cities, to gather themselves to us,
3 y volvamos a traer a nuestro lado el arca de nuestro Dios, ya que no nos hemos preocupado de ella desde los días de Saúl».	3 And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we sought it not in the days of Saul.
4 Toda la asamblea resolvió hacerlo así, pues la propuesta pareció bien a todo el pueblo.	4 And all the multitude answered that it should be so: for the word pleased all the people.
5 Congregó entonces David a todo Israel, desde Sijor de Egipto hasta la Entrada de Jamat, para traer el arca de Dios desde Quiryat Yearim.	5 So David assembled all Israel from Sihor of Egypt, even to the entering into Emath, to bring the ark of God from Cariathiarim.
6 Fue, pues, David, con todo Israel, hacia Baalá, a Quiryat Yearim de Judá, para subir allí el arca del Dios que lleva el Nombre de Yahveh que está sobre los querubines.	6 And David went up with all the men of Israel to the hill of Cariathiarim which is in Juda, to bring thence the ark of the Lord God sitting upon the cherubims, where his name is called upon.
7 Cargaron el arca de Dios en una carreta nueva y se la llevaron de la casa de Abinadab; Uzzá y Ajyó conducían la carreta.	7 And they carried the ark of God upon a new cart, out of the house of Abinadab. And Oza and his brother drove the cart.
8 David y todo Israel bailaban delante de Dios con todas sus fuerzas, cantando y tocando cítaras, salterios, adufes, címbalos y trompetas.	8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might with hymns, and with harps, and with psalteries, and timbrels, and cymbals, and trumpets,
9 Al llegar a la era de Kidón, extendió Uzzá su mano para sostener el arca, porque los bueyes amenazaban volcarla.	9 And when they came to the floor of Chidon, Oza put forth his hand, to hold up the ark: for the ox being wanton had made it lean a little on one side.
10 Se encendió contra Uzzá la ira de Yahveh y le hirió por haber extendido su mano hacia el arca; y Uzzá murió allí delante de Dios.	10 And the Lord was angry with Oza, and struck him, because he had touched the ark; and he died there before the Lord.
11 Se irritó David porque Yahveh había castigado a Uzzá; y se llamó aquel lugar Peres de Uzzá hasta el día de hoy.	11 And David was troubled because the Lord had divided Oza: and he called that place the Breach of Oza to this day.
12 Y tuvo David aquel día miedo a Dios, y dijo: «¿Cómo voy a llevar a mi casa el arca de Dios»	12 And he feared God at that time, saying: How can I bring in the ark of God to me?
13 Y no trasladó David el arca de Dios a su casa, a la Ciudad de David, sino que la hizo llevar a la casa de Obededom de Gat.	13 And therefore he brought it not home to himself, that is, into the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gethite.
14 El arca de Dios habitó tres meses en la casa de Obededom. Y bendijo Yahveh la casa de Obededom y cuanto tenía.	14 And the ark of God remained in the house of Obededom three months: and the Lord blessed his house, and all that he had.
