SMITH VAN DYKE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 وكلم الرب موسى في برية سيناء في خيمة الاجتماع في اول الشهر الثاني في السنة الثانية لخروجهم من ارض مصر قائلا	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, in the desert of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the secondmonth, in the second year after the exodus from Egypt, and said:
2 احصوا كل جماعة بني اسرائيل بعشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء كل ذكر براسه	2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites by clans and families, taking a count of the namesof al the males, head by head.
3 من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب في اسرائيل. تحسبهم انت وهرون حسب اجنادهم.	3 You and Aaron wil register al those in Israel, twenty years of age and over, fit to bear arms, companyby company;
4 ويكون معكما رجل لكل سبط. رجل هو راس لبيت آبائه.	4 you wil have one man from each tribe, the head of his family, to help you.
5 وهذه اسماء الرجال الذين يقفون معكما. لرأوبين أليصور بن شديئور.	5 'These are the names of those who must help you: For Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur.
6 لشمعون شلوميئيل بن صور يشدّاي.	6 For Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.
7 ليهوذا نحشون بن عميناداب.	7 For Judah, Nahshon son of Amminadab.
8 ليساكر نثنائيل بن صوغر.	8 For Issachar, Nethanel son of Zuar.
9 لزبولون أليآب بن حيلون.	9 For Zebulun, Eliab son of Helon.
10 لابني يوسف لافرايم أليشمع بن عميهود ولمنسّى جمليئيل بن فدهصور.	10 Of the sons of Joseph: for Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud; for Manasseh, Gamaliel son ofPedahzur.
11 لبنيامين ابيدن بن جدعوني.	11 For Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni.
12 لدان أخيعزر بن عميشدّاي.	12 For Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai.
13 لأشير فجعيئيل بن عكرن.	13 For Asher, Pagiel son of Ochran.
14 لجاد ألياساف بن دعوئيل.	14 For Gad, Eliasaph son of Reuel.
15 لنفتالي اخيرع بن عينن.	15 For Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.'
16 هؤلاء هم مشاهير الجماعة رؤساء اسباط آبائهم. رؤوس الوف اسرائيل.	16 These were men of repute in the community; they were the leaders of their ancestral tribes, the headsof Israel's thousands.
17 فاخذ موسى وهرون هؤلاء الرجال الذين تعيّنوا باسمائهم.	17 Moses and Aaron took these men who had been named
18 وجمعا كل الجماعة في اول الشهر الثاني فانتسبوا الى عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا برؤوسهم	18 and on the first day of the second month they mustered the whole community. The Israelitesestablished their pedigrees by clans and families, and one by one the names of all men of twenty years and overwere recorded.
19 كما امر الرب موسى. فعدّهم في برية سيناء	19 As Yahweh had ordered, Moses registered them in the desert of Sinai.
20 فكان بنو رأوبين بكر اسرائيل تواليدهم حسب عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء برؤوسهم كل ذكر من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب	20 Once the pedigrees of the descendants of Reuben, Israel's first-born, had been established by clansand families, the names of all the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
21 كان المعدودون منهم لسبط رأوبين ستة واربعين الفا وخمس مئة	21 The total of these for the tribe of Reuben was forty-six thousand five hundred.
22 بنو شمعون تواليدهم حسب عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم المعدودون منهم بعدد الاسماء برؤوسهم كل ذكر من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب	22 Once the pedigrees of Simeon's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
23 المعدودون منهم لسبط شمعون تسعة وخمسون الفا وثلاث مئة	23 The total of these for the tribe of Simeon was fifty-nine thousand three hundred.
24 بنو جاد تواليدهم حسب عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب	24 Once the pedigrees of Gad's descendants had been established by clans and families, the names ofal the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
25 المعدودون منهم لسبط جاد خمسة واربعون الفا وست مئة وخمسون	25 The total of these for the tribe of Gad was forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.
26 بنو يهوذا تواليدهم حسب عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب	26 Once the pedigrees of Judah's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
27 المعدودون منهم لسبط يهوذا اربعة وسبعون الفا وست مئة	27 The total of these for the tribe of Judah was seventy-four thousand six hundred.
28 بنو يسّاكر تواليدهم حسب عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب	28 Once the pedigrees of Issachar's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
29 المعدودون منهم لسبط يسّاكر اربعة وخمسون الفا واربع مئة	29 The total of these for the tribe of Issachar was fifty-four thousand four hundred.
30 بنو زبولون تواليدهم حسب عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب	30 Once the pedigrees of Zebulun's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
31 المعدودون منهم لسبط زبولون سبعة وخمسون الفا واربع مئة	31 The total of these for the tribe of Zebulun was fifty-seven thousand four hundred.
32 بنو يوسف بنو افرايم تواليدهم حسب عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب	32 As regards the descendants of Joseph: once the pedigrees of Ephraim's descendants had beenestablished by clans and families, the names of all the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, wererecorded one by one.
33 المعدودون منهم لسبط افرايم اربعون الفا وخمس مئة	33 The total of these for the tribe of Ephraim was forty thousand five hundred.
34 بنو منسّى تواليدهم حسب عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب	34 Once the pedigrees of Manasseh's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
35 المعدودون منهم لسبط منسّى اثنان وثلاثون الفا ومئتان	35 The total of these for the tribe of Manasseh was thirty-two thousand two hundred.
36 بنو بنيامين تواليدهم حسب عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب	36 Once the pedigrees of Benjamin's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
37 المعدودون منهم لسبط بنيامين خمسة وثلاثون الفا واربع مئة	37 The total of these for the tribe of Benjamin was thirty-five thousand four hundred.
38 بنو دان تواليدهم حسب عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب	38 Once the pedigrees of Dan's descendants had been established by clans and families, the names ofal the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
39 المعدودون منهم لسبط دان اثنان وستون الفا وسبع مئة	39 The total of these for the tribe of Dan was sixty-two thousand seven hundred.
40 بنو اشير تواليدهم حسب عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب	40 Once the pedigrees of Asher's descendants had been established by clans and families, the namesof al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
41 المعدودون منهم لسبط اشير واحد واربعون الفا وخمس مئة	41 The total of these for the tribe of Asher was forty-one thousand five hundred.
42 بنو نفتالي تواليدهم حسب عشائرهم وبيوت آبائهم بعدد الاسماء من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب	42 Once the pedigrees of Naphtali's descendants had been established by clans and families, thenames of al the males of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were recorded one by one.
43 المعدودون منهم لسبط نفتالي ثلاثة وخمسون الفا واربع مئة	43 The total of these for the tribe of Naphtali was fifty-three thousand four hundred.
44 هؤلاء هم المعدودون الذين عدّهم موسى وهرون ورؤساء اسرائيل اثنا عشر رجلا رجل واحد لبيت آبائه	44 Such were the men registered by Moses, Aaron and the leaders of Israel, of whom there were twelve,each representing his family.
45 فكان جميع المعدودين من بني اسرائيل حسب بيوت آبائهم من ابن عشرين سنة فصاعدا كل خارج للحرب في اسرائيل	45 Al the Israelites of twenty years and over, fit to bear arms, were counted by families.
46 كان جميع المعدودين ست مئة الف وثلاثة آلاف وخمس مئة وخمسين.	46 Altogether, the total came to six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.
47 واما اللاويون حسب سبط آبائهم فلم يعدّوا بينهم	47 But the Levites and their tribes were not included in the count.
48 اذ كلم الرب موسى قائلا	48 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
49 اما سبط لاوي فلا تحسبه ولا تعدّه بين بني اسرائيل.	49 'Do not, however, take a census of the Levites, or register them with the other Israelites,
50 بل وكّل اللاويين على مسكن الشهادة وعلى جميع امتعته وعلى كل ما له. هم يحملون المسكن وكل امتعته وهم يخدمونه وحول المسكن ينزلون.	50 but enrol the Levites to take charge of the Dwel ing where the Testimony is and of al its furnishingsand belongings. They must carry the Dwel ing and al its furnishings; they must look after the Dwel ing and pitchtheir camp round it.
51 فعند ارتحال المسكن ينزله اللاويون وعند نزول المسكن يقيمه اللاويون والاجنبيّ الذي يقترب يقتل.	51 Whenever the Dwelling is moved, the Levites will dismantle it; whenever the Dwel ing stops for thenight, the Levites wil erect it. Any unauthorised person coming near it will be put to death.
52 وينزل بنو اسرائيل كلّ في محلته وكلّ عند رايته باجنادهم.	52 The Israelites wil pitch their tents, each in their own encampment and by their own standard,company by company,
53 واما اللاويون فينزلون حول مسكن الشهادة لكي لا يكون سخط على جماعة بني اسرائيل فيحفظ اللاويون شعائر مسكن الشهادة.	53 but the Levites wil pitch their tents round the Dwel ing where the Testimony is. In this way Retributionwil be kept from fal ing on the whole community of Israelites, and the Levites wil keep charge of the Dwel ing ofthe Testimony.'
54 ففعل بنو اسرائيل حسب كل ما امر الرب موسى. كذلك فعلوا	54 The Israelites did exactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses. They did as he said.
