1 Now the days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is called Passover, were approaching.	1 Estaba muy cerca la fiesta de los Ácimos llamada Pascua.
2 And the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, were seeking a way to execute Jesus. Yet truly, they were afraid of the people.	2 Y andaban buscando los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas cómo quitarlo de en medio, porque temían al pueblo.
3 Then Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariot, one of the twelve.	3 Entonces entró Satanás en Judas, llamado Iscariote, que era del número de los Doce,
4 And he went out and was speaking with the leaders of the priests, and the magistrates, as to how he might hand him over to them.	4 y se fue a tratar con los sumos sacerdotes y oficiales del templo el modo de entregárselo.
5 And they were glad, and so they made an agreement to give him money.	5 Ellos se alegraron y acordaron darle dinero.
6 And he made a promise. And he was seeking an opportunity to hand him over, apart from the crowds.	6 Él aceptó y buscaba una ocasión propicia para entregarlo sin la presencia del pueblo.
7 Then the day of Unleavened Bread arrived, on which it was necessary to kill the Pascal lamb.	7 Llegó, pues, el día de los Ácimos, en que se debía sacrificar la Pascua.
8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, “Go out, and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat.”	8 Y envió a Pedro y a Juan, diciéndoles: «Id a prepararnos la Pascua para que la comamos».
9 But they said, “Where do you want us to prepare it?”	9 Ellos le dijeron: «¿Dónde quieres que la preparemos?».
10 And he said to them: “Behold, as you are entering into the city, a certain man will meet you, carrying a pitcher of water. Follow him to the house into which he enters.	10 Y él les dijo: «Mirad, cuando entréis en la ciudad, os saldrá al paso un hombre llevando un cántaro de agua. Seguidlo hasta la casa en que entre
11 And you shall say to the father of the household: ‘The Teacher says to you: Where is the guestroom, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’	11 y diréis al dueño de la casa: “El Maestro te pregunta: ¿Dónde está la habitación en la que voy a comer la Pascua con mis discípulos?”.
12 And he will show you a large cenacle, fully furnished. And so, prepare it there.”	12 Él os mostrará en el piso superior una habitación grande amueblada con divanes. Preparadla allí».
13 And going out, they found it to be just as he had told them. And they prepared the Passover.	13 Fueron y lo encontraron como les había dicho y prepararon la Pascua.
14 And when the hour had arrived, he sat down at table, and the twelve Apostles with him.	14 Y cuando llegó la hora, se sentó a la mesa y los apóstoles con él
15 And he said to them: “With longing have I desired to eat this Passover with you, before I suffer.	15 y les dijo: «Ardientemente he deseado comer esta Pascua con vosotros, antes de padecer,
16 For I say to you, that from this time, I will not eat it, until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”	16 porque os digo que ya no la volveré a comer hasta que se cumpla en el reino de Dios».
17 And having taken the chalice, he gave thanks, and he said: “Take this and share it among yourselves.	17 Y, tomando un cáliz, después de pronunciar la acción de gracias, dijo: «Tomad esto, repartidlo entre vosotros;
18 For I say to you, that I will not drink from the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God arrives.”	18 porque os digo que no beberé desde ahora del fruto de la vid hasta que venga el reino de Dios».
19 And taking bread, he gave thanks and broke it and gave it to them, saying: “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this as a commemoration of me.”	19 Y, tomando pan, después de pronunciar la acción de gracias, lo partió y se lo dio diciendo: «Esto es mi cuerpo, que se entrega por vosotros; haced esto en memoria mía».
20 Similarly also, he took the chalice, after he had eaten the meal, saying: “This chalice is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you.	20 Después de cenar, hizo lo mismo con el cáliz diciendo: «Este cáliz es la nueva alianza en mi sangre, que es derramada por vosotros.
21 But in truth, behold, the hand of my betrayer is with me at table.	21 Pero mirad: la mano del que me entrega está conmigo, en la mesa.
22 And indeed, the Son of man goes according to what has been determined. And yet, woe to that man by whom he will be betrayed.”	22 Porque el Hijo del hombre se va, según lo establecido; pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien es entregado!».
23 And they began to inquire among themselves, as to which of them might do this.	23 Ellos empezaron a preguntarse unos a otros sobre quién de ellos podía ser el que iba a hacer eso.
24 Now there was also a contention among them, as to which of them seemed to be the greater.	24 Se produjo también un altercado a propósito de quién de ellos debía ser tenido como el mayor.
25 And he said to them: “The kings of the Gentiles dominate them; and those who hold authority over them are called beneficent.	25 Pero él les dijo: «Los reyes de las naciones las dominan, y los que ejercen la autoridad se hacen llamar bienhechores.
26 But it must not be so with you. Instead, whoever is greater among you, let him become the lesser. And whoever is the leader, let him become the server.	26 Vosotros no hagáis así, sino que el mayor entre vosotros se ha de hacer como el menor, y el que gobierna, como el que sirve.
27 For who is greater: he who sits at table, or he who serves? Is not he who sits at table? Yet I am in your midst as one who serves.	27 Porque ¿quién es más, el que está a la mesa o el que sirve? ¿Verdad que el que está a la mesa? Pues yo estoy en medio de vosotros como el que sirve.
28 But you are those who have remained with me during my trials.	28 Vosotros sois los que habéis perseverado conmigo en mis pruebas,
29 And I dispose to you, just as my Father has disposed to me, a kingdom,	29 y yo preparo para vosotros el reino como me lo preparó mi Padre a mí,
30 so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and so that you may sit upon thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”	30 de forma que comáis y bebáis a mi mesa en mi reino, y os sentéis en tronos para juzgar a las doce tribus de Israel.
31 And the Lord said: “Simon, Simon! Behold, Satan has asked for you, so that he may sift you like wheat.	31 Simón, Simón, mira que Satanás os ha reclamado para cribaros como trigo.
32 But I have prayed for you, so that your faith may not fail, and so that you, once converted, may confirm your brothers.”	32 Pero yo he pedido por ti, para que tu fe no se apague. Y tú, cuando te hayas convertido, confirma a tus hermanos».
33 And he said to him, “Lord, I am prepared to go with you, even to prison and to death.”	33 Él le dijo: «Señor, contigo estoy dispuesto a ir incluso a la cárcel y a la muerte».
34 And he said, “I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you have three times denied that you know me.” And he said to them,	34 Pero él le dijo: «Te digo, Pedro, que no cantará hoy el gallo antes de que tres veces hayas negado conocerme».
35 “When I sent you without money or provisions or shoes, did you lack anything?”	35 Y les dijo: «Cuando os envié sin bolsa, ni alforja, ni sandalias, ¿os faltó algo?». Dijeron: «Nada».
36 And they said, “Nothing.” Then he said to them: “But now, let whoever has money take it, and likewise with provisions. And whoever does not have these, let him sell his coat and buy a sword.	36 «Pero ahora, el que tenga bolsa, que la lleve consigo, y lo mismo la alforja; y el que no tenga espada, que venda su manto y compre una.
37 For I say to you, that what has been written must still be fulfilled in me: ‘And he was esteemed with the wicked.’ Yet even these things about me have an end.”	37 Porque os digo que es necesario que se cumpla en mí lo que está escrito: “Fue contado entre los pecadores”, pues lo que se refiere a mí toca a su fin».
38 So they said, “Lord, behold, there are two swords here.” But he said to them, “It is sufficient.”	38 Ellos dijeron: «Señor, aquí hay dos espadas». Él les dijo: «Basta».
39 And departing, he went out, according to his custom, to the Mount of Olives. And his disciples also followed him.	39 Salió y se encaminó, como de costumbre, al monte de los Olivos, y lo siguieron los discípulos.
40 And when he had arrived at the place, he said to them: “Pray, lest you enter into temptation.”	40 Al llegar al sitio, les dijo: «Orad, para no caer en tentación».
41 And he was separated from them by about a stone’s throw. And kneeling down, he prayed,	41 Y se apartó de ellos como a un tiro de piedra y, arrodillado, oraba
42 saying: “Father, if you are willing, take this chalice away from me. Yet truly, let not my will, but yours, be done.”	42 diciendo: «Padre, si quieres, aparta de mí este cáliz; pero que no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya».
43 Then an Angel appeared to him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in agony, he prayed more intensely;	43 Y se le apareció un ángel del cielo, que lo confortaba.
44 and so his sweat became like drops of blood, running down to the ground.	44 En medio de su angustia, oraba con más intensidad. Y le entró un sudor que caía hasta el suelo como si fueran gotas espesas de sangre.
45 And when he had risen up from prayer and had gone to his disciples, he found them sleeping out of sorrow.	45 Y, levantándose de la oración, fue hacia sus discípulos, los encontró dormidos por la tristeza,
46 And he said to them: “Why are you sleeping? Rise up, pray, lest you enter into temptation.”	46 y les dijo: «¿Por qué dormís? Levantaos y orad, para no caer en tentación».
47 While he was still speaking, behold, a crowd arrived. And he who is called Judas, one of the twelve, went ahead of them and approached Jesus, in order to kiss him.	47 Todavía estaba hablando, cuando apareció una turba; iba a la cabeza el llamado Judas, uno de los Doce. Y se acercó a besar a Jesús.
48 And Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you betray the Son of man with a kiss?”	48 Jesús le dijo: «Judas, ¿con un beso entregas al Hijo del hombre?».
49 Then those who were around him, realizing what was about to happen, said to him: “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”	49 Viendo los que estaban con él lo que iba a pasar, dijeron: «Señor, ¿herimos con la espada?».
50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.	50 Y uno de ellos hirió al criado del sumo sacerdote y le cortó la oreja derecha.
51 But in response, Jesus said, “Permit even this.” And when he had touched his ear, he healed him.	51 Jesús intervino diciendo: «Dejadlo, basta». Y, tocándole la oreja, lo curó.
52 Then Jesus said to the leaders of the priests, and the magistrates of the temple, and the elders, who had come to him: “Have you gone out, as if against a thief, with swords and clubs?	52 Jesús dijo a los sumos sacerdotes y a los oficiales del templo, y a los ancianos que habían venido contra él: «¿Habéis salido con espadas y palos como en busca de un bandido?
53 When I was with you each day in the temple, you did not extend your hands against me. But this is your hour and that of the power of darkness.”	53 Estando a diario en el templo con vosotros, no me prendisteis. Pero esta es vuestra hora y la del poder de las tinieblas».
54 And apprehending him, they led him to the house of the high priest. Yet truly, Peter followed at a distance.	54 Después de prenderlo, se lo llevaron y lo hicieron entrar en casa del sumo sacerdote. Pedro lo seguía desde lejos.
55 Now as they were sitting around a fire, which had been kindled in the middle of the atrium, Peter was in their midst.	55 Ellos encendieron fuego en medio del patio, se sentaron alrededor, y Pedro estaba sentado entre ellos.
56 And when a certain woman servant had seen him sitting in its light, and had looked at him intently, she said, “This one was also with him.”	56 Al verlo una criada sentado junto a la lumbre, se lo quedó mirando y dijo: «También este estaba con él».
57 But he denied him by saying, “Woman, I do not know him.”	57 Pero él lo negó diciendo: «No lo conozco, mujer».
58 And after a little while, another one, seeing him, said, “You also are one of them.” Yet Peter said, “O man, I am not.”	58 Poco después, lo vio otro y le dijo: «Tú también eres uno de ellos». Pero Pedro replicó: «Hombre, no lo soy».
59 And after the interval of about one hour had passed, someone else affirmed it, saying: “Truly, this one also was with him. For he is also a Galilean.”	59 Y pasada cosa de una hora, otro insistía diciendo: «Sin duda, este también estaba con él, porque es galileo».
60 And Peter said: “Man, I do not know what you are saying.” And at once, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.	60 Pedro dijo: «Hombre, no sé de qué me hablas». Y enseguida, estando todavía él hablando, cantó un gallo.
61 And the Lord turned around and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord that he had said: “For before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”	61 El Señor, volviéndose, le echó una mirada a Pedro, y Pedro se acordó de la palabra que el Señor le había dicho: «Antes de que cante hoy el gallo, me negarás tres veces».
62 And going out, Peter wept bitterly.	62 Y, saliendo afuera, lloró amargamente.
63 And the men who were holding him ridiculed him and beat him.	63 Y los hombres que tenían preso a Jesús se burlaban de él, dándole golpes.
64 And they blindfolded him and repeatedly struck his face. And they questioned him, saying: “Prophesy! Who is it that struck you?”	64 Y, tapándole la cara, le preguntaban diciendo: «Haz de profeta: ¿quién te ha pegado?».
65 And blaspheming in many other ways, they spoke against him.	65 E, insultándolo, proferían contra él otras muchas cosas.
66 And when it was daytime, the elders of the people, and the leaders of the priests, and the scribes convened. And they led him into their council, saying, “If you are the Christ, tell us.”	66 Cuando se hizo de día, se reunieron los ancianos del pueblo, con los jefes de los sacerdotes y los escribas; lo condujeron ante su Sanedrín,
67 And he said to them: “If I tell you, you will not believe me.	67 y le dijeron: «Si tú eres el Mesías, dínoslo». Él les dijo: «Si os lo digo, no lo vais a creer;
68 And if I also question you, you will not answer me. Neither will you release me.	68 y si os pregunto, no me vais a responder.
69 But from this time, the Son of man will be sitting at the right hand of the power of God.”	69 Pero, desde ahora, el Hijo del hombre estará sentado a la derecha del poder de Dios».
70 Then they all said, “So you are the Son of God?” And he said. “You are saying that I am.”	70 Dijeron todos: «Entonces, ¿tú eres el Hijo de Dios?». Él les dijo: «Vosotros lo decís, yo lo soy».
71 And they said: “Why do we still require testimony? For we have heard it ourselves, from his own mouth.”	71 Ellos dijeron: «¿Qué necesidad tenemos ya de testimonios? Nosotros mismos lo hemos oído de su boca».
