Psalms 108

1 Unto the end. A Psalm of David.	1 Ao mestre de canto. Salmo de Davi. Ó Deus de meu louvor, não fiqueis insensível,
2 O God, do not be silent toward my praise, for the mouth of the sinner and the mouth of the deceitful one have been opened against me.	2 porque contra mim se abriu boca ímpia e pérfida.
3 They have spoken against me with deceitful tongues, and they have surrounded me with hateful words, and they fought against me over nothing.	3 Falaram-me com palavras mentirosas, com discursos odiosos me envolveram; e sem motivo me atacaram.
4 Instead of choosing to act on my behalf, they detracted me. But I gave myself to prayer.	4 Em resposta ao meu afeto me acusaram. Eu, porém, orava.
5 And they set evil against me, instead of good, and hatred, in return for my love.	5 Pagaram-me o bem com o mal, e o amor com o ódio.
6 Establish the sinner over him, and let the devil stand at his right hand.	6 Suscitai contra ele um ímpio, levante-se à sua direita um acusador.
7 When he is judged, may he go forth in condemnation, and may his prayer be counted as sin.	7 Quando o julgarem, saia condenado, e sem efeito o seu recurso.
8 May his days be few, and let another take his episcopate.	8 Sejam abreviados os seus dias, tome outro o seu encargo.
9 May his sons be orphans, and his wife a widow.	9 Fiquem órfãos os seus filhos, e viúva a sua esposa.
10 May his sons be carried by those who walk unsteadily, and may they go begging. And may they be cast out of their dwelling places.	10 Andem errantes e mendigos os seus filhos, expulsos de suas casas devastadas.
11 May the money lenders scrutinize all his belongings, and let foreigners plunder his labors.	11 Arrebate o credor todos os seus bens, estrangeiros pilhem o fruto de seu trabalho.
12 May there be no one to assist him, nor anyone to be compassionate to his orphaned children.	12 Ninguém lhes tenha misericórdia, nem haja quem se condoa de seus órfãos.
13 May his posterity be in utter ruin. In one generation, may his name be wiped away.	13 Exterminada seja a sua descendência, extinga-se o seu nome desde a segunda geração.
14 May the iniquity of his fathers return in memory before the sight of the Lord, and do not let the sin of his mother be wiped away.	14 Conserve o Senhor a lembrança da culpa de seus pais, jamais se apague o pecado de sua mãe.
15 May these be opposite the Lord always, but let their memory perish from the earth.	15 Deus os tenha sempre presentes na memória, e risque-se da terra a sua lembrança,
16 For certain things are not remembered about them, in order to be merciful.	16 porque jamais pensou em ter misericórdia, mas perseguiu o pobre e desvalido e teve ódio mortal ao homem de coração abatido.
17 And so the destitute man was pursued, with the beggar and the remorseful in heart, so as to be put to death.	17 Amou a maldição: que ela caia sobre ele! Recusou a bênção: que ela o abandone!
18 And he loved a curse, and it came to him. And he was unwilling to have a blessing, and it went far from him. And he clothed himself with curses like a garment, and it entered his inner self like water, and it entered his bones like oil.	18 Seja coberto de maldição como de um manto: que ela penetre em suas entranhas como água e se infiltre em seus ossos como óleo.
19 May it be to him like a garment that covers him, and like a belt that always cinches him.	19 Seja-lhe como a veste que o cobre, como um cinto que o cinja para sempre.
20 This is the work of those who detract me with the Lord and who speak evils against my soul.	20 Esta, a paga do Senhor àqueles que me acusam e que só dizem mal de mim.
21 But as for you, Lord, O Lord: act on my behalf for your name’s sake. For your mercy is sweet.	21 Mas vós, Senhor Deus, tratai-me segundo a honra de vosso nome. Salvai-me em nome de vossa benigna misericórdia,
22 Free me, for I am destitute and poor, and my heart has been disquieted within me.	22 porque sou pobre e miserável; trago, dentro de mim, um coração ferido.
23 I have been taken away like a shadow when it declines, and I have been shaken off like locusts.	23 Vou-me extinguindo como a sombra da tarde que declina, sou levado para longe como o gafanhoto.
24 My knees have been weakened by fasting, and my flesh has been replaced by oil.	24 Vacilam-me os joelhos à força de jejuar, e meu corpo se definha de magreza.
25 And I have become a disgrace to them. They saw me, and they shook their heads.	25 Fizeram-me objeto de escárnio, abanam a cabeça ao me ver.
26 Help me, O Lord, my God. Save me according to your mercy.	26 Ajudai-me, Senhor, meu Deus. Salvai-me segundo a vossa misericórdia.
27 And let them know that this is your hand, and that you, O Lord, have done this.	27 Que reconheçam aqui a vossa mão, e saibam que fostes vós que assim fizestes.
28 They will curse, and you will bless. May those who rise up against me be confounded. But your servant will rejoice.	28 Enquanto amaldiçoam, abençoai-me. Sejam confundidos os que se insurgem contra mim, e que vosso servo seja cumulado de alegria.
29 May those who detract me be clothed with shame, and may they be covered with their confusion, as if with a double cloak.	29 Cubram-se de ignomínia meus detratores, e envolvam-se de vergonha como de um manto.
30 I will confess exceedingly to the Lord with my mouth. And I will praise him in the midst of the multitude.	30 Celebrarei altamente o Senhor, e o louvarei em meio à multidão,
31 For he stands at the right hand of the poor, in order to save my soul from persecutors.	31 porque ele se pôs à direita do pobre, para o salvar dos que o condenam.
