Psalms 108

1 Unto the end. A Psalm of David.	1 (Per la fine. Salmo di David).
2 O God, do not be silent toward my praise, for the mouth of the sinner and the mouth of the deceitful one have been opened against me.	2 O Dio, non tacere la mia lode, perchè la bocca dell'empio e quella dell'ingannatore sta spalancata contro di me.
3 They have spoken against me with deceitful tongues, and they have surrounded me with hateful words, and they fought against me over nothing.	3 Han parlato contro di me con lingua bugiarda, con parole d'odio m'han circondato, e mi hanno attaccato senza motivo.
4 Instead of choosing to act on my behalf, they detracted me. But I gave myself to prayer.	4 Invece di amarmi van dicendo male di me, ma io non fo che pregare.
5 And they set evil against me, instead of good, and hatred, in return for my love.	5 M'hanno reso male per bene e odio per amore.
6 Establish the sinner over him, and let the devil stand at his right hand.	6 Mettilo sotto il potere d'un empio, e il diavolo gli stia alla destra.
7 When he is judged, may he go forth in condemnation, and may his prayer be counted as sin.	7 Quando è giudicato ne esca condannato, e la sua preghiera gli diventi peccato.
8 May his days be few, and let another take his episcopate.	8 Sian pochi i suoi giorni, e la sua carica l'abbia un altro.
9 May his sons be orphans, and his wife a widow.	9 Divengano orfani i suoi figli e vedova la sua moglie.
10 May his sons be carried by those who walk unsteadily, and may they go begging. And may they be cast out of their dwelling places.	10 I suoi figli vadan raminghi a mendicare e sian cacciati dalie loro abitazioni,
11 May the money lenders scrutinize all his belongings, and let foreigners plunder his labors.	11 L'usuraio ne scruti tutti gli averi, ed estranei dilapidino le sue fatiche.
12 May there be no one to assist him, nor anyone to be compassionate to his orphaned children.	12 Non vi sia chi l'aiuti, nè chi abbia pietà degli orfani di lui.
13 May his posterity be in utter ruin. In one generation, may his name be wiped away.	13 La sua progenie vada distrutta: in una sola generazione sia cancellato il suo nome.
14 May the iniquity of his fathers return in memory before the sight of the Lord, and do not let the sin of his mother be wiped away.	14 Torni ad essere ricordata davanti a Dio l'iniquità dei suoi padri, e il peccato di sua madre non sia cancellato.
15 May these be opposite the Lord always, but let their memory perish from the earth.	15 Sian sempre contro il Signore, sparisca dalla terra il loro ricordo,
16 For certain things are not remembered about them, in order to be merciful.	16 Perchè egli non si è ricordato d'usare misericordia.
17 And so the destitute man was pursued, with the beggar and the remorseful in heart, so as to be put to death.	17 Ha perseguitato il povero e il mendico, l'affranto di cuore, pei farlo morire.
18 And he loved a curse, and it came to him. And he was unwilling to have a blessing, and it went far from him. And he clothed himself with curses like a garment, and it entered his inner self like water, and it entered his bones like oil.	18 Ha amato la maledizione, e gli verrà addosso; non ha voluto la benedizione e starà da lui lontana. S'è ravvolto nella maledizione come in una veste, essa è entrata come acqua nelle sue viscere è penetrata come olio nelle sue ossa.
19 May it be to him like a garment that covers him, and like a belt that always cinches him.	19 Gli sia essa come la veste di cui si copre, e come la cintura che porta continuamente.
20 This is the work of those who detract me with the Lord and who speak evils against my soul.	20 Questa sia davanti a Dio là paga di coloro che parlano male di me, e parlano di inali contro l'anima mia.
21 But as for you, Lord, O Lord: act on my behalf for your name’s sake. For your mercy is sweet.	21 E tu, o Signore, o Signore, agisci meco per amor del tuo nome, perchè la tua misericordia è soave.
22 Free me, for I am destitute and poor, and my heart has been disquieted within me.	22 Liberami, perchè io sono bisognoso e povero, e ho dentro di me turbato il mio cuore.
23 I have been taken away like a shadow when it declines, and I have been shaken off like locusts.	23 Come ombra che va declinando, io svanisco, sono scosso via teme locusta
24 My knees have been weakened by fasting, and my flesh has been replaced by oil.	24 Le mie ginocchia son indebolite dal digiuno, e la mia carne è sfigurata per mancanza di grasso.
25 And I have become a disgrace to them. They saw me, and they shook their heads.	25 Son diventato il loro ludibrio, al vedermi scuotono la testa.
26 Help me, O Lord, my God. Save me according to your mercy.	26 Aiutami, o Signore Dio mio, salvami secondo la tua misericordia.
27 And let them know that this is your hand, and that you, O Lord, have done this.	27 E sappiano che in questo c'è la tua mano, e che questa cosa è stata fatta da te, o Signore.
28 They will curse, and you will bless. May those who rise up against me be confounded. But your servant will rejoice.	28 Essi malediranno e tu benedirai: siano confusi quelli che insorgono contro di me, e ne gioirà il tuo servo.
29 May those who detract me be clothed with shame, and may they be covered with their confusion, as if with a double cloak.	29 Sian coperti di onta quelli che dicono male di me, siano ravvolti nella loro confusione come in doppio mantello.
30 I will confess exceedingly to the Lord with my mouth. And I will praise him in the midst of the multitude.	30 Celebrerò altamente il Signore colla mia bocca, e gli darò lode in mezzo alla folla;
31 For he stands at the right hand of the poor, in order to save my soul from persecutors.	31 Perchè Egli s'è messo alla destra del povero, per salvare l'anima mia dai persecutori.
