1 The Philistines mustered al their forces at Aphek while the Israelites pitched camp near the spring inJezreel.	1 E tutte le compagnie de' Filistei si raunarono in Afec; e Israel puose campo sopra la fonte la quale era in Iezrael.
2 The Philistine commanders marched past with their hundreds and their thousands, and David and hismen brought up the rear with Achish.	2 E i capitani de' Filistei andavano con loro centinaia e con loro migliaia; e David e i suoi uomini erano con Achis nella ultima schiera.
3 The Philistine chiefs asked, 'What are these Hebrews doing?' Achish replied to them, 'Why, this isDavid the servant of Saul, king of Israel, who has been with me for the last year or two. I have had no fault to findwith him from the day he gave himself up to me until the present time.'	3 E i principi de' Filistei dissero ad Achis: che vogliono questi Ebrei? E Achis disse loro: non conoscete voi David, il quale fu servo di Saul re d'Israel, ed è con esso meco già fa più tempo? In lui non trovai anco già cosa ria, dal dì che fuggì a me insino al dì presente.
4 But the Philistine chiefs were angry with him. 'Send the man back,' they said, 'make him go back to theplace which you assigned to him. He cannot go into battle with us, in case he turns on us once battle is joined.Would there be a better way for the man to regain his master's favour than with the heads of these men here?	4 E i principi de' Filistei si adirarono contro a lui, e dissero; ritornisi questo uomo, e istia nel luogo nel quale tu gli hai ordinato, e non discenda con esso noi alla battaglia, (e non sia nostro consigliere) acciò che non ci sia avversario quando avremo cominciato a combattere: e come potrà altrimenti umiliare il suo signore, se non ne' nostri capi?
5 Is not this the David of whom they sang as they danced: Saul has kil ed his thousands, and David histens of thousands'?	5 Non è questo David, allo quale nei balli cantavano, dicendo: Saul ne percosse mille, e David X milia?
6 So Achish called David and said, 'As Yahweh lives, you are loyal, and I am quite content with al yourdoings in our campaigning together, since I have found no fault with you from the day you came to me until thepresent time. But you are not acceptable to the chiefs.	6 Onde che Achis chiamò David, e disse: vive il Signore, che nel mio cospetto tu se' buono e diritto; e lo entramento e l'uscimento tuo nel campo si è con esso meco; e non ho trovato [in te] cosa veruna di male, dal dì che tu venisti a me insino al dì presente; ma ai capitani pur non piaci tu.
7 So go home, in peace, rather than antagonise them.'	7 Onde ritòrnati e va in pace, acciò che tu non turbi gli occhii de' capitani de' Filistei.
8 'But what have I done,' David asked Achish, 'what fault have you had to find with your servant from theday I entered your service to the present time, for me not to be al owed to go and fight the enemies of my lordthe king?'	8 E David disse ad Achis: e che ho io fatto, e che hai tu trovato in me, tuo servo, dal dì ch' io fui nel tuo cospetto insino ad oggi, ch' io non venga e combatta contro i nemici del mio signore?
9 In reply, Achish said to David, 'In my opinion, it is true, you are as good as an angel of God; but thePhilistine chiefs have said, "He must not go into battle with us."	9 E rispondendo Achis disse: io so che ne' miei occhii tu se' buono come l'angelo di Dio; [ma]i principi de' Filistei dissero non vegna con esso noi alla battaglia.
10 So get up early tomorrow morning, with your master's servants who came with you, and go to theplace which I assigned to you. Do not harbour resentment, since personal y I have no fault to find with you. Getup early tomorrow morning and, as soon as it is light, be off.'	10 Però levera'ti domattina, tu e i servi del tuo signore i quali sono teco; e lievàti di notte, e cominciato il dì, ve n' andate.
11 So David and his men got up early to leave at dawn and go back to Philistine territory. And thePhilistines marched on Jezreel.	11 Onde David si levò di notte, egli e gli uomini suoi, per andarsene la mattina, e ritornarsi alla terra de' Filistei; e i Filistei ascenderono in Iezrael.
