NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 The Philistines mustered al their forces at Aphek while the Israelites pitched camp near the spring inJezreel.	1 Les Philistins concentrèrent toutes leurs troupes à Apheq, tandis que les Israélites campaient à lasource qui est en Yizréel.
2 The Philistine commanders marched past with their hundreds and their thousands, and David and hismen brought up the rear with Achish.	2 Les princes des Philistins défilaient par centuries et par milliers, et David et ses hommesdéfilaient les derniers avec Akish.
3 The Philistine chiefs asked, 'What are these Hebrews doing?' Achish replied to them, 'Why, this isDavid the servant of Saul, king of Israel, who has been with me for the last year or two. I have had no fault to findwith him from the day he gave himself up to me until the present time.'	3 Les princes des Philistins demandèrent: "Qu'est-ce que ces Hébreux", et Akish répondit auxprinces des Philistins: "Mais c'est David, le serviteur de Saül; roi d'Israël! Voici un an ou deux qu'il est avec moiet je n'ai trouvé aucun reproche à lui faire depuis le jour qu'il s'est rendu à moi jusqu'à maintenant."
4 But the Philistine chiefs were angry with him. 'Send the man back,' they said, 'make him go back to theplace which you assigned to him. He cannot go into battle with us, in case he turns on us once battle is joined.Would there be a better way for the man to regain his master's favour than with the heads of these men here?	4 Les princes des Philistins s'emportèrent contre lui et ils lui dirent: "Renvoie cet homme et qu'ilretourne au lieu que tu lui as assigné. Qu'il ne vienne pas en guerre avec nous et ne se retourne pas contre nousdans le combat! Comment celui-là achèterait-il la faveur de son maître, sinon avec la tête des hommes que voici?
5 Is not this the David of whom they sang as they danced: Saul has kil ed his thousands, and David histens of thousands'?	5 N'est-il pas ce David, duquel on chantait dans les choeurs: "Saül à tué ses milliers et David sesmyriades?"
6 So Achish called David and said, 'As Yahweh lives, you are loyal, and I am quite content with al yourdoings in our campaigning together, since I have found no fault with you from the day you came to me until thepresent time. But you are not acceptable to the chiefs.	6 Akish appela donc David et lui dit: "Aussi vrai que Yahvé est vivant, tu es loyal et il me plairaitque tu sortes et rentres avec moi dans le camp, car je n'ai rien trouvé de mauvais en toi depuis le jour que tu esvenu chez moi jusqu'à maintenant. Mais tu n'es pas bien vu des princes.
7 So go home, in peace, rather than antagonise them.'	7 Donc retourne et va-t'en en paix, pour ne pas indisposer les princes des Philistins."
8 'But what have I done,' David asked Achish, 'what fault have you had to find with your servant from theday I entered your service to the present time, for me not to be al owed to go and fight the enemies of my lordthe king?'	8 David dit à Akish: "Qu'ai-je donc fait et qu'as-tu à reprocher à ton serviteur depuis le jour où jesuis entré à ton service jusqu'à maintenant, pour que je ne puisse pas venir et combattre les ennemis deMonseigneur le roi?"
9 In reply, Achish said to David, 'In my opinion, it is true, you are as good as an angel of God; but thePhilistine chiefs have said, "He must not go into battle with us."	9 Akish répondit à David: "C'est vrai que tu m'es aussi agréable qu'un ange de Dieu, seulement lesprinces des Philistins ont dit: Il ne faut pas qu'il aille au combat avec nous.
10 So get up early tomorrow morning, with your master's servants who came with you, and go to theplace which I assigned to you. Do not harbour resentment, since personal y I have no fault to find with you. Getup early tomorrow morning and, as soon as it is light, be off.'	10 Donc lève-toi de bon matin avec les serviteurs de ton maître qui sont venus avec toi, et allez àl'endroit que je vous ai assigné. Ne garde en ton coeur aucun ressentiment, car tu m'es agréable. Vous vouslèverez de grand matin et, dès qu'il fera jour, vous partirez."
11 So David and his men got up early to leave at dawn and go back to Philistine territory. And thePhilistines marched on Jezreel.	11 David et ses hommes se levèrent de bonne heure pour partir dès le matin et retourner au paysphilistin. Quant aux Philistins, ils montèrent en Yizréel.
