1 The Philistines mustered al their forces at Aphek while the Israelites pitched camp near the spring inJezreel.	1 Összegyűlt tehát a filiszteusok valamennyi serege Áfeknél, és Izrael is tábort ütött a Jezreel mellett levő forrásnál.
2 The Philistine commanders marched past with their hundreds and their thousands, and David and hismen brought up the rear with Achish.	2 Felvonultak a filiszteusok fejedelmei századaikkal és ezredeikkel és Dávid és emberei is felvonultak az utolsó csapatban Ákissal.
3 The Philistine chiefs asked, 'What are these Hebrews doing?' Achish replied to them, 'Why, this isDavid the servant of Saul, king of Israel, who has been with me for the last year or two. I have had no fault to findwith him from the day he gave himself up to me until the present time.'	3 Azt mondták ekkor a filiszteusok fejedelmei Ákisnak: »Mit keresnek itt ezek a héberek?« Azt mondta erre Ákis a filiszteusok fejedelmeinek: »Hát nem ismeritek Dávidot, Saulnak, Izrael királyának volt szolgáját? Sok nap vagy esztendő óta van már nálam, s nem találtam benne semmi rosszat sem attól a naptól kezdve, hogy hozzám átszökött, mind a mai napig.« –
4 But the Philistine chiefs were angry with him. 'Send the man back,' they said, 'make him go back to theplace which you assigned to him. He cannot go into battle with us, in case he turns on us once battle is joined.Would there be a better way for the man to regain his master's favour than with the heads of these men here?	4 Erre a filiszteusok fejedelmei megharagudtak rá és azt mondták neki: »Térjen vissza az az ember, s üljön a helyén, ahova rendelted, de ne jöjjön le velünk a harcba, hogy ellenségünkké ne legyen, amikor harcolni kezdünk: hiszen mi másképp engesztelhetné meg urát, mint a mi fejünkkel?
5 Is not this the David of whom they sang as they danced: Saul has kil ed his thousands, and David histens of thousands'?	5 Nem ez az a Dávid, akinek a körtáncban ezt énekelték: ‘Megverte Saul a maga ezerét. Dávid pedig a maga tízezerét?’«
6 So Achish called David and said, 'As Yahweh lives, you are loyal, and I am quite content with al yourdoings in our campaigning together, since I have found no fault with you from the day you came to me until thepresent time. But you are not acceptable to the chiefs.	6 Hívatta tehát Ákis Dávidot és azt mondta neki: »Az Úr életére mondom, hogy derék és jó ember vagy színem előtt, s kedvemre van, hogy velem jársz-kelsz a táborban, mert nem találtam benned semmi rosszat attól a naptól kezdve, hogy hozzám jöttél mind a mai napig. Ám a fejedelmeknek nem tetszel.
7 So go home, in peace, rather than antagonise them.'	7 Térj vissza tehát, s menj el békességben, hogy ne sértsd a filiszteusok fejedelmeinek szemét.«
8 'But what have I done,' David asked Achish, 'what fault have you had to find with your servant from theday I entered your service to the present time, for me not to be al owed to go and fight the enemies of my lordthe king?'	8 Azt mondta erre Dávid Ákisnak: »De hát mit követtem el, s mi rosszat találtál bennem, szolgádban attól a naptól kezdve, hogy színed elé jutottam mind a mai napig, hogy nem vonulhatok és nem harcolhatok uram, királyom ellenségei ellen?«
9 In reply, Achish said to David, 'In my opinion, it is true, you are as good as an angel of God; but thePhilistine chiefs have said, "He must not go into battle with us."	9 Ákis erre azt felelte Dávidnak: »Tudom, hogy olyan jó vagy szememben, mint az Isten angyala, de hát a filiszteusok fejedelmei azt mondták: ‘Ne jöjjön fel velünk a harcba.’
10 So get up early tomorrow morning, with your master's servants who came with you, and go to theplace which I assigned to you. Do not harbour resentment, since personal y I have no fault to find with you. Getup early tomorrow morning and, as soon as it is light, be off.'	10 Éppen azért kelj fel kora reggel urad azon szolgáival együtt, akik veled jöttek, s hajnalban, mihelyt felkeltek és virradni kezd, menjetek el.«
11 So David and his men got up early to leave at dawn and go back to Philistine territory. And thePhilistines marched on Jezreel.	11 Erre Dávid és emberei hajnalban felkeltek, hogy kora reggel útra keljenek és visszatérjenek a filiszteusok földjére, a filiszteusok pedig felmentek Jezreelbe.
