Revelation 5

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 I saw that in the right hand of the One sitting on the throne there was a scrol that was written on backand front and was sealed with seven seals.	1 וארא בימין הישב על הכסא ספר כתוב פנים ואחור וחתום בשבעה חתמות
2 Then I saw a powerful angel who cal ed with a loud voice, 'Who is worthy to open the scroll and breakits seals?'	2 וארא מלאך אביר קורא בקול גדול מי הוא הזכה לפתח הספר ולהתיר את חותמיו
3 But there was no one, in heaven or on the earth or under the earth, who was able to open the scrol andread it.	3 ולא יכל איש גם בשמים גם בארץ גם מתחת לארץ לפתח את הספר או להביט אליו
4 I wept bitterly because nobody could be found to open the scrol and read it,	4 ואבך בכי גדול על אשר לא נמצא איש זכה לפתח את הספר ולקרא בו או להביט אליו
5 but one of the elders said to me, 'Do not weep. Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David,has triumphed, and so he wil open the scroll and its seven seals.'	5 ויאמר אלי אחד מן הזקנים אל תבכה הנה נצח האריה אשר הוא משבט יהודה שרש דוד לפתח את הספר ולהתיר שבעת חותמיו
6 Then I saw, in the middle of the throne with its four living creatures and the circle of the elders, a Lambstanding that seemed to have been sacrificed; it had seven horns, and it had seven eyes, which are the sevenSpirits that God has sent out over the whole world.	6 וארא והנה בין הכסא וארבע החיות ובין הזקנים שה עמד כמו טבוח ולו שבע קרנים ושבעה עינים אשר הם שבעה רוחות האלהים השלוחים אל כל הארץ
7 The Lamb came forward to take the scrol from the right hand of the One sitting on the throne,	7 ויבא ויקח את הספר מימין הישב על הכסא
8 and when he took it, the four living creatures prostrated themselves before him and with them thetwenty-four elders; each one of them was holding a harp and had a golden bowl full of incense which are theprayers of the saints.	8 ויהי בקחתו את הספר ויפלו לפני השה ארבע החיות ועשרים וארבעה הזקנים ואיש איש כנור בידו וקערות זהב מלאת קטרת אשר הנה תפלות הקדושים
9 They sang a new hymn: You are worthy to take the scrol and to break its seals, because you weresacrificed, and with your blood you bought people for God of every race, language, people and nation	9 וישירו שיר חדש לאמר לך נאה לקחת את הספר ולפתח את חותמיו כי אתה נשחטת ובדמך קניתנו לאלהים מכל משפחה ולשון וכל עם וגוי
10 and made them a line of kings and priests for God, to rule the world.	10 ותעש אתם מלכים וכהנים לאלהינו וימלכו על הארץ
11 In my vision, I heard the sound of an immense number of angels gathered round the throne and theliving creatures and the elders; there were ten thousand times ten thousand of them and thousands uponthousands,	11 וארא ואשמע קול מלאכים רבים סביב לכסא ולחיות ולזקנים מספרם רבו רבבות ואלפי אלפים
12 loudly chanting: Worthy is the Lamb that was sacrificed to receive power, riches, wisdom, strength,honour, glory and blessing.	12 קראים בקול גדול נאה לשה הטבוח לקחת עז ועשר וחכמה וגבורה והדר וכבוד וברכה
13 Then I heard al the living things in creation -- everything that lives in heaven, and on earth, and underthe earth, and in the sea, crying: To the One seated on the throne and to the Lamb, be al praise, honour, gloryand power, for ever and ever.	13 וכל בריה אשר בשמים ובארץ ומתחת לארץ ואשר על הים וכל אשר בהם את כלם שמעתי אמרים לאמר לישב על הכסא ולשה הברכה וההדר והכבוד והעז לעולמי עולמים
14 And the four living creatures said, 'Amen'; and the elders prostrated themselves to worship.	14 ותאמרנה ארבע החיות אמן ועשרים וארבעה הזקנים נפלו על פניהם וישתחוו לחי עולמי העולמים
