NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 From Jude, servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James; to those who are cal ed, to those who aredear to God the Father and kept safe for Jesus Christ,	1 GIUDA, servitore di Gesù Cristo, e fratello di Giacomo, a’ chiamati, santificati in Dio Padre, e conservati in Cristo Gesù;
2 mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.	2 misericordia, pace, e carità, vi sia moltiplicata
3 My dear friends, at a time when I was eagerly looking forward to writing to you about the salvation thatwe all share, I felt that I must write to you encouraging you to fight hard for the faith which has been once and foral entrusted to God's holy people.	3 DILETTI, poichè io pongo ogni studio in iscrivervi della comune salute, mi è stato necessario scrivervi, per esortarvi di proseguire a combattere per la fede che è stata una volta insegnata a’ santi.
4 Certain people have infiltrated among you, who were long ago marked down for condemnation on thisaccount; without any reverence they pervert the grace of our God to debauchery and deny al religion, rejectingour only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.	4 Perciocchè son sottentrati certi uomini, i quali già innanzi ab antico sono stati scritti a questa condannazione; empi, i quali rivolgono la grazia dell’Iddio nostro a lascivia, e negano il solo Dio e Padrone, il Signor nostro Gesù Cristo.
5 I should like to remind you -- though you have already learnt it once and for al -- that the Lord rescuedthe nation from Egypt, but afterwards he stil destroyed the people who refused to believe him;	5 Or io voglio ricordar questo a voi, che avete saputo una volta questo: che il Signore, avendo salvato il suo popolo dal paese di Egitto, poi appresso distrusse quelli che non credettero.
6 and the angels who did not keep to the authority they had, but left their appointed sphere, he has kept indarkness in eternal bonds until the judgement of the great Day.	6 Ed ha messi in guardia sotto caligine, con legami eterni, per il giudicio del gran giorno, gli angeli che non hanno guardata la loro origine, ma hanno lasciata la lor propria stanza.
7 Sodom and Gomorrah, too, and the neighbouring towns, who with the same sexual immorality pursuedunnatural lusts, are put before us as an example since they are paying the penalty of eternal fire.	7 Come Sodoma e Gomorra, e le città d’intorno, avendo fornicato nelle medesima maniera che costoro, ed essendo andate dietro ad altra carne, sono state proposte per esempio, portando la pena dell’eterno fuoco
8 Nevertheless, these people are doing the same: in their delusions they not only defile their bodies anddisregard Authority, but abuse the Glories as wel .	8 E pur simigliantemente ancora costoro, trasognati, contaminano la carne, e sprezzano le signorie, e dicon male delle dignità.
9 Not even the archangel Michael, when he was engaged in argument with the devil about the corpse ofMoses, dared to denounce him in the language of abuse; all he said was, 'May the Lord rebuke you.'	9 Là dove l’arcangelo Michele, quando, contendendo col diavolo, disputava intorno al corpo di Mosè, non ardì lanciar contro a lui sentenza di maldicenza; anzi disse: Sgriditi il Signore.
10 But these people abuse anything they do not understand; and the only things they do understand --merely by nature like unreasoning animals -- wil turn out to be fatal to them.	10 Ma costoro dicon male di tutte le cose che ignorano; e si corrompono in tutte quelle, le quali, come gli animali senza ragione, naturalmente sanno.
11 Alas for them, because they have fol owed Cain; they have thrown themselves into the same delusionas Balaam for a reward; they have been ruined by the same rebel ion as Korah -and share the same fate.	11 Guai a loro! perciocchè son camminati per la via di Caino, e si son lasciati trasportare per l’inganno del premio di Balaam, e son periti per la ribellione di Core.
12 They are a dangerous hazard at your community meals, coming for the food and quite shamelesslyonly looking after themselves. They are like the clouds blown about by the winds and bringing no rain, or likeautumn trees, barren and uprooted and so twice dead;	12 Costoro son macchie ne’ vostri pasti di carità, mentre sono a tavola con voi, pascendo loro stessi senza riverenza; nuvole senz’acqua, sospinte qua e là da’ venti; alberi appassati, sterili, due volte morti, diradicati;
13 like wild sea waves with their own shame for foam; or like wandering stars for whom the gloom ofdarkness is stored up for ever.	13 fiere onde del mare, schiumanti le lor brutture; stelle erranti, a cui è riserbata la caligine delle tenebre in eterno.
14 It was with them in mind that Enoch, the seventh patriarch from Adam, made his prophecy when hesaid, 'I tel you, the Lord wil come with his holy ones in their tens of thousands,	14 Or a tali ancora profetizzò Enoc, settimo da Adamo, dicendo: Ecco, il Signore è venuto con le sue sante migliaia;
15 to pronounce judgement on al humanity and to sentence the godless for al the godless things theyhave done, and for al the defiant things said against him by godless sinners.'	15 per far giudicio contro a tutti, ed arguire tutti gli empi d’infra loro, di tutte le opere d’empietà, che hanno commesse; e di tutte le cose felle, che hanno proferite contro a lui gli empi peccatori.
16 They are mischief-makers, grumblers governed only by their own desires, with mouths ful of boastfultalk, ready to flatter others for gain.	16 Costoro son mormoratori, querimoniosi, camminando secondo le loro concupiscenze; e la lor bocca proferisce cose sopra modo gonfie, ammirando le persone per l’utilità.
17 But remember, my dear friends, what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.	17 Ma voi, diletti, ricordatevi delle parole predette dagli apostoli del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo;
18 'At the final point of time', they told you, 'there wil be mockers who fol ow nothing but their own godlessdesires.'	18 come vi dicevano, che nell’ultimo tempo vi sarebbero degli schernitori; i quali camminerebbero secondo le concupiscenze delle loro empietà.
19 It is they who cause division, who live according to nature and do not possess the Spirit.	19 Costoro son quelli che separano sè stessi, essendo sensuali, non avendo lo Spirito.
20 But you, my dear friends, must build yourselves up on the foundation of your most holy faith, praying inthe Holy Spirit;	20 Ma voi, diletti, edificando voi stessi sopra la vostra santissima fede, orando per lo Spirito Santo,
21 keep yourselves within the love of God and wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to give youeternal life.	21 conservatevi nell’amor di Dio, aspettando la misericordia del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, a vita eterna.
22 To some you must be compassionate because they are wavering;	22 Ed abbiate compassione degli uni, usando discrezione;
23 others you must save by snatching them from the fire; to others again you must be compassionate butwary, hating even the tunic stained by their bodies.	23 ma salvate gli altri per ispavento, rapendoli dal fuoco; odiando eziandio la vesta macchiata dalla carne.
24 To him who can keep you from fal ing and bring you safe to his glorious presence, innocent and joyful,	24 Or a colui che è potente da conservarvi senza intoppo, e farvi comparir davanti alla gloria sua irreprensibili, con giubilo;
25 to the only God, our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, authority and power, before al ages, now and for ever. Amen.	25 a Dio sol savio, Salvator nostro, sia gloria e magnificenza; imperio, e podestà; ed ora e per tutti i secoli. Amen
