1 John 3

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 You must see what great love the Father has lavished on us by letting us be cal ed God's children --which is what we are! The reason why the world does not acknowledge us is that it did not acknowledge him.	1 Mirad qué amor nos ha tenido el Padre para llamarnos hijos de Dios, pues ¡lo somos!. El mundo no nos conoce porque no le conoció a él.
2 My dear friends, we are already God's children, but what we shall be in the future has not yet beenrevealed. We are wel aware that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he real yis.	2 Queridos, ahora somos hijos de Dios y aún no se ha manifestado lo que seremos. Sabemos que, cuando se manifieste, seremos semejantes a él, porque le veremos tal cual es.
3 Whoever treasures this hope of him purifies himself, to be as pure as he is.	3 Todo el que tiene esta esperanza en él se purifica a sí mismo, como él es puro.
4 Whoever sins, acts wickedly, because al sin is wickedness.	4 Todo el que comete pecado comete también la iniquidad, pues el pecado es la iniquidad.
5 Now you are well aware that he has appeared in order to take sins away, and that in him there is no sin.	5 Y sabéis que él se manifestó para quitar los pecados y en él no hay pecado.
6 No one who remains in him sins, and whoever sins has neither seen him nor recognised him.	6 Todo el que permanece en él, no peca. Todo el que peca, no le ha visto ni conocido.
7 Children, do not let anyone lead you astray. Whoever acts uprightly is upright, just as he is upright.	7 Hijos míos, que nadie os engañe. Quien obra la justicia es justo, como él es justo.
8 Whoever lives sinfully belongs to the devil, since the devil has been a sinner from the beginning. Thiswas the purpose of the appearing of the Son of God, to undo the work of the devil.	8 Quien comete el pecado es del Diablo, pues el Diablo peca desde el principio. El Hijo de Dios se manifestó para deshacer las obras del Diablo.
9 No one who is a child of God sins because God's seed remains in him. Nor can he sin, because he is achild of God.	9 Todo el que ha nacido de Dios no comete pecado porque su germen permanece en él; y no puede pecar porque ha nacido de Dios.
10 This is what distinguishes the children of God from the children of the devil: whoever does not liveuprightly and does not love his brother is not from God.	10 En esto se reconocen los hijos de Dios y los hijos del Diablo: todo el que no obra la justicia no es de Dios, ni tampoco el que no ama a su hermano.
11 This is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we must love one another,	11 Pues este es el mensaje que habéis oído desde el principio: que nos amemos unos a otros.
12 not to be like Cain, who was from the Evil One and murdered his brother. And why did he murder hisbrother? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's upright.	12 No como Caín, que, siendo del Maligno, mató a su hermano. Y ¿por qué le mató? Porque sus obras eran malas, mientras que las de su hermano eran justas.
13 Do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.	13 No os extrañéis, hermanos, si el mundo os aborrece.
14 We are wel aware that we have passed over from death to life because we love our brothers.Whoever does not love, remains in death.	14 Nosotros sabemos que hemos pasado de la muerte a la vida, porque amamos a los hermanos. Quien no ama permanece en la muerte.
15 Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you are well aware that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.	15 Todo el que aborrece a su hermano es un asesino; y sabéis que ningún asesino tiene vida eterna permanente en él.
16 This is the proof of love, that he laid down his life for us, and we too ought to lay down our lives for ourbrothers.	16 En esto hemos conocido lo que es amor: en que él dio su vida por nosotros. También nosotros debemos dar la vida por los hermanos.
17 If anyone is wel -off in worldly possessions and sees his brother in need but closes his heart to him,how can the love of God be remaining in him?	17 Si alguno que posee bienes de la tierra, ve a su hermano padecer necesidad y le cierra su corazón, ¿cómo puede permanecer en él el amor de Dios?
18 Children, our love must be not just words or mere talk, but something active and genuine.	18 Hijos míos, no amemos de palabra ni de boca, sino con obras y según la verdad.
19 This will be the proof that we belong to the truth, and it wil convince us in his presence,	19 En esto conoceremos que somos de la verdad, y tranquilizaremos nuestra conciencia ante Él,
20 even if our own feelings condemn us, that God is greater than our feelings and knows al things.	20 en caso de que nos condene nuestra conciencia, pues Dios es mayor que nuestra conciencia y conoce todo.
21 My dear friends, if our own feelings do not condemn us, we can be fearless before God,	21 Queridos, si la conciencia no nos condena, tenemos plena confianza ante Dios,
22 and whatever we ask we shal receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what isacceptable to him.	22 y cuanto pidamos lo recibimos de él, porque guardamos sus mandamientos y hacemos lo que le agrada.
23 His commandment is this, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and that weshould love one another as he commanded us.	23 Y este es su mandamiento: que creamos en el nombre de su Hijo, Jesucristo, y que nos amemos unos a otros tal como nos lo mandó.
24 Whoever keeps his commandments remains in God, and God in him. And this is the proof that heremains in us: the Spirit that he has given us.	24 Quien guarda sus mandamientos permanece en Dios y Dios en él; en esto conocemos que permanece en nosotros: por el Espíritu que nos dio.
