Joshua 20

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Yahweh said to Joshua,	1 - Il Signore parlò a Giosuè dicendo: «Parla ai figli d'Israele e ordina loro:
2 'Speak to the Israelites and say to them, "Choose yourselves the cities of refuge of which I spoke toyou through Moses,	2 - Stabilite, come vi ho detto per mezzo di Mosè, le città di rifugio,
3 to which anyone who has accidental y (unintentional y) kil ed someone else may flee, and which wilserve you as refuge from the avenger of blood.	3 affinchè vi si ripari chiunque abbia uccisa, senza premeditazione, una persona e possa sfuggire così alla collera del prossimo parente, divenuto vindice del sangue [del morto].
4 (The kil er must flee to one of these towns. He will stop at the entrance to the town gate and explain hiscase to the town elders. These wil admit him to their town and assign him a place to live among them.	4 Quando egli si sarà rifugiato in una di queste città si fermerà alla porta di essa ed esporrà agli anziani della città le ragioni che lo dimostrano innocente e dopo ciò lo accoglieranno e gli daranno una dimora per abitarvi.
5 If the avenger of blood pursues him, they must not hand the kil er over to him, since he has kil ed hisfel ow unintentionally and was not motivated by long-standing hatred for him.	5 Se il vindice del sangue lo inseguirà fin là, essi non glielo consegneranno nelle mani, perchè senza volerlo ha ucciso il prossimo parente di lui e non gli era nemico nè da due nè da tre giorni.
6 He must stay in this town) until he is brought to trial before the community (until the death of the highpriest then in office. Only then may the kil er go back to his own town and to his own house in the town fromwhich he has fled)."	6 Egli abiterà in quella città fino a che non sia comparso dinanzi all'assemblea per essere giudicato e non sarà morto il grande sacerdote che si troverà in vita in quel tempo. Allora l'omicida farà ritorno alla sua città e alla sua casa dalla quale era fuggito -».
7 For this purpose they designated Kedesh in Galilee, in the highlands of Naphtali, Shechem in thehighlands of Ephraim, and Kiriath-Arba -- now Hebron -- in the highlands of Judah.	7 Furono perciò fissate Cedes in Galilea tra i monti di Neftali, Sichem nelle montagne di Efraim e Cariat Arbe, cioè Ebron, tra i monti di Giuda;
8 On the other, eastern, side of the Jordan opposite Jericho, in the desert of the tableland, they choseBezer of the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan of the tribe ofManasseh.	8 e al di là del Giordano a oriente di Gerico fissarono Bosor, che è nella pianura deserta appartenente alla tribù di Ruben, Ramot in Galaad della tribù di Gad e Gaulon in Basan della tribù di Manasse.
9 Such were the towns designated for al the Israelites and for foreigners living among them, so thatanyone who had accidental y kil ed someone could flee there and might escape the hand of the avenger ofblood, until brought to trial before the community.	9 Queste città furono fissate per tutti i figli d'Israele e per gli stranieri stabilitisi in mezzo a loro, affinchè vi si rifugiasse chiunque inconsapevolmente avesse ucciso alcuno e perchè non morisse per mano del prossimo parente, bramoso di prendere vendetta del sangue versato, finchè l'uccisore non avesse esposto le sue ragioni dinanzi al popolo.
