Joshua 20

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Yahweh said to Joshua,	1 POI il Signore parlò a Giosuè, dicendo: Parla a’ figliuoli d’Israele, dicendo:
2 'Speak to the Israelites and say to them, "Choose yourselves the cities of refuge of which I spoke toyou through Moses,	2 Costituitevi le città del rifugio, delle quali io vi parlai per Mosè;
3 to which anyone who has accidental y (unintentional y) kil ed someone else may flee, and which wilserve you as refuge from the avenger of blood.	3 acciocchè l’ucciditore, che avrà uccisa una persona per errore, disavvedutamente, si rifugga là; ed esse vi saranno per rifugio da colui che ha la ragione di vendicare il sangue.
4 (The kil er must flee to one of these towns. He will stop at the entrance to the town gate and explain hiscase to the town elders. These wil admit him to their town and assign him a place to live among them.	4 Un tale adunque si rifuggirà in una di quelle città; e, fermatosi all’entrata della porta della città, dirà agli Anziani della città le sue ragioni; ed essi l’accoglieranno a loro dentro alla città, e gli daranno luogo, ed egli abiterà con loro.
5 If the avenger of blood pursues him, they must not hand the kil er over to him, since he has kil ed hisfel ow unintentionally and was not motivated by long-standing hatred for him.	5 E quando colui che ha la ragione di vendicare il sangue lo perseguiterà, essi non gliel daranno nelle mani; perciocchè egli ha ucciso il suo prossimo disavvedutamente, non avendolo per addietro odiato.
6 He must stay in this town) until he is brought to trial before the community (until the death of the highpriest then in office. Only then may the kil er go back to his own town and to his own house in the town fromwhich he has fled)."	6 Ed egli starà in quella città, finchè, alla morte del sommo Sacerdote che sarà a que’ dì, egli comparisca in giudicio davanti alla raunanza; allora l’ucciditore se ne ritornerà, e verrà alla sua città, e alla sua casa; alla città, onde egli sarà fuggito
7 For this purpose they designated Kedesh in Galilee, in the highlands of Naphtali, Shechem in thehighlands of Ephraim, and Kiriath-Arba -- now Hebron -- in the highlands of Judah.	7 I figliuoli d’Israele adunque consacrarono Chedes in Galilea, nel monte di Neftali; e Sichem nel monte di Efraim; e Chiriat-arba, che è Hebron, nel monte di Giuda.
8 On the other, eastern, side of the Jordan opposite Jericho, in the desert of the tableland, they choseBezer of the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan of the tribe ofManasseh.	8 E di là dal Giordano di Gerico, verso Oriente, costituirono Beser, nel deserto, nella pianura, d’infra le terre della tribù di Ruben; e Ramot in Galaad, d’infra le terre della tribù di Gad; e Golan in Basan, d’infra le terre della tribù di Manasse.
9 Such were the towns designated for al the Israelites and for foreigners living among them, so thatanyone who had accidental y kil ed someone could flee there and might escape the hand of the avenger ofblood, until brought to trial before the community.	9 Queste furono le città assegnate per tutti i figliuoli di Israele, e per li forestieri che dimorano fra loro; acciocchè chiunque avesse uccisa una persona per errore si rifuggisse là, e non morisse per man di colui che ha la ragione di vendicare il sangue; finchè fosse comparito davanti alla raunanza
