Joshua 20

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Yahweh said to Joshua,	1 Yahveh dijo a Josué:
2 'Speak to the Israelites and say to them, "Choose yourselves the cities of refuge of which I spoke toyou through Moses,	2 «Habla a los israelitas y diles: Señalaos las ciudades de asilo de las que os hablé por medio de Moisés,
3 to which anyone who has accidental y (unintentional y) kil ed someone else may flee, and which wilserve you as refuge from the avenger of blood.	3 a las que pueda huir el homicida que haya matado a alguien por inadvertencia (sin querer), y que le sirvan de asilo contra el vengador de la sangre.
4 (The kil er must flee to one of these towns. He will stop at the entrance to the town gate and explain hiscase to the town elders. These wil admit him to their town and assign him a place to live among them.	4 (El homicida huirá a una de estas ciudades: se detendrá a la entrada de la puerta de la ciudad y expondrá su caso a los ancianos de la ciudad. Estos le admitirán en su ciudad y le señalarán una casa para que habite con ellos.
5 If the avenger of blood pursues him, they must not hand the kil er over to him, since he has kil ed hisfel ow unintentionally and was not motivated by long-standing hatred for him.	5 Si el vengador de la sangre le persigue, no le entregarán al homicida en su manos, pues ha herido a su prójimo sin querer, y no le tenía odio anteriormente.
6 He must stay in this town) until he is brought to trial before the community (until the death of the highpriest then in office. Only then may the kil er go back to his own town and to his own house in the town fromwhich he has fled)."	6 El homicida habrá de permanecer en la ciudad, hasta que comparezca en juicio ante la comunidad, hasta la muerte del Sumo Sacerdote que esté en funciones por aquel tiempo. Entonces el homicida podrá volver a sus ciudad y a su casa, a la ciudad de la que huyó».
7 For this purpose they designated Kedesh in Galilee, in the highlands of Naphtali, Shechem in thehighlands of Ephraim, and Kiriath-Arba -- now Hebron -- in the highlands of Judah.	7 Consagraron: Quedes en Galilea, en la montaña de Neftalí, Siquem en la montaña de Efraím, Quiryat Arbá, o sea Hebrón, en la montaña de Judá.
8 On the other, eastern, side of the Jordan opposite Jericho, in the desert of the tableland, they choseBezer of the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan of the tribe ofManasseh.	8 En Transjordania, al oriente de Jericó, se designó Béser, de la tribu de Rubén, en el desierto, en el llano; Ramot en Galaad, de la tribu de Gad, y Golán en Basán, de la tribu de Manasés.
9 Such were the towns designated for al the Israelites and for foreigners living among them, so thatanyone who had accidental y kil ed someone could flee there and might escape the hand of the avenger ofblood, until brought to trial before the community.	9 Estas son las ciudades designadas para todos los israelitas, así como para el forastero residente entre ellos, para que pueda refugiarse en ellas cualquiera que haya matado a alguien por inadvertencia, y no muera a manos del vengador de la sangre, hasta que comparezca ante la comunidad.
