Joshua 1

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 When Moses, servant of Yahweh, was dead, Yahweh spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' adjutant. Hesaid,	1 Después de la muerte de Moisés, el servidor del Señor, el Señor dijo a Josué, hijo de Nun y ayudante de Moisés:
2 'Moses my servant is dead; go now and cross this Jordan, you and this whole people, into the countrywhich I am giving to them (the Israelites).	2 «Mi servidor Moisés ha muerto. Ahora levántate y cruza el Jordán con todo este pueblo, para ir hacia la tierra que yo daré a los israelitas.
3 Every place you tread with the soles of your feet I shall give you, as I declared to Moses that I would.	3 Yo les entrego todos los lugares donde ustedes pondrán la planta de sus pies, como se lo prometí a Moisés.
4 From the desert and the Lebanon, to the Great River, the Euphrates (the entire country of the Hittites),and as far as the Great Sea to westward, is to be your territory.	4 El territorio de ustedes se extenderá desde el desierto y desde el Líbano hasta el Gran Río, el río Eufrates, y hasta el Gran Mar, al occidente.
5 As long as you live, no one wil be able to resist you; I shal be with you as I was with Moses; I shall notfail you or desert you.	5 Mientras vivas, nadie resistirá delante de ti; yo estaré contigo como estuve con Moisés: no te dejaré ni te abandonaré.
6 'Be strong and stand firm, for you are the man to give this people possession of the land which I sworeto their ancestors that I would give them.	6 Sé valiente y firme: tú vas a poner a este pueblo en posesión del país que yo les daré, porque así lo juré a sus padres.
7 Only be strong and stand very firm and be careful to keep the whole Law which my servant Moses laiddown for you. Do not swerve from this either to right or to left, and then you wil succeed wherever you go.	7 Basta que seas fuerte y valiente, para obrar en todo según la Ley que te dio Moisés, mi servidor. No te apartes de ella ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda, y así tendrás éxito en todas tus empresas.
8 Have the book of this Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may careful ykeep everything that is written in it. Then your undertakings wil prosper, then you will have success.	8 Que el libro de esta Ley nunca se aparte de ti: medítalo día y noche, para obrar fielmente en todo conforme a lo que está escrito en él. Así harás prosperar tus empresas y tendrás éxito.
9 Have I not told you: Be strong and stand firm? Be fearless and undaunted, for go where you may,Yahweh your God is with you.'	9 ¿Acaso no soy yo el que te ordeno que seas fuerte y valiente? No temas ni te acobardes, porque el Señor, tu Dios, estará contigo dondequiera que vayas».
10 Joshua then gave the people's officials this instruction:	10 Entonces Josué dio a los escribas del pueblo la siguiente orden:
11 'Go through the camp and give the people this order, "Make provisions ready, for in three days' timeyou wil cross this Jordan and go on to take possession of the land which Yahweh your God is giving you as yourown." '	11 «Recorran el campamento y manden al pueblo que haga provisión de víveres, porque dentro de tres días pasarán el Jordán para ir a ocupar la tierra que el Señor, su Dios, les da en posesión».
12 Joshua then said to the Reubenites and Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh,	12 Luego dijo a los rubenitas, a los gaditas y a la mitad de la tribu de Manasés:
13 'Remember the order given you by Moses, servant of Yahweh: Yahweh your God, in bringing you torest, has given you the land where we are.	13 «Recuerden la orden que les dio Moisés, el servidor del Señor, cuando dijo: «El Señor, su Dios, les concede el descanso y les da este territorio.
14 Your wives, your little ones and your cattle must stay in the country given you by Moses beyond theJordan. But al you fighting men must cross in battle formation at the head of your brothers and help them,	14 Sus mujeres, sus niños y sus rebaños se quedarán en el territorio que les dio Moisés, al otro lado del Jordán. Pero ustedes, todos los guerreros, cruzarán equipados con sus armas al frente de sus hermanos, para prestarles ayuda,
15 until Yahweh grants rest to your brothers and you alike, when they too have taken possession of theland which Yahweh your God is giving to them. Then you may go back and take possession of the land whichbelongs to you and which Moses, servant of Yahweh, has given you on the eastern side of the Jordan.'	15 hasta que el Señor les conceda el descanso lo mismo que a ustedes, y también ellos tomen posesión de la tierra que les da el Señor, su Dios. Entonces volverán al territorio que les pertenece, aquel que les dio Moisés, el servidor del Señor, al otro lado del Jordán, hacia el oriente».
16 They answered Joshua, 'We wil do whatever you order us, and wherever you send us we wil go.	16 Ellos respondieron a Josué: «Haremos todo lo que nos ordenes e iremos adonde nos mandes.
17 We obeyed Moses in everything, and now we will obey you. Only may Yahweh your God be with youas he was with Moses!	17 Así como obedecimos en todo a Moisés, también te obedeceremos a ti. Basta que el Señor esté contigo como estuvo con él.
18 If anyone rebels against your orders or will not listen to your commands, let him be put to death. Only be strong and stand firm.'	18 Cualquiera que se rebele contra tus órdenes y no te obedezca en todo lo que nos mandes, será castigado con la muerte. Tú, por tu parte, sé fuerte y valiente».
