1 From Paul, by the wil of God an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy	1 Paolo, apostolo di Cristo Gesù per volere di Dio, e il fratello Timoteo,
2 to God's holy people in Colossae, our faithful brothers in Christ. Grace and peace to you from God ourFather.	2 ai santi di Colosse, fedeli fratelli in Cristo. Grazia e pace a voi da Dio, Padre nostro.
3 We give thanks for you to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, continual y in our prayers,	3 Noi ringraziamo costantemente Dio, Padre del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, pregando per voi,
4 ever since we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you show towards all God's holypeople	4 perché siamo stati informati della vostra fede in Cristo Gesù e dell'amore che praticate verso tutti i santi
5 because of the hope which is stored up for you in heaven. News of this hope reached you not long agothrough the word of truth, the gospel	5 a motivo della speranza che vi è riservata in cielo. Di questa avete udito l'annuncio mediante la parola di verità, il vangelo,
6 that came to you in the same way as it is bearing fruit and growing throughout the world. It has had thesame effect among you, ever since you heard about the grace of God and recognised it for what it truly is.	6 a voi giunto, e come in tutto il mondo sta dando frutti e sviluppandosi, così anche tra voi fin dal giorno nel quale udiste e conosceste la grazia di Dio nella verità.
7 This you learnt from Epaphras, our very dear fel ow-worker and a trustworthy deputy for us as Christ'sservant,	7 Questo apprendeste da Epafra, nostro diletto compagno di servizio e fedele ministro di Cristo in vece nostra;
8 and it was he who also told us all about your love in the Spirit.	8 egli ci ha informati del vostro amore nello Spirito.
9 That is why, ever since the day he told us, we have never failed to remember you in our prayers and askthat through perfect wisdom and spiritual understanding you should reach the ful est knowledge of his will	9 Perciò anche noi, dal giorno in cui ne fummo informati, non tralasciamo di pregare per voi e di chiedere che vi sia concesso di conoscere perfettamente la sua volontà con ogni speranza e intelligenza spirituale,
10 and so be able to lead a life worthy of the Lord, a life acceptable to him in all its aspects, bearing fruit in every kind of good work and growing in knowledge of God,	10 per comportarvi in maniera degna del Signore e piacergli in tutto, dando frutti in ogni genere di opera buona e crescendo nella piena conoscenza di Dio,
11 fortified, in accordance with his glorious strength, with al power always to persevere and endure,	11 irrobustiti con ogni vigore, secondo la potenza della sua gloria, per tutto sopportare con perseveranza e magnanimità,
12 giving thanks with joy to the Father who has made you able to share the lot of God's holy people andwith them to inherit the light.	12 ringraziando con gioia il Padre, che ci ha fatti capaci di partecipare alla sorte dei santi nella luce.
13 Because that is what he has done. It is he who has rescued us from the ruling force of darkness andtransferred us to the kingdom of the Son that he loves,	13 Egli ci ha strappati dal dominio delle tenebre e ci ha trasferiti nel regno del suo amato Figlio,
14 and in him we enjoy our freedom, the forgiveness of sin.	14 nel quale abbiamo la redenzione, il perdono dei peccati.
15 He is the image of the unseen God, the first-born of al creation,	15 Egli è l'immagine del Dio invisibile, Primogenito di tutta la creazione;
16 for in him were created all things in heaven and on earth: everything visible and everything invisible,thrones, ruling forces, sovereignties, powers -- al things were created through him and for him.	16 poiché in lui sono stati creati tutti gli esseri nei cieli e sulla terra, i visibili e gli invisibili: Troni, Signorie, Prìncipi, Potenze. Tutte le cose sono state create per mezzo di lui e in vista di lui;
17 He exists before al things and in him al things hold together,	17 egli esiste prima di tutti loro e tutti in lui hanno consistenza.
18 and he is the Head of the Body, that is, the Church. He is the Beginning, the first-born from the dead,so that he should be supreme in every way;	18 E' anche il capo del corpo, cioè della chiesa; egli è principio, primogenito dei risuscitati, così da primeggiare in tutto,
19 because God wanted al ful ness to be found in him	19 poiché piacque a tutta la pienezza di risiedere in lui
20 and through him to reconcile al things to him, everything in heaven and everything on earth, by makingpeace through his death on the cross.	20 e di riconciliarsi, per suo mezzo, tutti gli esseri della terra e del cielo, facendo la pace mediante il sangue della sua croce.
21 You were once estranged and of hostile intent through your evil behaviour;	21 E voi, che un tempo con le opere malvagie eravate stranieri e ostili per il modo di pensare,
22 now he has reconciled you, by his death and in that mortal body, to bring you before himself holy,faultless and irreproachable-	22 ora, mediante la sua morte, siete stati riconciliati nel suo corpo mortale per presentarvi santi, integri e irreprensibili davanti a lui,
23 as long as you persevere and stand firm on the solid base of the faith, never letting yourselves driftaway from the hope promised by the gospel, which you have heard, which has been preached to every creatureunder heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become the servant.	23 purché perseveriate saldamente fondati sulla fede e irremovibili nella speranza del vangelo che avete udito, il quale è predicato a ogni creatura che è sotto il cielo e del quale io, Paolo, sono divenuto ministro.
24 It makes me happy to be suffering for you now, and in my own body to make up all the hardships thatstill have to be undergone by Christ for the sake of his body, the Church,	24 Ora io gioisco nelle sofferenze che sopporto per voi, e completo nel mio corpo ciò che manca dei patimenti del Cristo per il suo corpo, che è la chiesa,
25 of which I was made a servant with the responsibility towards you that God gave to me, that ofcompleting God's message,	25 della quale sono divenuto ministro, in conformità al compito che Dio mi ha affidato a vostro riguardo, per realizzare la parola di Dio,
26 the message which was a mystery hidden for generations and centuries and has now been revealed tohis holy people.	26 il mistero che, nascosto ai secoli eterni e alle generazioni passate, ora è svelato ai suoi santi.
27 It was God's purpose to reveal to them how rich is the glory of this mystery among the gentiles; it isChrist among you, your hope of glory:	27 A questi Dio volle far conoscere quale fosse la splendida ricchezza di questo mistero tra i gentili: Cristo in noi, la speranza della gloria.
28 this is the Christ we are proclaiming, admonishing and instructing everyone in all wisdom, to makeeveryone perfect in Christ.	28 Lui noi annunciamo, ammonendo ogni uomo e istruendo ognuno in ogni saggezza, per rendere ciascun uomo perfetto in Cristo.
29 And it is for this reason that I labour, striving with his energy which works in me mightily.	29 A questo scopo mi affatico, battendomi con quella energia che egli sviluppa con potenza in me.
