1 From Paul, by the wil of God an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy	1 - Paolo, per volontà di Dio apostolo di Cristo Gesù, e il fratello Timoteo,
2 to God's holy people in Colossae, our faithful brothers in Christ. Grace and peace to you from God ourFather.	2 ai santi e fedeli fratelli in Cristo, che sono in Colossi, grazia a voi e pace sia da Dio Padre nostro.
3 We give thanks for you to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, continual y in our prayers,	3 Ringraziamo Iddio, Padre del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, ogni volta che preghiamo per voi,
4 ever since we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you show towards all God's holypeople	4 sentendo la fede che avete in Cristo Gesù e l'amore che portate a tutti i santi,
5 because of the hope which is stored up for you in heaven. News of this hope reached you not long agothrough the word of truth, the gospel	5 per via della speranza che riposta per voi nei cieli; speranza che avete già da tempo concepito nella parola di verità del Vangelo,
6 that came to you in the same way as it is bearing fruit and growing throughout the world. It has had thesame effect among you, ever since you heard about the grace of God and recognised it for what it truly is.	6 pervenuto a voi, come in tutto il mondo sta producendo i suoi frutti e facendo progressi quali fa tra voi, da dì che l'avete udito, e avete conosciuto la grazia di Dio nella sua verità;
7 This you learnt from Epaphras, our very dear fel ow-worker and a trustworthy deputy for us as Christ'sservant,	7 conforme avete imparato da Epafra, l'amato nostro conservo, il quale è fedele ministro di Cristo per voi,
8 and it was he who also told us all about your love in the Spirit.	8 e che ha fatto anche a noi palese lo spirituale effetto vostro.
9 That is why, ever since the day he told us, we have never failed to remember you in our prayers and askthat through perfect wisdom and spiritual understanding you should reach the ful est knowledge of his will	9 Perciò anche noi, dal giorno che abbiamo udito ciò, non cessiamo dal pregare per voi e dal chiedere che siate ben compenetrati della conoscienza di quel che è la vostra volontà in tutto il campo della sapienza e intelligenza spirituale,
10 and so be able to lead a life worthy of the Lord, a life acceptable to him in all its aspects, bearing fruit in every kind of good work and growing in knowledge of God,	10 sì da procedere in modo degno del Signore, con pieno suo gradimento, in ogni opera buona, fruttificando e progredendo nella cognizione di Dio,
11 fortified, in accordance with his glorious strength, with al power always to persevere and endure,	11 in ogni virtù fortificati secondo la sua gloriosa potenza a sopportare ogni cosa con pazienza e longanimità,
12 giving thanks with joy to the Father who has made you able to share the lot of God's holy people andwith them to inherit the light.	12 con gioia ringraziando Dio Padre dell'avervi resi atti ad aver parte nell'eredità dei santi nella luce; [quel Dio]
13 Because that is what he has done. It is he who has rescued us from the ruling force of darkness andtransferred us to the kingdom of the Son that he loves,	13 che ci ha sottratti all'impero delle tenebre, e ci ha trasportati nel regno del Figlio dell'amor suo,
14 and in him we enjoy our freedom, the forgiveness of sin.	14 in cui abbiamo la redenzione, la remissione dei peccati.
15 He is the image of the unseen God, the first-born of al creation,	15 Egli è immagine dell'invisibile Dio, il primogenito d'ogni creazione,
16 for in him were created all things in heaven and on earth: everything visible and everything invisible,thrones, ruling forces, sovereignties, powers -- al things were created through him and for him.	16 giacchè in Lui furon create tutte le cose nei cieli e sulla terra, le cose visibili e le invisibili; siano i Troni, siano le Dominazioni, siano i Principati, siano le Podestà. Tutto per mezzo di lui e in vista di lui fu creato;
17 He exists before al things and in him al things hold together,	17 ed egli è avanti a tutto e il tutto in lui sussiste
18 and he is the Head of the Body, that is, the Church. He is the Beginning, the first-born from the dead,so that he should be supreme in every way;	18 ed è il capo del corpo, ossia della Chiesa. Egli è il principio, e primogenito di tra i morti, affinchè in ogni cosa egli tenga il primato;
19 because God wanted al ful ness to be found in him	19 giacchè in lui piacque [al Padre] che abitasse ogni pienezza,
20 and through him to reconcile al things to him, everything in heaven and everything on earth, by makingpeace through his death on the cross.	20 e per lui fossero a sè riconciliate tutte le cose, avendole pacificate per il sangue della croce di lui, sia le cose della terra sia quelle dei cieli.
21 You were once estranged and of hostile intent through your evil behaviour;	21 E voi che eravate una volta alienati e nemici nell'anima per le opere malvage,
22 now he has reconciled you, by his death and in that mortal body, to bring you before himself holy,faultless and irreproachable-	22 ora vi ha riconciliati nel corpo della carne sua per via della morte, sì da presentarvi santi e immacolati e irreprensibili di fronte a se stesso,
23 as long as you persevere and stand firm on the solid base of the faith, never letting yourselves driftaway from the hope promised by the gospel, which you have heard, which has been preached to every creatureunder heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become the servant.	23 se pur perseverate ben fondati e saldi nella fede, e non vi lasciate smuovere dalla speranza del Vangelo che avete udito, e che è stato predicato a tutte le creature sotto il cielo, di cui io Paolo sono stato fatto ministro.
24 It makes me happy to be suffering for you now, and in my own body to make up all the hardships thatstill have to be undergone by Christ for the sake of his body, the Church,	24 Ora io mi rallegro nelle sofferenze che patisco per voi, e completo nella mia carne quel che manca delle sofferenze di Cristo, a pro del corpo suo che è la Chiesa,
25 of which I was made a servant with the responsibility towards you that God gave to me, that ofcompleting God's message,	25 della quale io sono stato fatto ministro, secondo il compito da Dio a me affidato rispetto a voi, di completare la parola di Dio;
26 the message which was a mystery hidden for generations and centuries and has now been revealed tohis holy people.	26 il mistero occultato ai secoli e alle generazioni, che ora è stato rivelato ai santi di lui;
27 It was God's purpose to reveal to them how rich is the glory of this mystery among the gentiles; it isChrist among you, your hope of glory:	27 ai quali ha voluto Iddio far conoscere qual sia la ricchezza della gloria di questo mistero fra i Gentili, che è Cristo, in voi speranza di gloria;
28 this is the Christ we are proclaiming, admonishing and instructing everyone in all wisdom, to makeeveryone perfect in Christ.	28 Lui noi annunziamo esortando ogni uomo, e ogni uomo ammaestrando in tutta la sapienza, affinchè ogni uomo possiamo presentare come perfetto in Cristo.
29 And it is for this reason that I labour, striving with his energy which works in me mightily.	29 Al qual fine, io m'affatico lottando secondo l'energia di lui che in me potentemente agisce.
