1 From Paul, by the wil of God an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy	1 Paolo per volenti di Dio Apostolo di Gesù Cristo, e il fratello Timoteo:
2 to God's holy people in Colossae, our faithful brothers in Christ. Grace and peace to you from God ourFather.	2 A quegli, che sono a Colesse, santi, e fedeli fratelli in Cristo Gesù.
3 We give thanks for you to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, continual y in our prayers,	3 Grazia a voi, e pace da Dio Padre nostro, e dal Signor Gesù Cristo. Noi rendiamo grazie a Dio, e padre del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, sempre orando per voi:
4 ever since we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you show towards all God's holypeople	4 Avendo udito la fede vostra in Cristo Gesù, e la carità, che avete per tutti i santi,
5 because of the hope which is stored up for you in heaven. News of this hope reached you not long agothrough the word of truth, the gospel	5 Per la speranza, che è riposta per voi ne' cieli: la quale voi già apparaste mediante la parola di verità, il vangelo:
6 that came to you in the same way as it is bearing fruit and growing throughout the world. It has had thesame effect among you, ever since you heard about the grace of God and recognised it for what it truly is.	6 Il quale è pervenuto a voi, come anche per tutto il mondo, e fruttifica, e cresce, come pur tra di voi, fin da quel giorno, in cui voi veramente ascoltaste, e conosceste la grazia di Dio,
7 This you learnt from Epaphras, our very dear fel ow-worker and a trustworthy deputy for us as Christ'sservant,	7 Conforme avete anche imparato da Epafra conservo nostro carissimo: il qual o fedel ministro di Cristo Gesù per voi,
8 and it was he who also told us all about your love in the Spirit.	8 Il quale ha anche manifestata a noi la spirituale carità vostra.
9 That is why, ever since the day he told us, we have never failed to remember you in our prayers and askthat through perfect wisdom and spiritual understanding you should reach the ful est knowledge of his will	9 Per questo anche noi dal giorno, che (ciò) udimmo, non cessiamo di orare per voi, e di domandare, che siate ripieni di cognizione della volontà di lui con ogni sapienza, e intelligenza spirituale:
10 and so be able to lead a life worthy of the Lord, a life acceptable to him in all its aspects, bearing fruit in every kind of good work and growing in knowledge of God,	10 Onde camminiate in maniera degna di Dio, piacendo (a lui) in tutte le cose, producendo frutti di ogni buona opera, e crescendo nella scienza di Dio:
11 fortified, in accordance with his glorious strength, with al power always to persevere and endure,	11 Corroborati con ogni specie di fortezza per la gloriosa potenza di lui nella perfetta pazienza, e longanimità, con gaudio,
12 giving thanks with joy to the Father who has made you able to share the lot of God's holy people andwith them to inherit the light.	12 Grazie rendendo a Dio Padre, il quale ci ha fatti degni di partecipare alla sorte dei santi nella luce:
13 Because that is what he has done. It is he who has rescued us from the ruling force of darkness andtransferred us to the kingdom of the Son that he loves,	13 Il quale ci ha tratti dalla podestà, delle tenebre, e ci ha trasportati nel regno del Figliuolo dell'amor suo,
14 and in him we enjoy our freedom, the forgiveness of sin.	14 In cui abbiamo la redenzione mediante il sangue di lui, la remissione de' peccati:
15 He is the image of the unseen God, the first-born of al creation,	15 Il quale è immagine dell'invisibile Dio, primogenito di tutte le creature:
16 for in him were created all things in heaven and on earth: everything visible and everything invisible,thrones, ruling forces, sovereignties, powers -- al things were created through him and for him.	16 Imperocché per lui sono state fatte tutte le cose ne' cieli, e in terra, le visibili, e le invisibili, sia i troni, sia le dominazioni, sia i principati, sia le potestà: tutto per lui, e a riflesso di lui fu creato:
17 He exists before al things and in him al things hold together,	17 Ed egli è avanti a tutte le cose, e le cose tutte per lui sussistono.
18 and he is the Head of the Body, that is, the Church. He is the Beginning, the first-born from the dead,so that he should be supreme in every way;	18 Ed egli è capo del corpo della Chiesa, ed egli è il principio, il primo a rinascere dalla morte: ond' egli abbia in ogni cosa il primato:
19 because God wanted al ful ness to be found in him	19 Conciossiachè fu beneplacito (del Padre), che in lui abitasse ogni pienezza:
20 and through him to reconcile al things to him, everything in heaven and everything on earth, by makingpeace through his death on the cross.	20 E che per lui fosser riconciliate seco tutte le cose, rappacificando, mediante il sangue della croce di lui, e le cose della terra, e le cose del cielo.
21 You were once estranged and of hostile intent through your evil behaviour;	21 E voi, che eravate una volta avversi, e nemici di animo per le male opere,
22 now he has reconciled you, by his death and in that mortal body, to bring you before himself holy,faultless and irreproachable-	22 Vi ha adesso riconciliati nel corpo della sua carne con la sua morte, affine di presentarvi santi, e immacolati, e irreprensibili dinanzi a se:
23 as long as you persevere and stand firm on the solid base of the faith, never letting yourselves driftaway from the hope promised by the gospel, which you have heard, which has been preached to every creatureunder heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become the servant.	23 Se però perseverate ben fondati, e saldi nella fede, e immobili sulla speranza del vangelo ascoltato da voi, e predicato a tutte quante le creature, che sono sotto de' cieli, del quale sono stato fatto ministro io Paolo.
24 It makes me happy to be suffering for you now, and in my own body to make up all the hardships thatstill have to be undergone by Christ for the sake of his body, the Church,	24 Io, che adesso godo di quel, che patisco per voi, e do nella carne mia compimento a quello, che rimane de' patimenti di Cristo, a pro del corpo di lui, che è la Chiesa:
25 of which I was made a servant with the responsibility towards you that God gave to me, that ofcompleting God's message,	25 Della quale son io stato fatto ministro secondo la dispensazione di Dio fatta a me per voi, affinchè io dia compimento alla parola di Dio:
26 the message which was a mystery hidden for generations and centuries and has now been revealed tohis holy people.	26 Mistero ascoso ai secoli, ed alle generazioni, manifestato però adesso ai santi di lui,
27 It was God's purpose to reveal to them how rich is the glory of this mystery among the gentiles; it isChrist among you, your hope of glory:	27 Ai quali volle Dio far conoscere, quali siano le ricchezze della gloria di questo mistero tralle nazioni, che è Cristo, in voi speranza della gloria,
28 this is the Christ we are proclaiming, admonishing and instructing everyone in all wisdom, to makeeveryone perfect in Christ.	28 Cui noi predichiamo, correggendo ogni uomo, e insegnando ad ogni uomo tutta la sapienza, affine di rendere perfetto ogni uomo in Cristo Gesù;
29 And it is for this reason that I labour, striving with his energy which works in me mightily.	29 Al qual fine ancora io fo tutti i miei sforzi, combattendo secondo l'operazione di lui, la quale in me agisce potentemente.
