1 What should we say then? Should we remain in sin so that grace may be given the more fully?	1 - Che diremo dunque? Rimarremo nel peccato affinchè abbondi la grazia?
2 Out of the question! We have died to sin; how could we go on living in it?	2 non sia mai. Noi che siam morti al peccato, come vivremo ancora in esso?
3 You cannot have forgotten that al of us, when we were baptised into Christ Jesus, were baptised intohis death.	3 O ignorate che quanti siamo stati battezzati in Cristo Gesù siamo stati battezzati nella morte di lui?
4 So by our baptism into his death we were buried with him, so that as Christ was raised from the deadby the Father's glorious power, we too should begin living a new life.	4 Siamo stati dunque sepolti con lui per mezzo del battesimo nella morte, affinchè, come fu resuscitato Cristo da morte per la gloria del padre, così anche noi camminiamo in novità di vita.
5 If we have been joined to him by dying a death like his, so we shal be by a resurrection like his;	5 Poichè se siamo stati come innestati alla somiglianza della morte di lui, lo saremo anche a quella della risurrezione;
6 realising that our former self was crucified with him, so that the self which belonged to sin should be destroyed and we should be freed from the slavery of sin.	6 sapendo questo, che il nostro uomo vecchio fu crocifisso con lui perchè fosse ridotto a nulla il corpo del peccato, in modo da non esser più noi schiavi del peccato;
7 Someone who has died, of course, no longer has to answer for sin.	7 perchè chi è morto è stato giustificato dalla colpa.
8 But we believe that, if we died with Christ, then we shal live with him too.	8 E se siamo morti in Cristo, abbiamo fede che rivivremo anche con lui,
9 We know that Christ has been raised from the dead and will never die again. Death has no power overhim any more.	9 sapendo che Cristo risorto da morte non muore più, la morte non avrà più dominio su lui.
10 For by dying, he is dead to sin once and for all, and now the life that he lives is life with God.	10 Poichè per il fatto che è morto, è morto una volta per sempre al peccato, e quel che vive vive in Dio.
11 In the same way, you must see yourselves as being dead to sin but alive for God in Christ Jesus.	11 Così anche voi fate conto di esser morti al peccato, e di vivere a Dio in Cristo Gesù.
12 That is why you must not al ow sin to reign over your mortal bodies and make you obey their desires;	12 Non regni dunque il peccato nel vostro corpo mortale, sì da ubbidire alle sue concupiscenze;
13 or give any parts of your bodies over to sin to be used as instruments of evil. Instead, give yourselvesto God, as people brought to life from the dead, and give every part of your bodies to God to be instruments ofuprightness;	13 nè esibite le vostre membra come armi d'ingiustizia al peccato; ma offrite voi stessi a Dio come risuscitati da morte, e le vostre membra siano a Dio armi di giustizia.
14 and then sin wil no longer have any power over you -- you are living not under law, but under grace.	14 Poichè il peccato non vi comanderà più non essendo più sotto la Legge, ma sotto la grazia.
15 What is the implication? That we are free to sin, now that we are not under law but under grace? Outof the question!	15 Che dunque? peccheremo perchè non siamo sotto la Legge ma sotto la grazia? non mai;
16 You know wel that if you undertake to be somebody's slave and obey him, you are the slave of himyou obey: you can be the slave either of sin which leads to death, or of obedience which leads to saving justice.	16 non sapete che a chi vi fate schiavi per obbedienza siete schiavi di quello cui ubbidite, sia del peccato che conduce alla morte, sia dell'obbedienza che mena alla giustizia?
17 Once you were slaves of sin, but thank God you have given whole-hearted obedience to the patternof teaching to which you were introduced;	17 E grazie si rendano a Dio perchè eravate schiavi del peccato, ma avete di cuore obbedito a quella forma di dottrina a cui siete stati ascritti;
18 and so, being freed from serving sin, you took uprightness as your master.	18 e liberati dal peccato, siete divenuti schiavi della giustizia.
19 I am putting it in human terms because you are stil weak human beings: as once you surrenderedyourselves as servants to immorality and to a lawlessness which results in more lawlessness, now you have tosurrender yourselves to uprightness which is to result in sanctification.	19 Io parlo in modo umano, per la debolezza della vostra carne. Perchè come offriste le vostre membra come schiave all'impurità e all'iniquità per l'iniquità, così ora offrite le vostre membra schiave alla giustizia per la santificazione.
20 When you were the servants of sin, you felt no obligation to uprightness,	20 Poichè quando eravate schiavi del peccato, eravate liberi rispetto alla giustizia.
21 and what did you gain from living like that? Experiences of which you are now ashamed, for that sortof behaviour ends in death.	21 E che frutto avevate allora? cose delle quali ora vi vergognate, poichè la fine loro è la morte.
22 But, now you are set free from sin and bound to the service of God, your gain wil be sanctificationand the end will be eternal life.	22 Ma ora affrancati dal peccato e fatti schiavi a Dio, ne avete il frutto nella vostra santificazione, e il fine è una vita sempiterna.
23 For the wage paid by sin is death; the gift freely given by God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.	23 Poichè la paga del peccato è morte, e il grazioso dono di Dio è la vita eterna in Gesù Cristo Signor nostro.
