Romans 11

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 What I am saying is this: is it possible that God abandoned his people? Out of the question! I too aman Israelite, descended from Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.	1 Entonces me pregunto: ¿Dios habrá rechazado a su Pueblo? ¡Nada de eso! Yo mismo soy israelita, descendiente de Abraham y miembro de la tribu de Benjamín.
2 God never abandoned his own people to whom, ages ago, he had given recognition. Do you notremember what scripture says about Elijah and how he made a complaint to God against Israel:	2 Dios no ha rechazado a su Pueblo, al que eligió de antemano. ¿Ustedes no saben acaso lo que dice la Escritura en la historia de Elías? El se quejó de Israel delante de Dios, diciendo:
3 Lord, they have put your prophets to the sword, torn down your altars. I am the only one left, and now they want to kil me?	3 "Señor, han matado a tus profetas, destruyeron tus altares; he quedado yo solo y tratan de quitarme la vida".
4 And what was the prophetic answer given? I have spared for myself seven thousand men that havenot bent the knee to Baal.	4 ¿Y que le respondió el oráculo divino?: "Me he reservado siete mil hombres que no doblaron su rodilla ante Baal".
5 In the same way, then, in our own time, there is a remnant, set aside by grace.	5 Así, en el tiempo presente, hay también un resto elegido gratuitamente.
6 And since it is by grace, it cannot now be by good actions, or grace would not be grace at al !	6 Y si es por gracia, no es por las obras; de lo contrario, la gracia no sería gracia.
7 What fol ows? Israel failed to find what it was seeking; only those who were chosen found it and therest had their minds hardened;	7 ¿Qué conclusión sacaremos de esto? Que Israel no alcanzó lo que buscaba, sino que lo consiguieron los elegidos; en cuanto a los demás, se endurecieron,
8 just as it says in scripture: God has infused them with a spirit of lethargy; until today they have noteyes to see or ears to hear.	8 según la palabra de la Escritura: "Dios los insensibilizó, para que sus ojos no vean y sus oídos no escuchen hasta el día de hoy".
9 David too says: May their own table prove a trap for them, a pitfal and a snare; let that be theirretribution.	9 Y David añade: "Que su mesa se convierta en una trampa y en un lazo, en ocasión de caída y en justo castigo.
10 May their eyes grow so dim they cannot see, and their backs be bent for ever.	10 Que se nublen sus ojos para que no puedan ver, y doblégales la espalda para siempre".
11 What I am saying is this: Was this stumbling to lead to their final downfall? Out of the question! Onthe contrary, their failure has brought salvation for the gentiles, in order to stir them to envy.	11 Yo me pregunto entonces: ¿El tropiezo de Israel significará su caída definitiva? De ninguna manera. Por el contrario, a raíz de su caída, la salvación llegó a los paganos, a fin de provocar los celos de Israel.
12 And if their fal has proved a great gain to the world, and their loss has proved a great gain to thegentiles -- how much greater a gain wil come when all is restored to them!	12 Ahora bien, si su caída enriqueció al mundo y su disminución a los paganos, ¿qué no conseguirá su conversión total?
13 Let me say then to you gentiles that, as far as I am an apostle to the gentiles, I take pride in thiswork of service;	13 A ustedes, que son de origen pagano, les aseguro que en mi condición de Apóstol de los paganos, hago honor a mi ministerio
14 and I want it to be the means of rousing to envy the people who are my own blood-relations and soof saving some of them.	14 provocando los celos de mis hermanos de raza, con la esperanza de salvar a algunos de ellos.
15 Since their rejection meant the reconciliation of the world, do you know what their re-acceptance willmean? Nothing less than life from the dead!	15 Porque si la exclusión de Israel trajo consigo la reconciliación del mundo, su reintegración, ¿no será un retorno a la vida?
16 When the first-fruits are made holy, so is the whole batch; and if the root is holy, so are thebranches.	16 Si las primicias son santas, también lo es toda la masa; si la raíz es santa, también lo son las ramas.
17 Now suppose that some branches were broken off, and you are wild olive, grafted among the rest toshare with the others the rich sap of the olive tree;	17 Si algunas de las ramas fueron cortadas, y tú, que eres un olivo silvestre, fuiste injertado en lugar de ellas, haciéndote partícipe de la raíz y de la savia del olivo,
18 then it is not for you to consider yourself superior to the other branches; and if you start feelingproud, think: it is not you that sustain the root, but the root that sustains you.	18 no te enorgullezcas frente a las ramas. Y si lo haces, recuerda que no eres tú quien mantiene a la raíz, sino la raíz a ti.
19 You wil say, 'Branches were broken off on purpose for me to be grafted in.' True;	19 Me dirás: Estas ramas han sido cortadas para que yo fuera injertado.
20 they through their unbelief were broken off, and you are established through your faith. So it is notpride that you should have, but fear:	20 De acuerdo, pero ellas fueron cortadas por su falta de fe; tú, en cambio, estás firme gracias a la fe. No te enorgullezcas por eso; más bien, teme.
21 if God did not spare the natural branches, he might not spare you either.	21 Porque si Dios no perdonó a las ramas naturales, tampoco te perdonará a ti.
22 Remember God's severity as well as his goodness: his severity to those who fel , and his goodnessto you as long as you persevere in it; if not, you too will be cut off.	22 Considera tanto la bondad cuanto la severidad de Dios: él es severo para con los que cayeron y es bueno contigo, siempre y cuando seas fiel a su bondad; de lo contrario, también tú serás arrancado.
23 And they, if they do not persevere in their unbelief, wil be grafted in; for it is within the power of Godto graft them back again.	23 Y si ellos no persisten en su incredulidad, también serán injertados, porque Dios es suficientemente poderoso para injertarlos de nuevo.
24 After al , if you, cut off from what was by nature a wild olive, could then be grafted unnaturally on to acultivated olive, how much easier wil it be for them, the branches that natural y belong there, to be grafted on tothe olive tree which is their own.	24 En efecto, si tú fuiste cortado de un olivo silvestre, al que pertenecías naturalmente, y fuiste injertado contra tu condición natural en el olivo bueno, ¿cuánto más ellos podrán ser injertados en su propio olivo, al que pertenecen por naturaleza!
25 I want you to be quite certain, brothers, of this mystery, to save you from congratulating yourselveson your own good sense: part of Israel had its mind hardened, but only until the gentiles have whol y come in;	25 Hermanos, no quiero que ignoren este misterio, a fin de que no presuman de ustedes mismos: el endurecimiento de una parte de Israel durará hasta que haya entrado la totalidad de los paganos.
26 and this is how all Israel will be saved. As scripture says: From Zion will come the Redeemer, he wilremove godlessness from Jacob.	26 Y entonces todo Israel será salvado, según lo que dice la Escritura: "De Sión vendrá el Libertador. El apartará la impiedad de Jacob.
27 And this wil be my covenant with them, when I take their sins away.	27 Y esta será mi alianza con ellos, cuando los purifique de sus pecados".
28 As regards the gospel, they are enemies, but for your sake; but as regards those who are God'schoice, they are stil wel loved for the sake of their ancestors.	28 Ahora bien, en lo que se refiere a la Buena Noticia, ellos son enemigos de Dios, a causa de ustedes; pero desde el punto de vista de la elección divina, son amados en atención a sus padres.
29 There is no change of mind on God's part about the gifts he has made or of his choice.	29 Porque los dones y el llamado de Dios son irrevocables.
30 Just as you were in the past disobedient to God but now you have been shown mercy, through theirdisobedience;	30 En efecto, ustedes antes desobedecieron a Dios, pero ahora, a causa de la desobediencia de ellos, han alcanzado misericordia.
31 so in the same way they are disobedient now, so that through the mercy shown to you they too wilreceive mercy.	31 De la misma manera, ahora que ustedes han alcanzado misericordia, ellos se niegan a obedecer a Dios. Pero esto es para que ellos también alcancen misericordia.
32 God has imprisoned al human beings in their own disobedience only to show mercy to them al .	32 Porque Dios sometió a todos a la desobediencia, para tener misericordia de todos.
33 How rich and deep are the wisdom and the knowledge of God! We cannot reach to the root of hisdecisions or his ways.	33 ¡Qué profunda y llena de riqueza es la sabiduría y la ciencia de Dios! ¡Qué insondables son sus designios y qué incomprensibles sus caminos!
34 Who has ever known the mind of the Lord? Who has ever been his adviser?	34 ¿Quién penetró en el pensamiento del Señor? ¿Quién fue su consejero?
35 Who has given anything to him, so that his presents come only as a debt returned?	35 ¿Quién le dio algo, para que tenga derecho a ser retribuido?
36 Everything there is comes from him and is caused by him and exists for him. To him be glory forever! Amen.	36 Porque todo viene de él, ha sido por él, y es para él. ¡A él sea la gloria eternamente! Amén.
