John 3

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 There was one of the Pharisees called Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews,	1 C'era tra i farisei un uomo di nome Nicodemo, un capo dei Giudei.
2 who came to Jesus by night and said, 'Rabbi, we know that you have come from God as a teacher; forno one could perform the signs that you do unless God were with him.'	2 Questi venne da lui di notte e gli disse: "Rabbì, noi sappiamo che sei venuto da Dio come maestro. Nessuno infatti può fare questi segni che tu fai se Dio non è con lui".
3 Jesus answered: In al truth I tel you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born fromabove.	3 Rispose Gesù: "In verità, in verità ti dico: Se uno non è nato dall'alto, non può vedere il regno di Dio".
4 Nicodemus said, 'How can anyone who is already old be born? Is it possible to go back into the wombagain and be born?'	4 Gli dice Nicodemo: "Come può un uomo nascere se è vecchio? Può forse entrare una seconda volta nel grembo di sua madre e nascere?".
5 Jesus replied: In al truth I tel you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born throughwater and the Spirit;	5 Gesù rispose: "In verità, in verità ti dico: se uno non è nato dall'acqua e dallo Spirito, non può entrare nel regno di Dio.
6 what is born of human nature is human; what is born of the Spirit is spirit.	6 Il nato dalla carne è carne e il nato dallo Spirito è spirito.
7 Do not be surprised when I say: You must be born from above.	7 Non meravigliarti che ti abbia detto: voi dovete nascere dall'alto.
8 The wind blows where it pleases; you can hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from orwhere it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.	8 Il vento soffia dove vuole, senti il suo sibilo, ma non sai donde viene né dove va. Così è chiunque è nato dallo Spirito".
9 'How is that possible?' asked Nicodemus.	9 "Come possono avvenire questi fatti?", riprese Nicodemo.
10 Jesus replied, 'You are the Teacher of Israel, and you do not know these things!	10 Rispose Gesù: "Tu sei maestro in Israele e non conosci queste cose?
11 'In al truth I tel you, we speak only about what we know and witness only to what we have seen and yet you people reject our evidence.	11 In verità, in verità ti dico: noi parliamo di ciò che sappiamo e testimoniamo ciò che abbiamo visto, ma voi non accogliete la nostra testimonianza.
12 If you do not believe me when I speak to you about earthly things, how wil you believe me when Ispeak to you about heavenly things?	12 Se non credete quando vi ho detto cose terrene, come crederete qualora vi dica cose celesti?
13 No one has gone up to heaven except the one who came down from heaven, the Son of man;	13 Nessuno è salito al cielo se non colui che è disceso dal cielo, il Figlio dell'uomo, che è in cielo.
14 as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up	14 E come Mosè innalzò il serpente nel deserto, così deve essere innalzato il Figlio dell'uomo,
15 so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.	15 affinché chiunque crede in lui abbia la vita eterna.
16 For this is how God loved the world: he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him maynot perish but may have eternal life.	16 Dio infatti ha tanto amato il mondo, che ha dato il Figlio suo Unigenito affinché chiunque crede in lui non perisca, ma abbia la vita eterna.
17 For God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but so that through him the world might besaved.	17 Dio infatti non mandò il Figlio nel mondo per condannare il mondo, ma perché il mondo sia salvato per mezzo di lui.
18 No one who believes in him wil be judged; but whoever does not believe is judged already, becausethat person does not believe in the Name of God's only Son.	18 Chi crede in lui non viene condannato; chi non crede in lui è già condannato, perché non ha creduto nel nome del Figlio Unigenito di Dio.
19 And the judgement is this: though the light has come into the world people have preferred darkness tothe light because their deeds were evil.	19 Ora il giudizio è questo: la luce venne nel mondo, ma gli uomini hanno amato più le tenebre che la luce, perché le loro opere erano malvagie.
20 And indeed, everybody who does wrong hates the light and avoids it, to prevent his actions from beingshown up;	20 Poiché: chiunque fa il male odia la luce e non viene alla luce, perché le sue opere non siano smascherate.
21 but whoever does the truth comes out into the light, so that what he is doing may plainly appear asdone in God.'	21 Colui invece che fa la verità viene alla luce, perché si riveli che le sue opere sono operate in Dio".
22 After this, Jesus went with his disciples into the Judaean countryside and stayed with them there andbaptised.	22 In seguito Gesù e i suoi discepoli vennero nel territorio della Giudea e lì si trattenne con loro e battezzava.
23 John also was baptising at Aenon near Salim, where there was plenty of water, and people were goingthere and were being baptised.	23 Anche Giovanni stava battezzando a Ennon vicino a Salim, perché là le acque erano abbondanti, e la gente accorreva e si faceva battezzare.
24 For John had not yet been put in prison.	24 Giovanni infatti non era ancora stato messo in prigione.
25 Now a discussion arose between some of John's disciples and a Jew about purification,	25 Sorse allora una disputa fra i discepoli di Giovanni e un giudeo a proposito della purificazione.
26 so they went to John and said, 'Rabbi, the man who was with you on the far side of the Jordan, theman to whom you bore witness, is baptising now, and everyone is going to him.'	26 Andarono da Giovanni e gli dissero: "Rabbì, colui che era con te al di là del Giordano, cui tu hai reso testimonianza, ecco che battezza e tutti vanno da lui".
27 John replied: 'No one can have anything except what is given him from heaven.	27 Rispose Giovanni: "Non può un uomo prendere nulla se non gli è dato dal cielo.
28 'You yourselves can bear me out. I said, "I am not the Christ; I am the one who has been sent to go infront of him."	28 Voi stessi mi siete testimoni che ho detto: "Non sono io il Cristo, ma sono colui che è stato mandato davanti a lui".
29 'It is the bridegroom who has the bride; and yet the bridegroom's friend, who stands there and listensto him, is fil ed with joy at the bridegroom's voice. This is the joy I feel, and it is complete.	29 Colui che ha la sposa è lo sposo; ma l'amico dello sposo, che gli sta vicino e l'ascolta, è ripieno di gioia per la voce dello sposo. Questa gioia, che è la mia, ora è perfetta.
30 He must grow greater, I must grow less.	30 Egli deve crescere, io invece diminuire".
31 He who comes from above is above al others; he who is of the earth is earthly himself and speaks inan earthly way. He who comes from heaven	31 Colui che viene dall'alto è sopra di tutti. Colui che è dalla terra appartiene alla terra e parla da uomo della terra. Colui che viene dal cielo è sopra di tutti.
32 bears witness to the things he has seen and heard, but his testimony is not accepted by anybody;	32 Egli testimonia ciò che ha visto e udito, ma nessuno accoglie la sua testimonianza.
33 though anyone who does accept his testimony is attesting that God is true,	33 Colui che accoglie la sua testimonianza, ratifica che Dio è verace.
34 since he whom God has sent speaks God's own words, for God gives him the Spirit without reserve.	34 Infatti colui che Dio ha mandato, dice le parole di Dio, poiché dà lo Spirito senza misura.
35 The Father loves the Son and has entrusted everything to his hands.	35 Il Padre ama il Figlio e ha tutto rimesso nella sua mano.
36 Anyone who believes in the Son has eternal life, but anyone who refuses to believe in the Son willnever see life: God's retribution hangs over him.'	36 Chi crede nel Figlio ha la vita eterna; chi invece disobbedisce al Figlio non vedrà la vita, ma l'ira di Dio è sopra di lui.
