John 3

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 There was one of the Pharisees called Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews,	1 Había entre los fariseos un hombre llamado Nicodemo, magistrado judío.
2 who came to Jesus by night and said, 'Rabbi, we know that you have come from God as a teacher; forno one could perform the signs that you do unless God were with him.'	2 Fue éste donde Jesús de noche y le dijo: «Rabbí, sabemos que has venido de Dios como maestro, porque nadie puede realizar las señales que tú realizas si Dios no está con él».
3 Jesus answered: In al truth I tel you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born fromabove.	3 Jesús le respondió: «En verdad, en verdad te digo: el que no nazca de lo alto no puede ver el Reino de Dios».
4 Nicodemus said, 'How can anyone who is already old be born? Is it possible to go back into the wombagain and be born?'	4 Dícele Nicodemo: «¿Cómo puede uno nacer siendo ya viejo? ¿Puede acaso entrar otra vez en el seno de su madre y nacer?»
5 Jesus replied: In al truth I tel you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born throughwater and the Spirit;	5 Respondió Jesús: «En verdad, en verdad te digo: el que no nazca de agua y de Espíritu no puede entrar en el Reino de Dios.
6 what is born of human nature is human; what is born of the Spirit is spirit.	6 Lo nacido de la carne, es carne; lo nacido del Espíritu, es espíritu.
7 Do not be surprised when I say: You must be born from above.	7 No te asombres de que te haya dicho: Tenéis que nacer de lo alto.
8 The wind blows where it pleases; you can hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from orwhere it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.	8 El viento sopla donde quiere, y oyes su voz, pero no sabes de dónde viene ni a dónde va. Así es todo el que nace del Espíritu».
9 'How is that possible?' asked Nicodemus.	9 Respondió Nicodemo: «¿Cómo puede ser eso?»
10 Jesus replied, 'You are the Teacher of Israel, and you do not know these things!	10 Jesús le respondió: «Tú eres maestro en Israel y ¿no sabes estas cosas?
11 'In al truth I tel you, we speak only about what we know and witness only to what we have seen and yet you people reject our evidence.	11 «En verdad, en verdad te digo: nosotros hablamos de lo que sabemos y damos testimonio de lo que hemos visto, pero vosotros no aceptáis nuestro testimonio.
12 If you do not believe me when I speak to you about earthly things, how wil you believe me when Ispeak to you about heavenly things?	12 Si al deciros cosas de la tierra, no creéis, ¿cómo vais a creer si os digo cosas del cielo?
13 No one has gone up to heaven except the one who came down from heaven, the Son of man;	13 Nadie ha subido al cielo sino el que bajó del cielo, el Hijo del hombre.
14 as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up	14 Y como Moisés levantó la serpiente en el desierto, así tiene que ser levantado el Hijo del hombre,
15 so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.	15 para que todo el que crea tenga por él vida eterna.
16 For this is how God loved the world: he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him maynot perish but may have eternal life.	16 Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo único, para que todo el que crea en él no perezca, sino que tenga vida eterna.
17 For God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but so that through him the world might besaved.	17 Porque Dios no ha enviado a su Hijo al mundo para juzgar al mundo, sino para que el mundo se salve por él.
18 No one who believes in him wil be judged; but whoever does not believe is judged already, becausethat person does not believe in the Name of God's only Son.	18 El que creee en él, no es juzgado; pero el que no cree, ya está juzgado, porque no ha creído en el Nombre del Hijo único de Dios.
19 And the judgement is this: though the light has come into the world people have preferred darkness tothe light because their deeds were evil.	19 Y el juicio está en que vino la luz al mundo, y los hombres amaron más las tinieblas que la luz, porque sus obras eran malas.
20 And indeed, everybody who does wrong hates the light and avoids it, to prevent his actions from beingshown up;	20 Pues todo el que obra el mal aborrece la luz y no va a la luz, para que no sean censuradas sus obras.
21 but whoever does the truth comes out into the light, so that what he is doing may plainly appear asdone in God.'	21 Pero el que obra la verdad, va a la luz, para que quede de manifiesto que sus obras están hechas según Dios».
22 After this, Jesus went with his disciples into the Judaean countryside and stayed with them there andbaptised.	22 Después de esto, se fue Jesús con sus discípulos al país de Judea; y allí se estaba con ellos y bautizaba.
23 John also was baptising at Aenon near Salim, where there was plenty of water, and people were goingthere and were being baptised.	23 Juan también estaba bautizando en Ainón, cerca de Salim, porque había allí mucha agua, y la gente acudía y se bautizaba.
24 For John had not yet been put in prison.	24 Pues todavía Juan no había sido metido en la cárcel.
25 Now a discussion arose between some of John's disciples and a Jew about purification,	25 Se suscitó una discusión entre los discípulos de Juan y un judío acerca de la purificación.
26 so they went to John and said, 'Rabbi, the man who was with you on the far side of the Jordan, theman to whom you bore witness, is baptising now, and everyone is going to him.'	26 Fueron, pues, donde Juan y le dijeron: «Rabbí, el que estaba contigo al otro lado del Jordán, aquel de quien diste testimonio, mira, está bautizando y todos se van a él».
27 John replied: 'No one can have anything except what is given him from heaven.	27 Juan respondió: «Nadie puede recibir nada si no se le ha dado del cielo.
28 'You yourselves can bear me out. I said, "I am not the Christ; I am the one who has been sent to go infront of him."	28 Vosotros mismos me sois testigos de que dije: “Yo no soy el Cristo, sino que he sido enviado delante de él.”
29 'It is the bridegroom who has the bride; and yet the bridegroom's friend, who stands there and listensto him, is fil ed with joy at the bridegroom's voice. This is the joy I feel, and it is complete.	29 El que tiene a la novia es el novio; pero el amigo del novio, el que asiste y le oye, se alegra mucho con la voz del novio. Esta es, pues, mi alegría, que ha alcanzado su plenitud.
30 He must grow greater, I must grow less.	30 Es preciso que él crezca y que yo disminuya.
31 He who comes from above is above al others; he who is of the earth is earthly himself and speaks inan earthly way. He who comes from heaven	31 El que viene de arriba está por encima de todos: el que es de la tierra, es de la tierra y habla de la tierra. El que viene del cielo,
32 bears witness to the things he has seen and heard, but his testimony is not accepted by anybody;	32 da testimonio de lo que ha visto y oído, y su testimonio nadie lo acepta.
33 though anyone who does accept his testimony is attesting that God is true,	33 El que acepta su testimonio certifica que Dios es veraz.
34 since he whom God has sent speaks God's own words, for God gives him the Spirit without reserve.	34 Porque aquel a quien Dios ha enviado habla las palabras de Dios, porque da el Espíritu sin medida.
35 The Father loves the Son and has entrusted everything to his hands.	35 El Padre ama al Hijo y ha puesto todo en su mano.
36 Anyone who believes in the Son has eternal life, but anyone who refuses to believe in the Son willnever see life: God's retribution hangs over him.'	36 El que cree en el Hijo tiene vida eterna; el que rehúsa creer en el Hijo, no verá la vida, sino que la cólera de Dios permanece sobre él».
