Deuteronomy 8

NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 'You must keep and put into practice al the commandments which I enjoin on you today, so that youmay survive and increase in numbers and enter the country which Yahweh promised on oath to your ancestors,and make it your own.	1 Gondosan ügyelj arra, hogy teljesíts minden parancsot, amelyet ma parancsolok neked, hogy élhessetek, megsokasodhassatok, s elérhessétek és birtokolhassátok azt a földet, amely felől megesküdött az Úr atyáitoknak.
2 Remember the long road by which Yahweh your God led you for forty years in the desert, to humbleyou, to test you and know your inmost heart -- whether you would keep his commandments or not.	2 Gondolj csak vissza arra az egész útra, amelyen az Úr, a te Istened negyven esztendőn át vezetett a pusztában, hogy megsanyargasson és próbára tegyen, s így nyilvánvalóvá legyen, mi forog szívedben: vajon megtartod-e parancsait vagy nem?
3 He humbled you, he made you feel hunger, he fed you with manna which neither you nor yourancestors had ever known, to make you understand that human beings live not on bread alone but on everyword that comes from the mouth of Yahweh.	3 Éhínséggel sanyargatott téged és eledelül mannát adott neked, amelyet nem ismertél sem te, sem atyáid, hogy megmutassa neked, hogy nemcsak kenyérrel él az ember, hanem minden igével, amely Isten szájából származik.
4 The clothes on your back did not wear out and your feet were not swol en, all those forty years.	4 Ruházatod, amely betakart, az öregségtől el nem kopott, lábad fel nem törött immár negyvenedik esztendeje!
5 'Learn from this that Yahweh your God was training you as a man trains his child,	5 Ismerd el tehát szívedben, hogy amint az ember oktatja fiát, úgy oktatott téged az Úr, a te Istened,
6 and keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and so follow his ways and fear him.	6 hogy megtartsd az Úrnak, a te Istenednek parancsolatait, járj az ő útjain és féld őt.
7 'But Yahweh your God is bringing you into a fine country, a land of streams and springs, of waters thatwel up from the deep in val eys and hil s,	7 Az Úr, a te Istened ugyanis bevisz téged egy pompás földre, patakok, vizek és források földjére, amelynek mezőin s hegyein folyók mélységei fakadnak,
8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines, of figs, of pomegranates, a land of olives, of oil, of honey,	8 búza, árpa és szőlő földjére, ahol füge, gránátalma és olajfa terem, olaj és méz földjére,
9 a land where you will eat bread without stint, where you wil want nothing, a land where the stones areiron and where the hil s may be quarried for copper.	9 ahol minden szűkölködés nélkül eszed kenyeredet, s mindennek bőségét élvezed, olyan földre, amelynek köve vasas, és amelynek hegyeiből rézércet bányásznak.
10 You wil eat and have al you want and you wil bless Yahweh your God in the fine country which hehas given you.	10 Ha tehát majd eszel és jóllaksz, áldd az Urat, a te Istenedet azért a felette jó földért, amelyet neked adott.
11 'Be careful not to forget Yahweh your God, by neglecting his commandments, customs and lawswhich I am laying down for you today.	11 Ügyelj, s vigyázz magadra, hogy soha meg ne feledkezzél az Úrról, a te Istenedről, s el ne hanyagold parancsolatait, rendeleteit és szertartásait, amelyeket ma parancsolok neked,
12 When you have eaten al you want, when you have built fine houses to live in,	12 hogy amikor eszel, s jóllaksz, szép házakat építesz és azokban laksz,
13 when you have seen your flocks and herds increase, your silver and gold abound and all yourpossessions grow great,	13 marhacsordákra, juhnyájakra, ezüst, arany és minden dolog bőségére szert teszel,
14 do not become proud of heart. Do not then forget Yahweh your God who brought you out of Egypt, outof the place of slave-labour,	14 fel ne fuvalkodjék szíved, s meg ne feledkezzél az Úrról, a te Istenedről, aki kihozott téged Egyiptom földjéről, a rabszolgaság házából.
15 who guided you through this vast and dreadful desert, a land of fiery snakes, scorpions, thirst;	15 Hogy vezéred volt a nagy és rettenetes pusztán, amelyben tüzes leheletű kígyó, skorpió és kiaszott föld volt, és egy szemernyi víz sem. Aki forrást fakasztott neked a kemény sziklából,
16 who in this waterless place brought you water out of the flinty rock; who in this desert fed you withmanna unknown to your ancestors, to humble you and test you and so make your future the happier.	16 s atyáid által nem ismert mannával etetett téged a pusztában, s miután megsanyargatott és próbára tett, végül megkönyörült rajtad.
17 'Beware of thinking to yourself, "My own strength and the might of my own hand have given me thepower to act like this."	17 Ne mondd tehát majd szívedben: ‘Az én erőm, az én kezem ereje szerezte meg mindezt nekem,’
18 Remember Yahweh your God; he was the one who gave you the strength to act effectively like this,thus keeping then, as today, the covenant which he swore to your ancestors.	18 hanem emlékezzél meg az Úrról, a te Istenedről, hogy ő az, aki erőt adott neked, hogy teljesítse szövetségét, amely felől megesküdött atyáidnak, mint ahogy a mai nap mutatja.
19 Be sure: if you forget Yahweh your God, if you fol ow other gods, if you serve them and bow down tothem -- I testify to you today -- you wil perish.	19 Ha azonban megfeledkezel az Úrról, a te Istenedről, s más istenek után jársz, azokat tiszteled és imádod, íme, most előre megmondom neked, hogy teljességgel el fogsz veszni.
20 Like the nations Yahweh is to destroy before you, so you yourselves will perish, for not having listenedto the voice of Yahweh your God.'	20 Mint azok a nemzetek, amelyeket majd eltöröl az Úr utadból, úgy vesztek el ti is, ha engedetlenek lesztek az Úr, a ti Istenetek szavával szemben.
