1 This is the blessing that Moses, man of God, pronounced over the Israelites before he died.	1 Questa è la benedizione data da Mosè, uomo di Dio, a' figliuoli d'Israele, prima della sua morte.
2 He said: Yahweh came from Sinai, from Seir he dawned on us, from Mount Paran blazed forth, Forthem he came, after the mustering at Kadesh, from his zenith as far as the foothil s.	2 Egli disse: Dal Sinai è venuto il Signore, e dal Seir egli si è levato per noi: è apparito sul monte Pharan, e con lui migliaia di Santi. Nella destra mano di lui la legge di fuoco.
3 You who love the ancestors! Your holy ones are all at your command. At your feet they fell, under yourguidance went swiftly on.	3 Egli ha amati i popoli: i Santi tutti sono nella sua mano, e quelli che stanno a' suoi piedi riceveranno la sua dottrina.
4 (Moses enjoined a law on us.) The assembly of Jacob comes into its inheritance;	4 Mosè ci ha data la legge, la quale sarà il retaggio della moltitudine discesa da Giacobbe.
5 there was a king in Jeshurun when the heads of the people foregathered and the tribes of Israel wereal assembled!	5 Ella sarà il re presso il popol rettissimo, stando uniti i principi del popolo colle tribù d'Israele.
6 May Reuben survive and not die out, survive though his men be few!	6 Viva Ruben, e non sia spento, ma sia in piccol numero.
7 Of Judah he said this: Listen, Yahweh, to the voice of Judah, and bring him back to his people. Thathis hands may defend his rights, come to his help against his foes!	7 Questa è la benedizione di Giuda: esaudisci, o Signore, le voci di Giuda, e riconducilo al popol suo: le mani di lui combatteranno per esso (popolo) e il suo protettore lo assisterà contro i suoi nemici.
8 Of Levi he said: To Levi, give your urim, to your faithful one, your thummim, having tested him atMassah, having striven with him at the Waters of Meribah.	8 E di Levi disse: La tua perfezione, e la tua dottrina (o Dio) sono di quel tuo uomo santo, di cui tu facesti prova, e lo giudicasti alle acque di contraddizione.
9 Of his father and mother, he says, 'I have not seen them.' He does not acknowledge his brothers, nordoes he know his own children. Yes, they have kept your word, they hold firmly to your covenant.	9 Quelli che dissero al padre loro, e alla lor madre: Io non vi conosco: e ai loro fratelli: Io non so chi voi siate: e non ebber riguardo a' proprii figliuoli; questi adempirono la tua parola, e serbarono inviolato il tuo patto.
10 They wil teach your customs to Jacob, and your Law to Israel. They wil put incense before you andburnt offerings on your altar.	10 Insegneranno i tuoi giudizi o Giacobbe, e la tua legge o Israele: eglino, quando tu sarai in furore, ti presenteranno i timiami, e gli olocausti sul tuo altare.
11 Yahweh, bless his worthiness, and accept the actions he performs. Crush the loins of those who riseagainst him and of his foes, so that they rise no more!	11 Benedici, o Signore, la sua fortezza, e accetta le opere delle sue mani. Percuoti alle spalle i suoi nemici, e non si levino in piè quelli che l’odiano.
12 Of Benjamin he said: Beloved of Yahweh, he rests trustful y near him. The Most High protects himday after day and dwel s between his hil sides.	12 E di Beniamin disse: Egli, il dilettissimo del Signore, con lui si starà in tutta fidanza: vi starà come in letto nuziale, e riposerà tra le braccia di lui.
13 Of Joseph he said: His land is blessed by Yahweh. For him the best of heaven's dew and of the deepthat lies below,	13 Disse parimente di Giuseppe: La terra di lui è la benedetta dal Signore pe' frutti del cielo, pelle rugiade, e le sorgenti che scaturiscon da basso;
14 the best of what the sun makes grow, of what springs with every month,	14 Pe' frutti che son prodotti dal cielo, e dalla luna,
15 the first-fruits of the ancient mountains, the best from the hil s of old	15 E che nascono sulle cime degli antichi monti, e pe' frutti de' colli eterni:
16 the best of the land and al it holds, the favour of him who dwells in the Bush. May the hair grow thickon the head of Joseph, on the brow of the consecrated one among his brothers!	16 E pelle biade della terra, e per tutti i beni, onde ella è ripiena. La benedizione di lui che apparve nel roveto, scenda sul capo di Giuseppe, e sulla cima del capo di lui che è un Nazareo tra' suoi fratelli.
17 First-born of the Bul , his the glory. His horns are the wild ox's horns, with which he gores thepeoples to the very ends of the earth. Such are the myriads of Ephraim, such are the thousands of Manasseh.	17 La sua bellezza è come quella del primogenito del tauro; le corna di lui, corna di rinoceronte: con queste egli getterà in aria le genti fino agli ultimi confini della terra. Tali sono le miriadi di Ephraim, e le migliaia di Manasse.
18 Of Zebulun he said: Prosper, Zebulun, in your expeditions, and you, Issachar, in your tents!	18 E a Zabulon disse: Rallegrati, o Zabulon, nel tuo andare, e venire; come tu, o Issachar, nelle tue tende.
19 On the mountain where the people come to pray they offer upright sacrifices, for they taste the richesof the seas and the treasures hidden in the sands.	19 Eglino inviteranno i popoli al monte: ivi immoleranno vittime di giustizia. Ei succhieran come latte le ricchezze de' mari, e i tesori nascosti sotto le arene.
20 Of Gad he said: Blessed be he who gives Gad space enough! He lies there like a lioness; he hassavaged arm and face and head.	20 E a Gad disse: Benedetto Gad nelle sue ampie tenute: egli si è sdraiato come un lione: ha sbranata la spalla, e la testa della preda.
21 Then he took the first portion for himself, saw that there was stored up for him a leader's share. Hehas come at the head of the people, has carried out the saving justice of Yahweh and his judgements on Israel.	21 Egli ha veduta la sua prerogativa, perché nella sua porzione doveva esser depositato il Dottore: egli è andato insieme co' principi del popolo, e ha eseguiti gli ordini del Signore, e il suo debito verso Israele.
22 Of Dan he said: Dan is a lion cub leaping from Bashan.	22 A Dan parimente disse: Dan giovine lioncello di Basan scorrerà per lungo tratto.
23 Of Naphtali he said: Naphtali, sated with favours, fil ed with the blessings of Yahweh: the west andsouth are to be his domain.	23 E di Nephtali disse: Nephtali nuoterà nell'abbondanza, e sarà ricolmo delle benedizioni del Signore; avrà suo dominio al mare, e a mezzodì.
24 Of Asher he said: Most blessed of the sons let Asher be! Let him be the most privileged of hisbrothers and let him bathe his feet in oil!	24 Disse di poi di Aser: Sia Aser benedetto nella sua prole, sia caro a' suoi fratelli: ei bagnerà i suoi piedi nell'olio.
25 Be your bolts of iron and of bronze and your security as lasting as your days!	25 I suoi calzari saran di ferro, e di rame. Come i giorni di tua gioventù, tali quelli di tua vecchiezza.
26 No one is like the God of Jeshurun: he rides the heavens to your rescue, rides the clouds in hismajesty!	26 Non v’ha altro Dio simile al Dio rettissimo (Israele): colui che siede sopra de' cieli, è tuo protettore. Egli colla sua possanza governa le nubi:
27 The God of old is your refuge, his the eternal arm which here below drives the enemy before you; heit is who says, 'Destroy!'	27 Colassù è il suo abitacolo, e quaggiù egli stende le sue braccia eterne: ei metterà in fuga davanti a te i tuoi nemici, e dirà loro: Siate ridotti in polvere.
28 Israel rests trustfully. The well-spring of Jacob is chosen out for a land of corn and wine; thereheaven itself rains down dew.	28 Israele si starà nelle sue abitazioni con tutta fidanza, e da sé solo. L’occhio di Giacobbe godrà lo spettacolo di una terra feconda di grano, e di vino, e i cieli pioveranno a diluvii le rugiade.
29 Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, O victorious people? Yahweh is the shield that protectsyou and the sword that leads you to triumph. Your enemies wil try to corrupt you, but you yourself wil trample ontheir backs.	29 Beato se’ tu, o Israele: chi è mai simile a te, o popolo, che hai tua salute nel Signore? Egli scudo che ti protegge, egli spada di gloriosa vittoria per te: i tuoi nemici ti mancheranno di fede, e tu calpesterai i colli loro.
