Luke 5

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Now it happened that he was standing one day by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the crowd pressinground him listening to the word of God,	1 Un giorno, mentre si trovava sulla riva del lago di Genèsaret e la folla gli faceva ressa intorno e ascoltava la parola di Dio,
2 when he caught sight of two boats at the water's edge. The fishermen had got out of them and werewashing their nets.	2 egli vide due barche vuote sulla riva. I pescatori erano scesi e stavano lavando le loro reti.
3 He got into one of the boats -- it was Simon's -- and asked him to put out a little from the shore. Then hesat down and taught the crowds from the boat.	3 Salì su una di quelle barche, quella che apparteneva a Simone, e pregò questi di allontanarsi un po' dalla riva. Sedutosi, si mise a insegnare alla folla dalla barca.
4 When he had finished speaking he said to Simon, 'Put out into deep water and pay out your nets for acatch.'	4 Quando ebbe finito di parlare, disse a Simone: "Prendi il largo e insieme ai tuoi compagni getta le reti per la pesca".
5 Simon replied, 'Master, we worked hard al night long and caught nothing, but if you say so, I wil payout the nets.'	5 Simone gli rispose: "Maestro, abbiamo faticato tutta la notte senza prendere neppure un pesce; però, sulla tua parola, getterò le reti".
6 And when they had done this they netted such a huge number of fish that their nets began to tear,	6 Gettatele, presero subito una tale quantità di pesci che le loro reti si rompevano.
7 so they signal ed to their companions in the other boat to come and help them; when these came, theyfilled both boats to sinking point.	7 Allora chiamarono i compagni dell'altra barca perché venissero ad aiutarli. Essi vennero e riempirono le due barche a tal punto che quasi affondavano.
8 When Simon Peter saw this he fel at the knees of Jesus saying, 'Leave me, Lord; I am a sinful man.'	8 Vedendo questo, Pietro si gettò ai piedi di Gesù dicendo: "Allontànati da me, Signore, perché io sono un peccatore".
9 For he and all his companions were completely awestruck at the catch they had made;	9 Infatti Pietro e tutti quelli che erano con lui furono presi da grande stupore per la gran quantità di pesci che avevano pescato.
10 so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were Simon's partners. But Jesus said to Simon,'Do not be afraid; from now on it is people you wil be catching.'	10 Lo stesso capitò a Giacomo e Giovanni, figli di Zebedeo, che erano compagni di Simone. E Gesù disse a Simone: "Non temere: da questo momento sarai pescatore di uomini".
11 Then, bringing their boats back to land they left everything and fol owed him.	11 Allora essi, riportate le barche a terra, abbandonando tutto lo seguirono.
12 Now it happened that Jesus was in one of the towns when suddenly a man appeared, covered with askin-disease. Seeing Jesus he fel on his face and implored him saying, 'Sir, if you are wil ing you can cleanseme.'	12 Un giorno, mentre si trovava in una città, un lebbroso gli si fece incontro e, appena lo vide, gli si gettò ai piedi e lo supplicò dicendo: "Signore, se vuoi, puoi guarirmi".
13 He stretched out his hand, and touched him saying, 'I am wil ing. Be cleansed.' At once the skin-disease left him.	13 Gesù lo toccò con la mano e gli disse: "Lo voglio, sii guarito". Subito la lebbra sparì.
14 He ordered him to tell no one, 'But go and show yourself to the priest and make the offering for yourcleansing just as Moses prescribed, as evidence to them.'	14 Gli ordinò di non dirlo a nessuno: "Rècati, invece, dal sacerdote e mostrati a lui. Poi fa' l'offerta del sacrificio, come Mosè ha stabilito, perché diventi per loro un segno".
15 But the news of him kept spreading, and large crowds would gather to hear him and to have theiril nesses cured,	15 La sua fama si diffondeva sempre di più; molta gente si radunava per ascoltarlo e farsi guarire dalle malattie.
16 but he would go off to some deserted place and pray.	16 Ma Gesù si ritirava in luoghi deserti e pregava.
17 Now it happened that he was teaching one day, and Pharisees and teachers of the Law, who hadcome from every vil age in Galilee, from Judaea and from Jerusalem, were sitting there. And the power of theLord was there so that he should heal.	17 Un giorno sedeva insegnando. Stavano seduti anche farisei e dottori della legge, che erano venuti da molti villaggi della Galilea, della Giudea e da Gerusalemme. E la potenza del Signore gli faceva operare guarigioni.
18 And now some men appeared, bringing on a bed a paralysed man whom they were trying to bring inand lay down in front of him.	18 Alcune persone intanto, portando su di un letto un uomo che era paralitico, cercavano di farlo passare e di metterlo davanti a lui.
19 But as they could find no way of getting the man through the crowd, they went up onto the top of thehouse and lowered him and his stretcher down through the tiles into the middle of the gathering, in front ofJesus.	19 Ma non riuscendo a introdurlo a causa della folla, salirono sul tetto e attraverso le tegole lo calarono giù con il lettuccio, proprio in mezzo dove si trovava Gesù.
20 Seeing their faith he said, 'My friend, your sins are forgiven you.'	20 Vedendo la loro fede, Gesù disse: "Uomo, ti sono rimessi i tuoi peccati".
21 The scribes and the Pharisees began to think this over. 'Who is this man, talking blasphemy? Who butGod alone can forgive sins?'	21 I dottori della legge e i farisei cominciarono a discutere dicendo: "Chi è costui che osa parlare così contro Dio? Chi può rimettere i peccati se non Dio soltanto?".
22 But Jesus, aware of their thoughts, made them this reply, 'What are these thoughts you have in yourhearts?	22 Gesù, conosciuti i loro ragionamenti, rispose: "Perché ragionate così dentro di voi?
23 Which of these is easier: to say, "Your sins are forgiven you," or to say, "Get up and walk"?	23 E' più facile dire: "Ti sono rimessi i tuoi peccati", oppure: "A'lzati e cammina"?
24 But to prove to you that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins,' -- he said to theparalysed man-'I order you: get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home.'	24 Ebbene, perché sappiate che il Figlio dell'uomo ha il potere sulla terra di rimettere i peccati", si rivolse al paralitico, dicendo: "Ti dico: àlzati, prendi il tuo lettuccio e va' a casa tua".
25 And immediately before their very eyes he got up, picked up what he had been lying on and wenthome praising God.	25 All'istante quell'uomo si alzò davanti a loro, prese il lettuccio su cui giaceva e andò a casa sua, rendendo grazie a Dio.
26 They were all astounded and praised God and were fil ed with awe, saying, 'We have seen strangethings today.'	26 Tutti furono pieni di stupore e innalzavano lode a Dio. Presi da timore, dicevano: "Oggi abbiamo visto cose meravigliose".
27 When he went out after this, he noticed a tax collector, Levi by name, sitting at the tax office, and saidto him, 'Fol ow me.'	27 Dopo questo Gesù uscì e vide un pubblicano di nome Levi seduto al banco delle imposte, e gli disse: "Séguimi".
28 And leaving everything Levi got up and fol owed him.	28 Allora, lasciando ogni cosa, si alzò e lo seguì.
29 In his honour Levi held a great reception in his house, and with them at table was a large gathering oftax col ectors and others.	29 Poi Levi gli preparò un grande banchetto in casa sua. C'era un gran numero di pubblicani e di altra gente seduta a tavola con loro.
30 The Pharisees and their scribes complained to his disciples and said, 'Why do you eat and drink withtax col ectors and sinners?'	30 I farisei e i dottori della legge mormoravano e dicevano ai discepoli di Gesù: "Perché mangiate e bevete con i pubblicani e i peccatori?".
31 Jesus said to them in reply, 'It is not those that are wel who need the doctor, but the sick.	31 Rispose Gesù: "Le persone sane non hanno bisogno del medico; sono i malati invece ad averne bisogno.
32 I have come to cal not the upright but sinners to repentance.'	32 Io non sono venuto a chiamare i giusti, ma i peccatori affinché si convertano".
33 They then said to him, 'John's disciples are always fasting and saying prayers, and the disciples of thePharisees, too, but yours go on eating and drinking.'	33 Gli dissero allora alcuni: "I discepoli di Giovanni digiunano spesso e vi aggiungono orazioni; così pure fanno i discepoli dei farisei. Invece i tuoi mangiano e bevono".
34 Jesus replied, 'Surely you cannot make the bridegroom's attendants fast while the bridegroom is stillwith them?	34 Rispose Gesù: "Vi pare possibile far digiunare gl'invitati a nozze, mentre lo sposo è con loro?
35 But the time wil come when the bridegroom is taken away from them; then, in those days, they wilfast.'	35 Più tardi verrà il tempo in cui lo sposo sarà portato via da loro; allora faranno digiuno".
36 He also told them a parable, 'No one tears a piece from a new cloak to put it on an old cloak;otherwise, not only wil the new one be torn, but the piece taken from the new wil not match the old.	36 Diceva loro anche una parabola: "Nessuno strappa un pezzo di un vestito nuovo per attaccarlo ad un vestito vecchio; altrimenti si trova con il vestito nuovo strappato e al vestito vecchio non si adatta il pezzo preso da quello nuovo.
37 'And nobody puts new wine in old wineskins; otherwise, the new wine wil burst the skins and run towaste, and the skins wil be ruined.	37 E nessuno mette del vino nuovo in otri vecchi; altrimenti il vino nuovo fa scoppiare gli otri, si versa fuori e vanno perduti gli otri.
38 No; new wine must be put in fresh skins.	38 Invece il vino nuovo si mette in otri nuovi.
39 And nobody who has been drinking old wine wants new. "The old is good," he says.'	39 E nessuno chiede vino nuovo dopo aver bevuto quello vecchio, perché dice: "Il vecchio è migliore".
