1 Now it happened that he was standing one day by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the crowd pressinground him listening to the word of God,	1 ויהי כאשר נדחק המון העם לשמע את דבר האלהים והוא עמד על יד ים גניסר
2 when he caught sight of two boats at the water's edge. The fishermen had got out of them and werewashing their nets.	2 וירא שתי אניות עמדות על יד הים והדיגים יצאו מהן וידיחו את המכמרות
3 He got into one of the boats -- it was Simon's -- and asked him to put out a little from the shore. Then hesat down and taught the crowds from the boat.	3 וירד אל אחת מן האניות אשר היא לשמעון ויבקש ממנו להוליכו מעט מן היבשה אל הים וישב וילמד את העם מתוך האניה
4 When he had finished speaking he said to Simon, 'Put out into deep water and pay out your nets for acatch.'	4 ויכל לדבר ויאמר אל שמעון הוליכה אל עמק הים והורידו את מכמרותיכם לצוד
5 Simon replied, 'Master, we worked hard al night long and caught nothing, but if you say so, I wil payout the nets.'	5 ויען שמעון ויאמר אליו מורה כל הלילה יגענו ולא לכדנו מאומה אך על פי דברך אוריד את המכמרת
6 And when they had done this they netted such a huge number of fish that their nets began to tear,	6 ויעשו כן וילכדו דגים הרבה מאד ותקרע מכמרתם
7 so they signal ed to their companions in the other boat to come and help them; when these came, theyfilled both boats to sinking point.	7 ויניפו יד אל חבריהם אשר באמיה השנית לבוא אליהם ולעזרם ויבאו וימלאו את שתי האניות עד כי שקעו
8 When Simon Peter saw this he fel at the knees of Jesus saying, 'Leave me, Lord; I am a sinful man.'	8 ויהי כראות שמעון פטרוס את זאת ויפל לברכי ישוע ויאמר אדני צא נא מעמי כי איש חוטא אנכי
9 For he and all his companions were completely awestruck at the catch they had made;	9 כי שמה החזיקה אותו ואת כל אשר אתו על ציד הדגים אשר צדו
10 so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were Simon's partners. But Jesus said to Simon,'Do not be afraid; from now on it is people you wil be catching.'	10 וכן גם את יעקב ואת יוחנן בני זבדי אשר התחברו עם שמעון ויאמר ישוע אל שמעון אל תירא מעתה צוד תצוד אנשים
11 Then, bringing their boats back to land they left everything and fol owed him.	11 ויוליכו את האניות אל היבשה ויעזבו את הכל וילכו אחריו
12 Now it happened that Jesus was in one of the towns when suddenly a man appeared, covered with askin-disease. Seeing Jesus he fel on his face and implored him saying, 'Sir, if you are wil ing you can cleanseme.'	12 ויהי בהיותו באחת הערים והנה איש מלא צרעת וירא את ישוע ויפל על פניו ויתחנן אליו לאמר אדני אם תחפץ תוכל לטהרני
13 He stretched out his hand, and touched him saying, 'I am wil ing. Be cleansed.' At once the skin-disease left him.	13 וישלח את ידו ויגע בו ויאמר חפץ אנכי טהר ופתאם סרה ממנו הצרעת
14 He ordered him to tell no one, 'But go and show yourself to the priest and make the offering for yourcleansing just as Moses prescribed, as evidence to them.'	14 ויעד בו לבלתי ספר לאיש כי אם לך והראה אל הכהן והקרב קרבן על טהרתך כאשר צוה משה לעדות להם
15 But the news of him kept spreading, and large crowds would gather to hear him and to have theiril nesses cured,	15 ושמעו הולך הלוך וגדל ויקבצו עם רב לשמוע ולהרפא בידו מתחלואיהם
16 but he would go off to some deserted place and pray.	16 והוא סר אל המדברות ויתפלל
17 Now it happened that he was teaching one day, and Pharisees and teachers of the Law, who hadcome from every vil age in Galilee, from Judaea and from Jerusalem, were sitting there. And the power of theLord was there so that he should heal.	17 ויהי באחד הימים והוא מלמד וישבו שם פרושים ומורי התורה אשר באו מכל כפרי הגליל ומיהודה וירושלים וגבורת יהוה היתה בו לרפוא
18 And now some men appeared, bringing on a bed a paralysed man whom they were trying to bring inand lay down in front of him.	18 והנה אנשים נושאים איש במטה והוא נכה אברים ויבקשו להביאו הביתה ולשום לפניו
19 But as they could find no way of getting the man through the crowd, they went up onto the top of thehouse and lowered him and his stretcher down through the tiles into the middle of the gathering, in front ofJesus.	19 ולא מצאו דרך להכניסו מרב העם ויעלו הגגה ויורידהו ואת ערשו בין הרעפים לתוך הבית לפני ישוע
20 Seeing their faith he said, 'My friend, your sins are forgiven you.'	20 וירא את אמונתם ויאמר אליו בן אדם נסלחו לך חטאתיך
21 The scribes and the Pharisees began to think this over. 'Who is this man, talking blasphemy? Who butGod alone can forgive sins?'	21 ויחלו הסופרים והפרושים לחשב מחשבות לאמר מי הוא זה המדבר גדופים מי יוכל לסלח חטאים מבלעדי האלהים לבדו
22 But Jesus, aware of their thoughts, made them this reply, 'What are these thoughts you have in yourhearts?	22 וידע ישוע את מחשבותם ויען ויאמר אליהם מה אתם חשבים בלבבכם
23 Which of these is easier: to say, "Your sins are forgiven you," or to say, "Get up and walk"?	23 מה הוא הנקל האמר נסלחו לך חטאתיך אם אמר קום והתהלך
24 But to prove to you that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins,' -- he said to theparalysed man-'I order you: get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home.'	24 אך למען תדעון כי בן האדם יש לו השלטן בארץ לסלח חטאים ויאמר אל נכה האברים אמר אני אליך קום ושא את ערשך ולך לך אל ביתך
25 And immediately before their very eyes he got up, picked up what he had been lying on and wenthome praising God.	25 וימהר ויקם לעיניהם וישא את משכבו וילך לו אל ביתו מהלל את האלהים וישא את משכבו וילך לו אל ביתו מהלל את האלהים
26 They were all astounded and praised God and were fil ed with awe, saying, 'We have seen strangethings today.'	26 ושמה החזיקה את כלם ויברכו את האלהים וימלאו יראה ויאמרו כי נפלאות ראינו היום
27 When he went out after this, he noticed a tax collector, Levi by name, sitting at the tax office, and saidto him, 'Fol ow me.'	27 ויהי אחרי כן ויצא וירא מוכס ושמו לוי יושב בבית המכס ויאמר אליו לכה אחרי
28 And leaving everything Levi got up and fol owed him.	28 ויעזב את הכל ויקם וילך אחריו
29 In his honour Levi held a great reception in his house, and with them at table was a large gathering oftax col ectors and others.	29 ויעש לו לוי משתה גדול בביתו ועם רב של מוכסים ואנשים אחרים היו מסבים עמהם
30 The Pharisees and their scribes complained to his disciples and said, 'Why do you eat and drink withtax col ectors and sinners?'	30 ]13-03[ וילונו הסופרים אשר בהם והפרושים על תלמידיו ויאמרו למה אתם אכלים אליהם הבריאים אינם צריכים לרפא כי אם החלים
31 Jesus said to them in reply, 'It is not those that are wel who need the doctor, but the sick.	31 ]13-03[
32 I have come to cal not the upright but sinners to repentance.'	32 לא באתי לקרוא הצדיקים כי אם החטאים לתשובה
33 They then said to him, 'John's disciples are always fasting and saying prayers, and the disciples of thePharisees, too, but yours go on eating and drinking.'	33 ויאמרו אליו הן תלמידי יוחנן צמים הרבה ואמרים תחנות וגם תלמידי הפרושים עשים כן ותלמידיך אכלים ושתים
34 Jesus replied, 'Surely you cannot make the bridegroom's attendants fast while the bridegroom is stillwith them?	34 ויאמר אליהם התוכלו אנס בני החפה לצום והחתן עוד עמהם
35 But the time wil come when the bridegroom is taken away from them; then, in those days, they wilfast.'	35 ואולם ימים באים ולקח מאתם החתן אז יצומו בימים ההמה
36 He also told them a parable, 'No one tears a piece from a new cloak to put it on an old cloak;otherwise, not only wil the new one be torn, but the piece taken from the new wil not match the old.	36 וידבר אליהם גם אם המשל הזה אין איש מעלה מטלית של בגד חדש על בגד בלוי כי אז גם החדש יקרע וגם לא תשוה מטלית החדש לבלוי
37 'And nobody puts new wine in old wineskins; otherwise, the new wine wil burst the skins and run towaste, and the skins wil be ruined.	37 ואין איש נתן יין חדש בנאדות בלים כי אז היין החדש יבקע את הנאדות והוא ישפך והנאדות יאבדו
38 No; new wine must be put in fresh skins.	38 אך יתן היין החדש בנאדות חדשים ושניהם יחדו ישמרו
39 And nobody who has been drinking old wine wants new. "The old is good," he says.'	39 ואשר שתה יין ישן איננו חפץ עוד ביין חדש כי יאמר הישן הוא נעים ממנו
