Zephaniah 3

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Disaster to the rebel ious, the befouled, the tyrannical city!	1 Guai alla provocatrice, alla città redenta, alla colomba!
2 She has not listened to the cal , she has not bowed to correction, she has not trusted in Yahweh, shehas not drawn near to her God.	2 Non è stata a sentir la voce, non ha accettati gli avvertimenti, non ha posta la sua fiducia nel Signore, non si è avvicinata al suo Dio.
3 The rulers she has are roaring lions, her judges are wolves of the wastelands which leave nothing overfor the morning,	3 I suoi principi sono in mezzo a lei come leoni ruggenti, i suoi giudici son lupi della sera, e non lascian niente pel giorno dopo.
4 her prophets are braggarts, impostors, her priests have profaned what is holy and violated the Law.	4 I suoi profeti sono degli esaltati, uomini infedeli, i suoi sacerdoti profanano le cose sante e violano la legge.
5 Yahweh the Upright is in her, he does no wrong; morning by morning he gives judgement, each dawnunfailingly (but the wrong-doer knows no shame).	5 Il Signore è giusto in mezzo ad essa, nulla farà d'ingiusto, ogni mattino pubblicherà il suo giudizio, che non resterà nascosto; ma l'iniquo non sa che sia vergognarsi.
6 I have exterminated the nations, their corner-towers lie in ruins; I have emptied their streets, no onewalks through them; their cities have been destroyed and are now deserted and unpeopled.	6 Io ho sterminate le nazioni, ho distrutte le loro fortezze, ho rese deserte le loro vie, dove non è chi passi, le loro città son desolate, non rimanendovi uomo, nè abitatore.
7 I thought, 'At least you wil fear me, at least you wil bow to correction,' and none of the punishments Ibrought on them will disappear from their view. But no, it only made them more anxious to do whatever wascorrupt.	7 E io dissi: « Almeno tu mi temerai, accetterai gli avvertimenti, e la sua dimora non andrà distrutta per tutte quelle cose per le quali l'ho castigata; ma essi posero ogni loro cura nel render perversi tutti i loro pensieri.
8 So wait for me -- declares Yahweh -- for the day when I rise as accuser, for I am determined to gatherthe nations, to assemble the kingdoms, and on you to vent my fury, the whole heat of my anger (for the wholeearth will be devoured by the fire of my jealousy).	8 Per questo, aspettami — dice il Signore — nel giorno della mia resurrezione, in futuro; perchè ho deciso di radunare le nazioni e di riunir i regni per versare sopra di essi il mio sdegno, tutta l'ira mia furibonda: dal fuoco del mio zelo sarà divorata tutta la terra.
9 Yes, then I shall purge the lips of the peoples, so that all may invoke the name of Yahweh and servehim shoulder to shoulder.	9 Allora io donerò ai popoli dei labbri puri, affinchè tutti invochino il nome del Signore, e lo servano di comune accordo.
10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, my suppliants will bring me tribute.	10 Dalle regioni oltre i fiumi dell'Etiopia verranno i miei adoratori, i figli dei miei dispersi mi portoran doni.
11 When that Day comes you wil never again be ashamed of al the deeds with which you once rebelledagainst me, for I shal rid you of those who exult in your pride; never again wil you strut on my holy mountain.	11 In quel giorno tu non avrai da arrossire per tutti i tuoi ritrovati coi quali hai prevaricato contro di me, perchè allora toglierò di mezzo a te quelli che magnificano la tua superbia, e per l'avvenire non t'esalterai più sopra la mia santa montagna.
12 But in you I shal leave surviving a humble and lowly people,	12 Io lascerò in mezzo a te un popolo povero e bisognoso, ed essi spereranno nel nome del Signore.
13 and those who are left in Israel wil take refuge in the name of Yahweh. They will do no wrong, wil tellno lies; nor wil a deceitful tongue be found in their mouths. But they will be able to graze and rest with no one toalarm them.	13 Il resto d'Israele non commetterà iniquità, non dirà menzogne, non si troverà più nella sua bocca una lingua ingannatrice, perchè essi avran pascoli, e si riposeranno, e non ci sarà chi li spaventi.
14 Shout for joy, daughter of Zion, Israel, shout aloud! Rejoice, exult with al your heart, daughter ofJerusalem!	14 Canta inni, o figlia di Sion, giubila, o Israele, rallegrati ed esulta di tutto cuore, o figlia di Gerusalemme:
15 Yahweh has repealed your sentence; he has turned your enemy away. Yahweh is king among you,Israel, you have nothing more to fear.	15 il Signore ha ritirato il decreto contro di te, ha allontanati i tuoi nemici: il re d'Israele, il Signore, sta in mezzo a te, e tu non avrai a temere più del male.
16 When that Day comes, the message for Jerusalem wil be: Zion, have no fear, do not let your handsfal limp.	16 In quel giorno si dirà a Gerusalemme: Non temere, o Sion, non ti caschin le braccia.
17 Yahweh your God is there with you, the warrior-Saviour. He will rejoice over you with happy song, hewil renew you by his love, he will dance with shouts of joy for you,	17 Il Signore, il tuo Dio, è in mezzo a te, il forte, egli ti salverà. In te troverà la sua gioia, la sua allegrezza, starà silenzioso nel suo amore, esulterà in te in mezzo alle lodi.
18 as on a day of festival. I have taken away your misfortune, no longer need you bear the disgrace of it.	18 I vani che si sono allontanati dalla legge li radunerò, perchè appartenevano a te, affinchè tu non abbia più da arrossire a causa di loro.
19 I am taking action here and now against your oppressors. When that time comes I wil rescue thelame, and gather the strays, and I wil win them praise and renown when I restore their fortunes.	19 Ecco che io farò morire in quel giorno tutti quelli che ti hanno afflitto, e salverò la zoppicante, e raccoglierò la scacciata, e li farò gloriosi e rinomati in tutte le terre della loro ignominia.
20 At that time I shal be your guide, at the time when I gather you in, I shall give you praise and renownamong all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes under your own eyes, declares Yahweh.	20 In quel tempo vi farò tornare, in quel tempo vi radunerò; e vi farò rinomati e gloriosi presso tutti i popoli della terra, quando vi farò tornar dall'esilio davanti ai vostri occhi — dice il Signore ».
