Zephaniah 3

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Disaster to the rebel ious, the befouled, the tyrannical city!	1 Guai alla città ribelle e impura, alla città tiranna!
2 She has not listened to the cal , she has not bowed to correction, she has not trusted in Yahweh, shehas not drawn near to her God.	2 Non ha mai dato ascolto all'invito, non ha mai accettato il richiamo! Nel Signore non ha posto fiducia, al suo Dio non si è avvicinata!
3 The rulers she has are roaring lions, her judges are wolves of the wastelands which leave nothing overfor the morning,	3 I suoi prìncipi dentro di essa sono leoni ruggenti; i suoi giudici, lupi alla sera, che non hanno sbranato nulla al mattino;
4 her prophets are braggarts, impostors, her priests have profaned what is holy and violated the Law.	4 i suoi profeti sono millantatori, uomini bugiardi; i suoi sacerdoti profanano le cose sacre, violano la legge!
5 Yahweh the Upright is in her, he does no wrong; morning by morning he gives judgement, each dawnunfailingly (but the wrong-doer knows no shame).	5 Il Signore giusto è in mezzo ad essa, egli non commette iniquità; al mattino egli promulga il suo decreto, come la luce non viene mai meno. Ma l'iniquo non conosce vergogna!
6 I have exterminated the nations, their corner-towers lie in ruins; I have emptied their streets, no onewalks through them; their cities have been destroyed and are now deserted and unpeopled.	6 Ho sterminato i popoli, sono state distrutte le loro torri; ho reso deserte le loro vie; non c'è nemmeno un passante; sono state saccheggiate le loro città, non c'è chi vi abiti.
7 I thought, 'At least you wil fear me, at least you wil bow to correction,' and none of the punishments Ibrought on them will disappear from their view. But no, it only made them more anxious to do whatever wascorrupt.	7 Io pensavo: Tu mi temerai certamente, ti lascerai correggere! Non potranno cancellarsi dai suoi occhi tutte le punizioni che io le ho inflitto! Macché! Si sono affrettati a corrompere tutte le loro azioni!
8 So wait for me -- declares Yahweh -- for the day when I rise as accuser, for I am determined to gatherthe nations, to assemble the kingdoms, and on you to vent my fury, the whole heat of my anger (for the wholeearth will be devoured by the fire of my jealousy).	8 Perciò aspettatemi, oracolo del Signore, nel giorno in cui mi leverò come accusatore; sì, è mia decisione radunar le genti, convocare i regni, per riversare su di voi il mio sdegno, tutto l'ardore della mia ira! Sì, con il fuoco della mia gelosia consumerò tutta la terra!
9 Yes, then I shall purge the lips of the peoples, so that all may invoke the name of Yahweh and servehim shoulder to shoulder.	9 Sì, allora io darò alle genti labbra pure, perché tutti invochino il nome del Signore, perché lo servano spalla a spalla.
10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, my suppliants will bring me tribute.	10 Dalla sponda dei fiumi di Etiopia fino agli angoli più lontani del settentrione si porteranno a me le offerte.
11 When that Day comes you wil never again be ashamed of al the deeds with which you once rebelledagainst me, for I shal rid you of those who exult in your pride; never again wil you strut on my holy mountain.	11 In quel giorno: non avrai più vergogna delle azioni commesse contro di me; perché allora io toglierò dal tuo seno i tuoi superbi orgogliosi e non continuerai più a pavoneggiarti sul monte mio santo.
12 But in you I shal leave surviving a humble and lowly people,	12 Io lascerò in te un popolo umile e misero, cercherà rifugio nel nome del Signore
13 and those who are left in Israel wil take refuge in the name of Yahweh. They will do no wrong, wil tellno lies; nor wil a deceitful tongue be found in their mouths. But they will be able to graze and rest with no one toalarm them.	13 il resto d'Israele. Non commetteranno più l'iniquità e non diranno più menzogne, non si troverà più nella loro bocca una lingua bugiarda. Pascoleranno e riposeranno senza che alcuno li molesti.
14 Shout for joy, daughter of Zion, Israel, shout aloud! Rejoice, exult with al your heart, daughter ofJerusalem!	14 Giubila, figlia di Sion, rallegrati, Israele, gioisci ed esulta di tutto cuore, figlia di Gerusalemme:
15 Yahweh has repealed your sentence; he has turned your enemy away. Yahweh is king among you,Israel, you have nothing more to fear.	15 il Signore ha cancellato i decreti della tua condanna, ha sviato altrove il tuo nemico. Il Signore, re d'Israele, è in mezzo a te, non avrai più da temere la sventura.
16 When that Day comes, the message for Jerusalem wil be: Zion, have no fear, do not let your handsfal limp.	16 In quel giorno si dirà a Gerusalemme: "Non temere, Sion, non ti lasciar cadere le mani!
17 Yahweh your God is there with you, the warrior-Saviour. He will rejoice over you with happy song, hewil renew you by his love, he will dance with shouts of joy for you,	17 Il Signore, tuo Dio, è in mezzo a te, egli è un guerriero che salva! Egli esulterà di gioia per te, ti rinnoverà per il suo amore, danzerà per te giubilando,
18 as on a day of festival. I have taken away your misfortune, no longer need you bear the disgrace of it.	18 come nei giorni di festa!". Ho allontanato da te la sventura, ho tolto da te l'obbrobrio!
19 I am taking action here and now against your oppressors. When that time comes I wil rescue thelame, and gather the strays, and I wil win them praise and renown when I restore their fortunes.	19 Eccomi all'opera: sterminerò tutti i tuoi oppressori! In quel giorno salverò chi zoppica e chi è sviato raccoglierò; li renderò oggetto di lode e di fama in tutta la terra della loro ignominia!
20 At that time I shal be your guide, at the time when I gather you in, I shall give you praise and renownamong all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes under your own eyes, declares Yahweh.	20 In quel tempo io sarò alla vostra testa; in quel tempo io vi farò riposare! Vi procurerò lode e fama in mezzo a tutti i popoli della terra, quando compirò la vostra restaurazione davanti ai vostri occhi, dice il Signore.
