Zephaniah 3

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Disaster to the rebel ious, the befouled, the tyrannical city!	1 ¡Ay de la rebelde, de la impura, de la ciudad opresora!
2 She has not listened to the cal , she has not bowed to correction, she has not trusted in Yahweh, shehas not drawn near to her God.	2 Ella no escuchó el llamado, no aprendió la lección, no puso su confianza en el Señor ni se acercó a su Dios.
3 The rulers she has are roaring lions, her judges are wolves of the wastelands which leave nothing overfor the morning,	3 Sus jefes, en medio de ella, son leones rugientes; sus jueces, lobos nocturnos, que no dejan nada para roer a la mañana;
4 her prophets are braggarts, impostors, her priests have profaned what is holy and violated the Law.	4 sus profetas son fanfarrones, hombres traicioneros; sus sacerdotes han profanado las cosas santas y han violado la Ley.
5 Yahweh the Upright is in her, he does no wrong; morning by morning he gives judgement, each dawnunfailingly (but the wrong-doer knows no shame).	5 El Señor es justo en medio de ella, no comete injusticias; él dicta su sentencia cada mañana, nunca falta al despuntar el día. Pero el injusto no conoce la vergüenza.
6 I have exterminated the nations, their corner-towers lie in ruins; I have emptied their streets, no onewalks through them; their cities have been destroyed and are now deserted and unpeopled.	6 Yo he arrasado naciones, sus almenas fueron destruidas; dejé desiertas sus calles, nadie las transita; sus ciudades fueron saqueadas, ¡no queda ni un hombre, ni un solo habitante!
7 I thought, 'At least you wil fear me, at least you wil bow to correction,' and none of the punishments Ibrought on them will disappear from their view. But no, it only made them more anxious to do whatever wascorrupt.	7 Yo pensaba: «Al menos tú me temerás, tú aprenderás la lección; no podrá apartarse de sus ojos todo aquello con que yo la he castigado». ¡Pero ellos no se cansaron de pervertir todas sus acciones!
8 So wait for me -- declares Yahweh -- for the day when I rise as accuser, for I am determined to gatherthe nations, to assemble the kingdoms, and on you to vent my fury, the whole heat of my anger (for the wholeearth will be devoured by the fire of my jealousy).	8 Por eso, espérenme –oráculo del Señor– esperen el día en que yo me levantaré como testigo; porque yo he decidido reunir a las naciones y congregar a los reinos, para derramar sobre ellos mi indignación y todo el ardor de mi ira. Porque por el fuego de mis celos será devorada toda la tierra.
9 Yes, then I shall purge the lips of the peoples, so that all may invoke the name of Yahweh and servehim shoulder to shoulder.	9 Entonces, yo haré que sean puros los labios de los pueblos, para que todos invoquen el nombre el Señor y lo sirvan con el mismo empeño.
10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, my suppliants will bring me tribute.	10 Desde más allá de los ríos de Cus, mis adoradores, los que están dispersos, me traerán ofrendas.
11 When that Day comes you wil never again be ashamed of al the deeds with which you once rebelledagainst me, for I shal rid you of those who exult in your pride; never again wil you strut on my holy mountain.	11 Aquel día, ya no tendrás que avergonzarte de las malas acciones con las que me has ofendido, porque yo apartaré a esos jactanciosos prepotentes que están en medio de ti, y ya no volverás a engreírte sobre mi santa Montaña.
12 But in you I shal leave surviving a humble and lowly people,	12 Yo dejaré en medio de ti a un pueblo pobre y humilde, que se refugiará en el nombre del Señor.
13 and those who are left in Israel wil take refuge in the name of Yahweh. They will do no wrong, wil tellno lies; nor wil a deceitful tongue be found in their mouths. But they will be able to graze and rest with no one toalarm them.	13 El resto de Israel no cometerá injusticias ni hablará falsamente; y no se encontrarán en su boca palabras engañosas. Ellos pacerán y descansarán sin que nadie los perturbe.
14 Shout for joy, daughter of Zion, Israel, shout aloud! Rejoice, exult with al your heart, daughter ofJerusalem!	14 ¡Grita de alegría, hija de Sión! ¡Aclama, Israel! ¡Alégrate y regocíjate de todo corazón, hija de Jerusalén!
15 Yahweh has repealed your sentence; he has turned your enemy away. Yahweh is king among you,Israel, you have nothing more to fear.	15 El Señor ha retirado las sentencias que pesaban sobre ti y ha expulsado a tus enemigos. El Rey de Israel, el Señor, está en medio de ti: ya no temerás ningún mal.
16 When that Day comes, the message for Jerusalem wil be: Zion, have no fear, do not let your handsfal limp.	16 Aquel día, se dirá a Jerusalén: ¡No temas, Sión, que no desfallezcan tus manos!
17 Yahweh your God is there with you, the warrior-Saviour. He will rejoice over you with happy song, hewil renew you by his love, he will dance with shouts of joy for you,	17 ¡El Señor, tu Dios, está en medio de ti, es un guerrero victorioso! El exulta de alegría a causa de ti, te renueva con su amor y lanza por ti gritos de alegría,
18 as on a day of festival. I have taken away your misfortune, no longer need you bear the disgrace of it.	18 como en los días de fiesta. Yo aparté de ti la desgracia, para que no cargues más con el oprobio.
19 I am taking action here and now against your oppressors. When that time comes I wil rescue thelame, and gather the strays, and I wil win them praise and renown when I restore their fortunes.	19 En aquel tiempo, yo exterminaré a todos tus opresores, salvaré a las ovejas tullidas, reuniré a las descarriadas, y les daré fama y renombre en todos los países donde tuvieron que avergonzarse.
20 At that time I shal be your guide, at the time when I gather you in, I shall give you praise and renownamong all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes under your own eyes, declares Yahweh.	20 En aquel tiempo, yo los haré volver, en aquel tiempo, los reuniré. Sí, les daré fama y renombre entre todos los pueblos de la tierra, cuando cambie la suerte de ustedes ante sus propios ojos, dice el Señor.
