NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan by Jericho, and said:	1 In der Steppe von Moab, am Jordan bei Jericho, sprach der Herr zu Mose:
2 'Order the Israelites, from the heritage they possess, to give the Levites towns in which to live andpasture land round the towns. You wil give these to the Levites.	2 Befiehl den Israeliten, sie sollen von ihrem Erbbesitz den Leviten einige Städte abgeben, in denen sie sich niederlassen können. Auch die ringsum zu den Städten gehörende Weidefläche sollt ihr den Leviten überlassen.
3 The towns must be their homes and the surrounding pasture land must be for their cattle, theirpossessions and all their animals.	3 Die Städte sollen ihnen als Wohnsitz gehören und die dazugehörenden Weideflächen sollen ihrem Vieh, ihren Herden und allen ihren Tieren zur Verfügung stehen.
4 The pasture land surrounding the towns which you give to the Levites wil extend, from the wal s ofthe towns, for a thousand cubits al round.	4 Die Weideflächen der Städte, die ihr den Leviten gebt, sollen ringsum von der Stadtmauer zweitausend Ellen nach außen reichen.
5 'Outside the town, measure two thousand cubits to the east, two thousand cubits to the south, twothousand cubits to the west and two thousand cubits to the north, the town lying in the centre; such wil be thepasture lands of these towns.	5 Außerhalb der Stadt sollt ihr in östlicher Richtung zweitausend Ellen, in südlicher Richtung zweitausend Ellen, in westlicher Richtung zweitausend Ellen und in nördlicher Richtung zweitausend Ellen abmessen. Die Stadt soll also in der Mitte liegen. Das soll den Leviten als Weidefläche der Städte gehören.
6 The towns you give to the Levites wil be six cities of refuge, ceded by you as sanctuary for those whocommit manslaughter; and you will give forty-two towns in addition.	6 Unter den Städten, die ihr ihnen abgebt, sollen sechs Asylstädte sein, die ihr als Zufluchtsorte für den bestimmt, der einen Menschen erschlagen hat. Außerdem sollt ihr ihnen weitere zweiundvierzig Städte geben.
7 Altogether you wil give the Levites forty-eight towns, with their pasture lands.	7 Im Ganzen sind es achtundvierzig Städte samt ihren Weideflächen, die ihr den Leviten abgeben sollt.
8 Of the towns which you give from the Israelites' possessions, you wil give more from those who havemore, and less from those who have less. Each wil give some of his towns to the Levites, in proportion to theheritage he himself has received.'	8 Die Zahl der Städte, die ihr vom Landbesitz der Israeliten abgebt, sollt ihr bei einem großen Stamm höher, bei einem kleinen niedriger ansetzen; jeder Stamm soll von seinen Städten den Leviten so viele abgeben, wie es der Größe seines eigenen Erbbesitzes entspricht.
9 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	9 Der Herr sprach zu Mose:
10 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "Once you have crossed the Jordan into Canaan,	10 Rede zu den Israeliten und sag zu ihnen: Wenn ihr den Jordan überschritten und Kanaan betreten habt,
11 you wil find towns, some of which you wil make into cities of refuge where those who haveaccidental y committed manslaughter can take sanctuary.	11 dann sollt ihr einige Städte auswählen, die euch als Asylstädte dienen. Dorthin kann einer fliehen, der einen Menschen ohne Vorsatz erschlagen hat.
12 These towns wil afford you refuge from the avenger of blood, so that the kil er will not be put todeath before standing trial before the community.	12 Die Städte sollen euch als Asyl vor dem Bluträcher dienen, sodass der, der getötet hat, nicht sterben muss, bevor er vor dem Gericht der Gemeinde stand.
13 Of the towns you give, six wil serve you as cities of refuge:	13 Von den Städten, die ihr abgebt, sollen euch sechs als Asylstädte dienen.
14 as cities of refuge, you wil give three towns on the other side of the Jordan and wil give three townsin Canaan.	14 Drei dieser Städte sollt ihr jenseits des Jordan und drei in Kanaan bestimmen; sie sollen Asylstädte sein.
15 These six towns wil serve as refuge for the Israelites, for the foreigner and for the resident alien,where anyone who has accidental y kil ed someone can take sanctuary.	15 Den Israeliten, auch den Fremden und den Halbbürgern bei euch, sollen diese sechs Städte als Asyl zur Verfügung stehen; dorthin kann jeder fliehen, der ohne Vorsatz einen Menschen erschlagen hat.
16 "But if he has struck the person with an iron object so as to cause death, he is a murderer. Themurderer wil be put to death.	16 Wenn er ihn aber mit einem Eisengerät so geschlagen hat, dass er stirbt, ist er ein Mörder. Der Mörder ist mit dem Tod zu bestrafen.
17 If he has struck him with a stone meant for kil ing, and has kil ed him, he is a murderer. Themurderer wil be put to death.	17 Wenn er ihn mit einem Stein in der Hand, der groß genug ist, jemanden zu töten, so geschlagen hat, dass er stirbt, ist er ein Mörder. Der Mörder ist mit dem Tod zu bestrafen.
18 Or if he has struck him with a wooden instrument meant for kil ing, and has kil ed him, he is amurderer. The murderer will be put to death.	18 Auch wenn er ihn mit einem hölzernen Gegenstand, der geeignet ist, einen Menschen zu töten, so geschlagen hat, dass er stirbt, ist er ein Mörder. Der Mörder ist mit dem Tod zu bestrafen.
19 The avenger of blood wil put the murderer to death. Whenever he finds him, he wil put him todeath.	19 Der Bluträcher darf den Mörder töten; sobald er ihn trifft, darf er ihn töten.
20 "If the killer has maliciously manhandled his victim, or thrown some lethal missile to strike him down,	20 Wenn einer einen andern aus Hass stößt oder aus dem Hinterhalt nach ihm wirft, sodass er stirbt,
21 or out of enmity dealt him the death-blow with his fist, then he who struck the blow wil be put todeath; he is a murderer; the avenger of blood wil put him to death whenever he finds him.	21 oder wenn er ihn in feindlicher Absicht mit der Hand so schlägt, dass er stirbt, dann soll der, der zugeschlagen hat, mit dem Tod bestraft werden; er ist ein Mörder. Der Bluträcher darf den Mörder töten, sobald er ihn trifft.
22 If, however, he has manhandled his victim by chance, without malice, or thrown some missile at himnot meaning to hit him	22 Wenn aber einer einen andern aus Unachtsamkeit, ohne feindliche Absicht, gestoßen oder ohne Hinterhältigkeit irgendeinen Gegenstand auf ihn geworfen hat
23 or, without seeing him, dropped on him a stone meant for kil ing and so kil ed him, so long as hebore him no malice and wished him no harm,	23 oder wenn er, ohne ihn zu sehen, einen Stein, der einen Menschen töten kann, auf ihn fallen ließ, sodass er starb - vorausgesetzt, er war nicht sein Feind und suchte ihn auch nicht zu schädigen - ,
24 then the community will decide in accordance with these rules between the one who struck the blowand the avenger of blood,	24 dann soll die Gemeinde zwischen dem, der getötet hat, und dem Bluträcher nach diesen Grundsätzen ein Urteil fällen:
25 and wil save the kil er from the clutches of the avenger of blood. They will send him back to the cityof refuge where he had taken sanctuary, and there he wil stay until the death of the high priest who has beenanointed with the holy oil.	25 Die Gemeinde soll den, der getötet hat, vor der Gewalt des Bluträchers retten und ihn in die Asylstadt, in die er geflohen war, zurückbringen. Er darf darin wohnen, bis der Hohepriester stirbt, den man mit heiligem Öl gesalbt hat.
26 Should the kil er leave the bounds of the city of refuge in which he has taken sanctuary	26 Wenn der, der getötet hat, das Gebiet der Asylstadt verlässt, in die er geflohen ist,
27 and the avenger of blood encounter him outside the bounds of his city of refuge, the avenger ofblood may kil him without fear of reprisal;	27 und der Bluträcher ihn außerhalb seiner Asylstadt trifft, darf dieser den, der getötet hat, umbringen; dadurch entsteht ihm keine Blutschuld.
28 since the kil er should stay in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest; only after the deathof the high priest is he free to go back to his own piece of property.	28 Denn der, der getötet hat, soll bis zum Tod des Hohenpriesters in der Asylstadt bleiben; nach dem Tod des Hohenpriesters kann er zu seinem Land und zu seinem Besitz zurückkehren.
29 Such wil be the legal rule for you and your descendants, wherever you may live.	29 Das soll bei euch überall, wo ihr wohnt, von Generation zu Generation als Recht gelten.
30 "In any case of homicide, the evidence of witnesses wil determine whether the kil er must be put todeath; but a single witness is not enough to sustain a capital charge.	30 Wenn irgendjemand einen Menschen erschlägt, darf man den Mörder nur aufgrund von Zeugenaussagen töten; doch aufgrund der Aussage nur eines einzigen Zeugen darf man einen Menschen nicht töten.
31 You wil not accept a ransom for the life of a murderer condemned to death; he must die.	31 Ihr sollt kein Sühnegeld annehmen für das Leben eines Mörders, der schuldig gesprochen und zum Tod verurteilt ist; denn er muss mit dem Tod bestraft werden.
32 Nor wil you accept a ransom for anyone who, having taken sanctuary in his city or refuge, wishes tocome back and live at home before the death of the high priest.	32 Auch dürft ihr von einem, der in eine Asylstadt geflohen ist, kein Sühnegeld annehmen, sodass er vor dem Tod des Hohenpriesters in die Heimat zurückkehren könnte.
33 Do not profane the country you live in. Blood profanes the country and, for the country, the onlyexpiation for the blood shed in it is the blood of the man who shed it.	33 Ihr dürft das Land, in dem ihr wohnt, nicht entweihen; denn Blut entweiht das Land, und man kann das Land von dem darin vergossenen Blut nur durch das Blut dessen entsühnen, der es vergossen hat.
34 So do not defile the country which you live in and where I live; for I, Yahweh, live among theIsraelites." '	34 Verunreinigt nicht das Land, in dem ihr euch niedergelassen habt und in dessen Mitte ich selbst wohne; denn ich, der Herr, wohne mitten unter den Israeliten.
