NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Matos Soares
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	1 O Senhor falou a Moisés, dizendo;
2 'Exact the ful vengeance for the Israelites on the Midianites. Afterwards you will be gathered to yourpeople.'	2 Vinga primeiro os filhos de Israel dos Madianitas, e depois serás unido ao teu povo.
3 Moses said to the people, 'Some of you are to take up arms for Yahweh's campaign against Midian,to carry out the vengeance of Yahweh on Midian.	3 Moisés disse logo: Armem-se para a batalha alguns homens de entre vós, que possam executar a vingança do Senhor sobre os Madianitas.
4 You will put a thousand men in the field from each of the tribes of Israel.'	4 Escolham-se mil homens de cada tribo de Israel, para serem mandados a esta guerra.
5 In this way Israel's thousands provided twelve thousand men equipped for war, one thousand fromeach tribe:	5 Eles deram mil homens por cada tribo, isto é, doze mil homens prontos a combater,
6 Moses put them in the field, one thousand from each tribe, with Phinehas, son of the priest Eleazar,to go with them carrying the sacred objects and the trumpets for the battle cry.	6 os quais Moisés enviou com Fineias, filho do sacerdote Eleázaro, que levou também os vasos santos e as trombetas para tocar.
7 They made war on Midian, as Yahweh had ordered Moses, and put every male to death.	7 Tendo pelejado contra os Madianitas e tendo-os vencido, mataram todos os varões,
8 What is more, they kil ed the kings of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba, the five Midianite kings;they also put Balaam son of Beor to the sword.	8 e os seus reis Evi, Recem, Sur, Hur e Rebe, cinco reis de Madian; mataram também com a espada a Balaão, filho de Beor.
9 The Israelites took the Midianite women and their little ones captive and carried off al their cattle, altheir flocks and al their goods as booty.	9 Tomaram as suas mulheres, os seus filhinhos, todos os seus gados, todos os seus bens.
10 They set fire to the towns where they lived and to al their encampments.	10 Incendiaram as cidades e as aldeias em que eles habitavam, assim como os seus acampamentos.
11 Then, taking al their booty, everything they had captured, human and animal,	11 E levaram a presa, tudo o que tinham tomado, tanto de homens como de animais,
12 they brought the captives, spoil and booty to Moses, the priest Eleazar and the whole community ofIsraelites at the camp on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan by Jericho.	12 e apresentaram-no a Moisés, ao sacerdote Eleázaro, e a toda a multidão dos filhos de Israel; tudo o mais que podia servir-lhes levaram-no aos acampamentos nas planícies de Moab, junto do Jordão defronte de Jericó.
13 Moses, the priest Eleazar and al the leaders of the community went out of the camp to meet them.	13 Saíram a recebê-los fora dos acampamentos Moisés e o sacerdote Eleázaro, e todos os príncipes da sinagoga.
14 Moses was enraged with the officers of the army, the commanders of the thousands andcommanders of the hundreds, who had come back from this military expedition.	14 Moisés, irado contra os chefes do exército, contra os tribunos e centuriões, que voltavam da batalha,
15 He said, 'Why have you spared the life of al the women?	15 disse: Por que poupastes as mulheres?
16 They were the very ones who, on Balaam's advice, caused the Israelites to be unfaithful to Yahwehin the affair at Peor: hence the plague which struck Yahweh's community.	16 Não são elas que, por sugestão de Balaão, seduziram os filhos de Israel, e vos fizeram prevaricar contra o Senhor com o pecado de Fogor, pelo qual também o povo foi castigado?
17 So kil al the male children and kil al the women who have ever slept with a man;	17 Matai, pois, todos os varões, mesmo os de tenra idade, e degolai as mulheres que tiveram comércio com homens;
18 but spare the lives of the young girls who have never slept with a man, and keep them foryourselves.	18 reservai para vós as donzelas e todas as mulheres virgens.
19 As for you, bivouac outside the camp for seven days, everyone who has kil ed anyone or touched acorpse. Purify yourselves and your prisoners on the third and seventh days,	19 Permanecei fora dos acampamentos sete dias. Quem tiver morto um homem, ou tocado um morto, purificar-se-á no dia terceiro e no sétimo.
20 and purify al clothing, everything made of skin, everything woven of goat's hair and everythingmade of wood.'	20 Purificar-se-á também da presa toda a veste ou vaso, e todo o objecto feito de pele de cabra, ou de pelos, ou de madeira.
21 The priest Eleazar said to the soldiers who had come back from the campaign, 'This is an article ofthe Law which Yahweh prescribed to Moses:	21 O sacerdote Eleázaro também falou assim aos soldados, que tinham pelejado: Este é o preceito da lei, que o Senhor deu a Moisés:
22 although gold, silver, bronze, iron, tin and lead,	22 O ouro, a prata, o cobre, o ferro, o chumbo, o estanho,
23 everything that can withstand fire can be cleaned by being passed through fire, it must stil bepurified with water for purification. Whatever cannot resist fire you must pass through water.	23 e tudo o que pode passar pelas chamas, será purificado no fogo; porém tudo o que não pode sofrer o fogo, será purificado com água da expiação;
24 'Wash your clothes on the seventh day and you wil then be clean. You may then re-enter the camp.'	24 lavareis as vossas vestes no sétimo dia, e, depois de purificados, entrareis nos acampamentos.
25 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	25 O Senhor disse a Moisés:
26 'With the priest Eleazar and the heads of families in the community, take a count of the spoils andcaptives, human and animal.	26 Fazei o inventário de tudo o que foi tomado, desde os homens até aos animais, tu e o sacerdote Eleázaro e os príncipes do povo.
27 You wil then share out the spoil, half and half, between those who fought the campaign and the restof the community.	27 Repartirás a presa em partes iguais entre os que pelejaram e saíram à batalha, e entre todo o resto da multidão.
28 From the share of the combatants who took part in the campaign, you wil set aside one out of everyfive hundred persons, oxen, donkeys and sheep as Yahweh's portion.	28 Daqueles que pelejaram e foram à guerra, separarás uma parte para o Senhor: de cada quinhentos uma cabeça, assim de homens como de bois, asnos e ovelhas,
29 You wil take this from the half share coming to them and give it to the priest Eleazar as the portionset aside for Yahweh.	29 e darás ao sacerdote Eleázaro, porque são as primícias do Senhor.
30 From the half coming to the Israelites, you will take one out of every fifty persons, oxen, donkeys,sheep, and al other animals, and give them to the Levites who are responsible for Yahweh's Dwel ing.'	30 Da outra metade (da presa), que pertence aos filhos de Israel, de cada cinquenta homens, ou bois, ou asnos, ou ovelhas, ou outros quaisquer animais, tomarás um, e darás aos Levitas, que têm a guarda do tabernáculo do Senhor.
31 Moses and the priest Eleazar did as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	31 Moisés e Eleázaro fizeram como o Senhor tinha mandado.
32 The spoils, the remainder of the booty captured by the soldiers, came to six hundred and seventy-five thousand sheep and goats,	32 Ora a presa que o exército tinha tomado foi de seiscentas e setenta e cinco mil ovelhas,
33 seventy-two thousand head of cattle,	33 setenta e dois mil bois,
34 sixty-one thousand donkeys,	34 sessenta e um mil asnos,
35 and in persons, women who had never slept with a man, thirty-two thousand in al .	35 trinta e duas mil pessoas do sexo feminino, que não tinham conhecido homem.
36 Half was assigned to those who had taken part in the war, namely three hundred and thirty-seventhousand five hundred sheep and goats,	36 Foi dada metade aos que tinham ido ao combate: trezentas e trinta e sete mil e quinhentas ovelhas,
37 of which Yahweh's portion was six hundred and seventy-five,	37 dás quais se puseram à parte para o Senhor seiscentas e setenta e cinco ovelhas.
38 thirty-six thousand head of cattle, of which Yahweh's portion was seventy-two,	38 Dos trinta e seis mil bois, (puseram-se à parte) setenta e dois;
39 thirty thousand five hundred donkeys, of which Yahweh's portion was sixty-one,	39 dos trinta mil e quinhentos asnos, sessenta e um.
40 and sixteen thousand persons, of which Yahweh's portion was thirty-two.	40 Das dezasseis mil pessoas, foram reservadas trinta e duas para o Senhor.
41 Moses gave the priest Eleazar the portion set aside for Yahweh, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	41 Moisés entregou ao sacerdote Eleázaro a conta das primícias do Senhor, como lhe tinha sido mandado,
42 As for the half coming to the Israelites which Moses had separated from that of the combatants,	42 (tomada) daquela metade que tinha sido separada para os filhos de Israel que tinham estado no combate.
43 this half, the community's share, came to three hundred and thirty-seven thousand five hundredsheep and goats,	43 Da outra metade, que tinha tocado ao resto da multidão, isto é, das trezentas e trinta e sete mil e quinhentas ovelhas,
44 thirty-six thousand head of cattle,	44 dos trinta e seis mil bois,
45 thirty thousand five hundred donkeys	45 dos trinta mil e quinhentos asnos,
46 and sixteen thousand persons.	46 das dezasseis mil pessoas,
47 From this half, the Israelites' share, Moses took one out of every fifty, human and animal, and gavethem to the Levites who were responsible for Yahweh's Dwel ing, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	47 Moisés tirou uma cabeça por cada cinquenta, e deu-as aos Levitas que velavam no tabernáculo do Senhor, como o Senhor tinha ordenado.
48 The officers of the thousands who had fought the campaign, the commanders of the thousands andcommanders of the hundreds, came to Moses	48 Os chefes do exército, os chefes dos milhares e os chefes das centenas, tendo-se aproximado de Moisés, disseram:
49 and said, 'Your servants have numbered the soldiers under their command: none of our men ismissing.	49 Nós, teus servos, fizemos a resenha dos combatentes, que comandávamos, e nem um faltou.
50 So, as an offering for Yahweh, we have brought what each of us has found in the way of goldornaments, armlets and bracelets, rings, earrings and breastplates, to make expiation for ourselves beforeYahweh.'	50 Por esta causa cada um de nós oferece por donativo ao Senhor o ouro que pudemos achar na presa, ligas, braceletes, anéis, arrecadas e colares, para que rogues por nós ao Senhor
51 Moses and the priest Eleazar accepted this gold from them, al this jewel ery.	51 Moisés e o sacerdote Eleázaro receberam todo o ouro em diversas espécies,
52 This portion of gold given to Yahweh by the commanders of the thousands and commanders of thehundreds amounted to sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.	52 com o peso de dezasseis mil e setecentos e cinquenta siclos, (oferecido) pelos chefes dos milhares e das centenas,
53 Each of the soldiers took his own booty.	53 porque o que cada um tinha tomado no saque, era seu.
54 But Moses and the priest Eleazar, having accepted the gold from the commanders of the thousandsand commanders of the hundreds, brought it into the Tent of Meeting, to be a reminder of the Israelites beforeYahweh.	54 E receberam-no e puseram-no no tabernáculo da reunião, como memória dos filhos de Israel diante do Senhor.
