NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 King Nebuchadnezzar had a golden statue made, sixty cubits high and six cubits wide, which he set upon the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.	1 - Il re Nabucodonosor fece una statua d'oro di sessanta cubiti d'altezza e sei di larghezza, e la collocò nel campo di Dura nella provincia di Babilonia.
2 King Nebuchadnezzar then summoned the satraps, magistrates, governors, counsel ors, treasurers,judges, lawyers, and al the provincial authorities to assemble and attend the dedication of the statue set up byKing Nebuchadnezzar.	2 Dopo, il re Nabucodonosor mandò a radunare i satrapi, i magistrati, i giudici, i duci, i governatori, i prefetti e tutti i capi delle regioni, affinchè intervenissero alla dedicazione della statua che il re Nabucodonosor aveva inalzato.
3 Satraps, magistrates, governors, counsel ors, treasurers, judges, lawyers and al the provincialauthorities then assembled for the dedication of the statue set up by King Nebuchadnezzar and stood in front ofthe statue which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.	3 Si videro allora radunati i satrapi, i magistrati, i giudici, i duci, i governatori, i nobili, le autorità e tutti i capi delle circoscrizioni intervenuti all'inaugurazione della statua che il re Nabucodonosor aveva inalzato; e avevano preso posto innanzi alla statua che il re Nabucodonosor aveva collocato.
4 A herald then loudly proclaimed: 'Peoples, nations, languages! Thus are you commanded:	4 Un banditore gridava a gola spiegata: «Siete avvisati, o popoli di ogni tribù e linguaggio!
5 the moment you hear the sound of horn, pipe, lyre, zither, harp, bagpipe and every other kind ofinstrument, you wil prostrate yourselves and worship the golden statue set up by King Nebuchadnezzar.	5 Nell'istante che udirete il suono della tromba, del flauto, dell'arpa, della cetra, del salterio, della zampogna e di tutti gli altri strumenti, prostrati adorate la statua d'oro che il re Nabucodonosor ha eretta.
6 Anyone who does not prostrate himself and worship wil immediately be thrown into the burning fieryfurnace.'	6 E se qualcuno non l'adorerà prostrandosi, sarà immantinente gettato in una fornace di fuoco ardente!».
7 And so, the instant al the peoples heard the sound of horn, pipe, lyre, zither, harp, bagpipe and al theother instruments, al the peoples, nations and languages prostrated themselves and worshipped the statue setup by King Nebuchadnezzar.	7 Dopo di ciò, appena quei popoli udirono il suono della tromba, del flauto, dell'arpa, della cetra, del salterio, della zampogna e di tutte le altre specie di strumenti, prostratisi tutti senza distinzione di tribù e linguaggio, adorarono la statua d'oro che il re Nabucodonosor aveva inalzato.
8 Some Chaldaeans then came forward and maliciously accused the Jews.	8 Ma ecco subito avanzarsi degli uomini Caldei che accusarono i Giudei,
9 They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, 'May Your Majesty live for ever!	9 e dissero al re Nabucodonosor: «O re, vivi in eterno!
10 You have issued a decree, Your Majesty, to the effect that everyone on hearing the sound of horn,pipe, lyre, zither, harp, bagpipe and every other kind of instrument is to prostrate himself and worship the goldenstatue;	10 Tu, o re, hai emanato il decreto, che tutti, appena udito il suono della tromba, del flauto, dell'arpa, della cetra, del salterio, della zampogna e di ogni sorta di strumenti musicali, si prostrino e adorino la statua d'oro;
11 and that anyone who does not prostrate himself and worship is to be thrown into the burning fieryfurnace.	11 che se alcuno non l'adorerà prostrandosi, sia gettato in una fornace di fuoco ardente.
12 Now, there are certain Jews to whom you have entrusted the affairs of the province of Babylon:Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego; these men have ignored your command, Your Majesty; they do not serveyour gods, and refuse to worship the golden statue you have set up.'	12 Vi sono quei Giudei che tu hai preposto agli affari della regione di Babilonia, Sidrac, Misac e Abdenago; cotesti uomini hanno disprezzato, o re, il tuo decreto; non onorano i tuoi dèi, e la statua d'oro che hai inalzato non vogliono adorare!».
13 Shaking with fury, Nebuchadnezzar sent for Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego. The men wereimmediately brought before the king.	13 Allora Nabucodonosor furente e pieno d'ira, ordinò che gli fossero condotti Sidrac, Misac e Abdenago: e furono subito condotti alla presenza del re.
14 Nebuchadnezzar addressed them, 'Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, is it true that you do notserve my gods, and that you refuse to worship the golden statue I have set up?	14 E il re Nabucodonosor parlò e disse loro: «È vero che voi, Sidrac, Misac e Abdenago non volete onorare i miei dèi, nè adorare la statua d'oro che ho fatto rizzare?
15 When you hear the sound of horn, pipe, lyre, zither, harp, bagpipe and every other kind of instrument,are you prepared to prostrate yourselves and worship the statue I have made? If you refuse to worship it, youwil be thrown forthwith into the burning fiery furnace; then which of the gods could save you from my power?'	15 Or dunque, se siete disposti, appena che avrete udito il suono della tromba, del flauto, dell'arpa, della cetra, del salterio, della zampogna e di tutte le altre specie di strumenti, prostratevi e adorate la statua che ho fabbricata; che se non l'adorerete, sarete all'istante gettati in una fornace di fuoco ardente; e qual sarà quel dio che vi potrà togliere dalle mie mani?».
16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego replied to King Nebuchadnezzar, 'Your question needs noanswer from us:	16 Sidrac, Misac, e Abdenago per risposta dissero al re Nabucodonosor: «Noi non abbiamo bisogno su questo di darti risposta;
17 if our God, the one we serve, is able to save us from the burning fiery furnace and from your power,Your Majesty, he wil save us;	17 perchè ecco, il nostro Dio che adoriamo, egli può strapparci alla fornace di fuoco ardente e liberarci dalle tue mani, o re.
18 and even if he does not, then you must know, Your Majesty, that we wil not serve your god or worshipthe statue you have set up.'	18 Ma se anche non lo volesse fare, sappi, o re, che i tuoi dèi noi non veneriamo, e non adoreremo la tua statua d'oro che hai eretta!».
19 This infuriated King Nebuchadnezzar; his expression was changed now as he looked at Shadrach,Meshach and Abed-Nego. He gave orders for the furnace to be made seven times hotter than usual	19 Allora Nabucodonosor fu al colmo dell'ira e cangiò faccia verso Sidrac, Misac e Abdenago, e ordinò che si arroventasse la fornace sette volte più dell'usato.
20 and commanded certain stalwarts from his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego andthrow them into the burning fiery furnace.	20 Poi comandò ai più forti uomini del suo esercito che, legati i piedi a Sidrac, Misac e Abdenago, li gettassero nella fornace di fuoco ardente.
21 They were then bound in their cloaks, trousers, headgear and other garments, and thrown into theburning fiery furnace.	21 Immantinente, legati quegli uomini, coi loro calzoni, colle tiare, coi calzari e le vesti, furono gettati in mezzo alla fornace di fuoco ardente;
22 The king's command was so urgent and the heat of the furnace was so fierce, that the men carryingShadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego were burnt to death by the flames from the fire;	22 perchè l'ordine del re non ammetteva indugi. La fornace era estremamente arroventata; ma la fiamma incenerì gli uomini che avevano gettato dentro Sidrac, Misac e Abdenago
23 the three men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego fel , bound, into the burning fiery furnace.	23 mentre i tre, Sidrac, Misac e Abdenago caddero legati in mezzo alla fornace di fuoco ardente.
24 And they walked in the heart of the flames, praising God and blessing the Lord.	24 E camminavano in mezzo alle fiamme, lodando Dio e benedicendo il Signore.

27 For you are upright in al that you have done for us, al your deeds are true, all your ways right, al yourjudgements true.	27 Perchè tu sei giusto in tutto quello che hai fatto a noi; tutte le tue opere sono veraci, rette le tue vie, e tutti i tuoi giudizi veri.
28 True is the sentence you have given in al that you have brought down on us and on Jerusalem, theholy city of our ancestors, for you have treated us rightly and truly, as our sins deserve.	28 Il giudizio che hai fatto è vero in tutto quello che hai fatto venire sopra di noi e sopra Gerusalemme la santa città dei padri nostri; perchè rettamente e giustamente hai fatto venire tutto questo per i nostri peccati.
29 Yes, we have sinned and committed a crime by deserting you, yes, we have greatly sinned; we havenot listened to your commandments,	29 Abbiamo peccato, abbiamo iniquamente operato ritirandoci da te, e abbiamo commesso mancamenti di ogni sorta.
30 we have not observed them, we have not done what you commanded us to do for our own good.	30 Non abbiamo dato retta ai tuoi precetti, e non li abbiamo osservati e non abbiamo operato come ci avevi ordinato di operare, affinchè avessimo bene.
31 Yes, al that you have brought down on us, al that you have done to us, you have been ful y justifiedin doing.	31 Tutto dunque ciò che hai mandato sopra di noi, con tutto il resto che ci hai fatto, è stato operato con vera giustizia.
32 You have handed us over to our enemies, to a lawless people, the worst of the godless, to an unjustking, the worst in the whole world;	32 Ci hai consegnati in mano dei nostri iniqui avversari, pessimi e prevaricatori; di un re ingiusto che peggiore non c'è su tutta la terra.
33 today we have no right to open our mouths, shame and dishonour are the lot of those who serve andworship you.	33 E ora non ardiamo aprir bocca, diventati la vergogna e l'obbrobrio de' tuoi servi e di coloro che ti adorano.
34 Do not abandon us for ever, for the sake of your name; do not repudiate your covenant,	34 Non darci, per pietà, in balìa altrui in perpetuo, per l'amor del tuo nome, e non rompere la tua alleanza!
35 do not withdraw your favour from us, for the sake of Abraham, your friend, of Isaac, your servant, andof Israel, your holy one,	35 Non ritirare da noi la tua misericordia, per amore di Abramo tuo prediletto, d'Isacco tuo servo e di Israele tuo santo;
36 to whom you promised to make their descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as the grainsof sand on the seashore.	36 ai quali hai parlato e promesso di moltiplicare il loro seme come le stelle del cielo e come le arene che sono sul lido del mare.
37 Lord, we have become the least of al nations, we are put to shame today throughout the world,because of our sins.	37 Perchè, o Signore, siamo sminuiti più che tutte le genti; siamo nell'umiliazione per tutta la terra a causa dei nostri peccati.
38 We now have no leader, no prophet, no prince, no burnt offering, no sacrifice, no oblation, no incense,no place where we can make offerings to you	38 In questo tempo non c'è più principe, nè duce, nè profeta, nè olocausto, nè sacrificio, nè offerta, nè incenso; non luogo ove presentare le primizie al tuo cospetto,
39 and win your favour. But may the contrite soul, the humbled spirit, be as acceptable to you	39 onde possiamo ottenere la tua misericordia. Deh! ci faccia bene accetti l'animo contrito e lo spirito di umiliazione in cui siamo!
40 as burnt offerings of rams and bullocks, as thousands of fat lambs: such let our sacrifice be to youtoday, and may it please you that we fol ow you whole-heartedly, since those who trust in you wil not beshamed.	40 Come è di un olocausto di arieti e di tori, come di agnelli pingui a migliaia, così sia del nostro sacrificio nel tuo cospetto oggi e riesca a piacerti; perchè non c'è confusione per quelli che confidano in te.
41 And now we put our whole heart into fol owing you, into fearing you and seeking your face once more.	41 Ed ora siamo tuoi seguaci di tutto cuore, ti temiamo e ricerchiamo la tua faccia.
42 Do not abandon us to shame but treat us in accordance with your gentleness, in accordance with thegreatness of your mercy.	42 Non ci confondere, ma opera con noi secondo la tua benignità e secondo la grandezza della tua misericordia!
43 Rescue us in accordance with your wonderful deeds and win fresh glory for your name, O Lord.	43 Vieni a liberarci miracolosamente e glorifica il tuo nome, o Signore!
44 Confusion seize al who il -treat your servants: may they be covered with shame, deprived of al theirpower, and may their strength be broken.	44 Siano confusi tutti quelli che maltrattano i tuoi servi, siano confusi dalla tua onnipotenza e il loro potere sia infranto.
45 Let them learn that you alone are God and Lord, glorious over the whole world.	45 E sappiano che tu sei il solo Signore Dio, glorioso sopra tutta la terra».
46 Al this time, the king's servants, who had thrown them into the furnace, had been stoking it with crudeoil, pitch, tow and brushwood	46 Intanto i ministri del re che ve li avevano gettati, non cessavano di avvampare la fornace con bitume, stoppa, pece e sarmenti;
47 until the flames rose forty-nine cubits above the furnace	47 ma la fiamma, che scorreva quarantanove cubiti al disopra della fornace,
48 and, leaping out, burnt those Chaldaeans to death who were standing round it.	48 si avventò e incenerì quanti ne raggiunse dei Caldei che erano accanto alla fornace.
49 But the angel of the Lord came down into the furnace beside Azariah and his companions; he drovethe flames of the fire outwards from the furnace	49 E l'angelo del Signore discese assieme ad Azaria e ai suoi compagni nella fornace e rimosse la vampa del fuoco dalla fornace,
50 and, in the heart of the furnace, wafted a coolness to them as of the breeze and dew, so that the firedid not touch them at al and caused them no pain or distress.	50 e fece spirare nel mezzo della fornace come un vento fresco; e il fuoco non li toccò affatto e non nocque, nè diede loro la minima molestia.
51 Then al three in unison began to sing, glorifying and blessing God in the furnace, with the words:	51 Allora questi tre ad una voce lodavano e glorificavano e benedicevano nella fornace Dio dicendo:
52 May you be blessed, Lord, God of our ancestors, be praised and extol ed for ever. Blessed be yourglorious and holy name, praised and extol ed for ever.	52 «Benedetto sei tu, Signore Dio dei padri nostri, e laudabile e glorioso e sopresaltato per i secoli, e benedetto è il santo nome della tua gloriae laudabile e sopresaltato per tutti i secoli!
53 May you be blessed in the Temple of your sacred glory, exalted and glorified above all for ever:	53 Benedetto sei tu nel tempio santo della tua gloriae sopra ogni lode e sopra ogni gloria pei secoli.
54 blessed on the throne of your kingdom, exalted above al , glorified for ever:	54 Benedetto sei tu nel trono del tuo regnoe sopra ogni lode e sopresaltato nei secoli.
55 blessed are you who fathom the abyss, enthroned on the winged creatures, praised and exaltedabove al for ever:	55 Benedetto sei tu che penetri gli abissi che siedi sui cherubinie laudabile e sopresaltato nei secoli.
56 blessed in the expanse of the heavens, exalted and glorified for ever.	56 Benedetto sei tu nella volta del cieloe laudabile e glorioso pei secoli.
57 Bless the Lord, al the Lord's creation: praise and glorify him for ever!	57 Benedite il Signore, opere tutte del Signore, lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli!

67 Bless the Lord, cold and warmth, praise and glorify him for ever!	67 Benedite il Signore, freddo e caldo; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
68 Bless the Lord, dew and snow-storm, praise and glorify him for ever!	68 Benedite il Signore, rugiade e brine; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
69 Bless the Lord, frost and cold, praise and glorify him for ever!	69 Benedite il Signore, gelo e freddo; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
70 Bless the Lord, ice and snow, praise and glorify him for ever!	70 Benedite il Signore, ghiacci e nevi; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
71 Bless the Lord, nights and days, praise and glorify him for ever!	71 Benedite il Signore, notti e giorni; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
72 Bless the Lord, light and darkness, praise and glorify him for ever!	72 Benedite il Signore, luce e tenebre; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
73 Bless the Lord, lightning and cloud, praise and glorify him for ever!	73 Benedite il Signore, folgori e nubi; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.

77 Bless the Lord, springs of water, praise and glorify him for ever!	77 Benedite il Signore, o fontane; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
78 Bless the Lord, seas and rivers, praise and glorify him for ever!	78 Benedite il Signore, mari e fiumi; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
79 Bless the Lord, whales, and everything that moves in the waters, praise and glorify him for ever!	79 Benedite il Signore, o pesci con tutto quel che si muove nelle acque; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
80 Bless the Lord, every kind of bird, praise and glorify him for ever!	80 Benedite il Signore, uccelli del cielo; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
81 Bless the Lord, al animals wild and tame, praise and glorify him for ever!	81 Benedite il Signore, fiere e armenti; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
82 Bless the Lord, al the human race: praise and glorify him for ever!	82 Benedite il Signore, o figli degli uomini; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
83 Bless the Lord, O Israel, praise and glorify him for ever!	83 Benedica il Signore Israele; lo lodi e lo sopresalti pei secoli.
84 Bless the Lord, priests, praise and glorify him for ever!	84 Benedite il Signore, o Sacerdoti del Signore; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
85 Bless the Lord, his servants, praise and glorify him for ever!	85 Benedite il Signore, servi del Signore; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
86 Bless the Lord, spirits and souls of the upright, praise and glorify him for ever!	86 Benedite il Signore, spiriti e anime dei giusti; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
87 Bless the Lord, faithful, humble-hearted people, praise and glorify him for ever!	87 Benedite il Signore, genti pie e umili di cuore; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli.
88 Hananiah, Azariah and Mishael, bless the Lord, praise and glorify him for ever!-For he has rescued usfrom the Underworld, he has saved us from the hand of Death, he has snatched us from the burning fieryfurnace, he has drawn us from the heart of the flame!	88 Benedite il Signore, Anania, Azaria, Misaele; lodatelo e sopresaltatelo pei secoli. Perchè ci ha scampati dalla tomba, ci ha salvati dalle mani della morte, e ci ha liberati dalla fiamma ardente cavandoci di mezzo al fuoco.
89 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his love is everlasting.	89 Glorificate il Signore perchè è buono, perchè la sua misericordia dura sempre.
90 Bless the Lord, the God of gods, al who fear him, give praise and thanks to him, for his love iseverlasting!	90 Benedite il Signore, Dio degli dèi voi tutti che l'onorate; lodatelo e glorificatelo; perchè la sua misericordia dura per tutti i secoli!».
91 King Nebuchadnezzar sprang to his feet in amazement. He said to his advisers, 'Did we not havethese three men thrown bound into the fire?' They answered the king, 'Certainly, Your Majesty'.	91 Allora il re Nabucodonosor rimase attonito, e subitamente alzatosi disse ai nobili della sua corte: «Non sono tre gli uomini che abbiamo fatto gettare legati in mezzo al fuoco?». Questi risposero al re e dissero: «È vero, o re».
92 'But', he went on, 'I can see four men walking free in the heart of the fire and quite unharmed! And thefourth looks like a child of the gods!'	92 Soggiunse il re e disse: «Ecco che io scorgo quattro uomini slegati che si muovono in mezzo alle fiamme, e nulla hanno ritratto dall'ingiuria del fuoco e il quarto rassomiglia nell'aspetto a un figlio di Dio».
93 Nebuchadnezzar approached the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and said, 'Shadrach, Meshachand Abed-Nego, servants of God Most High, come out, come here!' And from the heart of the fire out cameShadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego.	93 Ciò detto Nabucodonosor s'accostò alla bocca della fornace rovente di fuoco ed esclamò: «Sidrac, Misac e Abdenago, servi del Dio altissimo, uscite e venite fuori!». E tosto Sidrac, Misac e Abdenago uscirono di mezzo al fuoco.
94 The satraps, magistrates, governors, and advisers of the king crowded round the three men toexamine them: the fire had had no effect on their bodies: not a hair of their heads had been singed, their cloakswere not scorched, no smell of burning hung about them. Nebuchadnezzar said,	94 E affollatisi attorno i satrapi, i magistrati, i giudici e i grandi della corte del re, contemplavano questi uomini, perchè sui corpi loro il fuoco non aveva avuto alcun potere e nemmanco un capello della loro testa era stato strinato, nè le loro tuniche avevano cangiato colore, nè odor di bruciato era passato sulle loro persone.
95 'Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego: he has sent his angel to rescue hisservants who, putting their trust in him, defied the order of the king, and preferred to forfeit their bodies ratherthan serve or worship any god but their God.	95 E Nabucodonosor proruppe dicendo: «Benedetto il loro Dio, il Dio di Sidrac, Misac e Abdenago che inviò il suo angelo e scampò i suoi servi che avevano creduto in lui; che si scostarono dalla parola del re e sacrificarono i loro corpi pur di non servire nè prestar adorazione ad alcun altro dio eccettuato il Dio loro!
96 I therefore decree as fol ows, "Peoples, nations, and languages! Let any of you speak disrespectful yof the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, and I shal have him torn limb from limb and his house turnedinto a dunghil ; for there is no other god who can save like this."
