1 King Nebuchadnezzar had a golden statue made, sixty cubits high and six cubits wide, which he set upon the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.	1 Il re Nabuchodonosor fece una statua d'oro alta sessanta cubiti, larga sei cubiti, e la fece alzare nella campagna di Dura della provincia di Babilonia.
2 King Nebuchadnezzar then summoned the satraps, magistrates, governors, counsel ors, treasurers,judges, lawyers, and al the provincial authorities to assemble and attend the dedication of the statue set up byKing Nebuchadnezzar.	2 Il re Nabuchodonosor mandò a radunare i satrapi, e i magistrati, e i giudici, e i capitani, e i dinasti, e i prefetti, e tutti i governatori delle provincie, affinchè tutti insieme andassero alla dedicazione della statua alzata dal re Nabuchodonosor.
3 Satraps, magistrates, governors, counsel ors, treasurers, judges, lawyers and al the provincialauthorities then assembled for the dedication of the statue set up by King Nebuchadnezzar and stood in front ofthe statue which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.	3 Allora si ratinarono i satrapi, i magistrati, e i giudici, i capitani, e i dinasti, e i grandi, che eran costituiti in dignità, e tutti i governatori delle provincie, per andare tutti insieme alla dedicazione della statua eretta dal re Nabuchodonosor: e stavano in faccia alla statua alzata dal re Nabuchodonosor,
4 A herald then loudly proclaimed: 'Peoples, nations, languages! Thus are you commanded:	4 E il banditore gridava ad alta voce: Si ordina a voi, popoli, tribù, e lingue,
5 the moment you hear the sound of horn, pipe, lyre, zither, harp, bagpipe and every other kind ofinstrument, you wil prostrate yourselves and worship the golden statue set up by King Nebuchadnezzar.	5 Che nel punto stesso, in cui udirete il suono della tromba, del flauto, della cetra, della sampogna, del saltero, del timpano, e degli strumenti musicali di ogni genere, prostrati adoriate la statua d'oro eretta dal re Nabuchodonosor;
6 Anyone who does not prostrate himself and worship wil immediately be thrown into the burning fieryfurnace.'	6 Che se alcuno non si prostra, e adora, nello stesso punto sarà gettato in una fornace di fuoco ardente.

8 Some Chaldaeans then came forward and maliciously accused the Jews.	8 E subito nel punto istesso alcuni uomini Caldei andarono ad accusar i Giudei:
9 They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, 'May Your Majesty live for ever!	9 E dissero al re Nabuchodonosor: Vivi, o re, in eterno:
10 You have issued a decree, Your Majesty, to the effect that everyone on hearing the sound of horn,pipe, lyre, zither, harp, bagpipe and every other kind of instrument is to prostrate himself and worship the goldenstatue;	10 Tu, o re, formasti decreto, che qualunque uomo, che avesse udito il suono della tromba, e del flauto, e della cetra, della sampogna, e del saltero, e del timpano, e de' musicali strumenti di ogni sorta, si prostrasse, e adorasse la statua d'oro;
11 and that anyone who does not prostrate himself and worship is to be thrown into the burning fieryfurnace.	11 Che se alcuno non si prostrasse, e adorasse, fosse gettato in una fornace di fuoco ardente.
12 Now, there are certain Jews to whom you have entrusted the affairs of the province of Babylon:Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego; these men have ignored your command, Your Majesty; they do not serveyour gods, and refuse to worship the golden statue you have set up.'	12 Vi sono adunque tre uomini Giudei, i quali tu deputasti sopra gli affari della provincia di Babilonia, Sidrach, Misach, e Abdenago: questi uomini, o re, han dispregiato il tuo decreto, non rendon culto a' tuoi dei, e non adorano la statua d'oro alzata da te.
13 Shaking with fury, Nebuchadnezzar sent for Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego. The men wereimmediately brought before the king.	13 Allora Nabuchodonosor pien di furore, e d'ira, ordinò, che gli conducessero Sidrach, Misach, e Abdenago: i quali tosto furon menati al cospetto dei re.
14 Nebuchadnezzar addressed them, 'Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, is it true that you do notserve my gods, and that you refuse to worship the golden statue I have set up?	14 E Nabuchodonosor re parlò, e disse loro: E' egli vero, o Sidrach, Misach, e Abdenago, che voi non rendete culto a' miei dei, e non adorate la statua d'oro eretta da me?
15 When you hear the sound of horn, pipe, lyre, zither, harp, bagpipe and every other kind of instrument,are you prepared to prostrate yourselves and worship the statue I have made? If you refuse to worship it, youwil be thrown forthwith into the burning fiery furnace; then which of the gods could save you from my power?'	15 Or adunque, se voi siete a ciò disposti, in quel punto, in cui udirete i suon della tromba del flauto, della cetra, della sampogna, e del saltero, e del timpano, e de' musicali strumenti di ogni genere, prostratevi, e adorate la statua, che io ho fatta: che se non la adorerete, nello stesso punto sarete gettati in una fornace di fuoco ardente; e qual è il Dio, che vi sottrarrà al mio potere?
16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego replied to King Nebuchadnezzar, 'Your question needs noanswer from us:	16 Risposero Sidrach, Misach, e Abdenago, e dissero al re Nabuchodonosor: Non è necessario, che sopra di ciò noi ti diamo risposta:
17 if our God, the one we serve, is able to save us from the burning fiery furnace and from your power,Your Majesty, he wil save us;	17 Imperocché certamente il nostro Dio, che noi adoriamo, può liberarci dalla fornace di fuoco ardente, e sottrarci al poter tuo, o re.
18 and even if he does not, then you must know, Your Majesty, that we wil not serve your god or worshipthe statue you have set up.'	18 Che s'ei non vorrà, sappi tu, o re, che noi non rendiam culto a' tuoi dei, e non adoriamo la statua d'oro eretta da te.
19 This infuriated King Nebuchadnezzar; his expression was changed now as he looked at Shadrach,Meshach and Abed-Nego. He gave orders for the furnace to be made seven times hotter than usual	19 Allora Nabuchodonosor entrò in furore, e la sua faccia si cangiò di colore verso Sidrach, Misach, e Abdenago, e comandò, che si facesse fuoco alla fornace sette volte più di quel, che solea farsi.
20 and commanded certain stalwarts from his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego andthrow them into the burning fiery furnace.	20 E ad uomini fortissimi del suo esercito diede ordine, che, legati i piedi a Sidrach, Misach, e Abdenago, li gettassero nella fornace di fuoco ardente.
21 They were then bound in their cloaks, trousers, headgear and other garments, and thrown into theburning fiery furnace.	21 E tosto questi tre uomini legati pe' piedi, avendo le loro brache, e le tiare, e i borzacchini, e le loro vesti, furon gettati in mezzo alla fornace di fuoco ardente;
22 The king's command was so urgent and the heat of the furnace was so fierce, that the men carryingShadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego were burnt to death by the flames from the fire;	22 Imperocché il comandamento del re era pressante: e la fornace era stra ordinariamente accesa. Or la fiamma repente uccise coloro, che vi avean gettato Sidrach, Misach, e Abdenago.
23 the three men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego fel , bound, into the burning fiery furnace.	23 Ma questi tre, cioè Sidrach, Misach, e Abdenago cadder nel mezzo della fornace ardente legati. Quello, che segue, nol troverai nel testo Ebraico.
24 And they walked in the heart of the flames, praising God and blessing the Lord.	24 E camminavano per mezzo alle fiamme laudando Dio, e benedicendo il Signore.
25 Azariah stood in the heart of the fire, praying aloud thus:	25 E Azaria stando in piedi orò in questo modo, e aprendo la sua bocca in mezzo al fuoco, disse:

27 For you are upright in al that you have done for us, al your deeds are true, all your ways right, al yourjudgements true.	27 Perocché giusto se' tu in tutto quello, che hai fatto a noi, e tutte le opere tue sono veraci, e rette le vie tue, e tutti i giudizj tuoi sono giusti.
28 True is the sentence you have given in al that you have brought down on us and on Jerusalem, theholy city of our ancestors, for you have treated us rightly and truly, as our sins deserve.	28 Imperocché giusto fu il giudizio tuo, secondo il quale tutte queste cose cader facesti sopra di noi, e sopra la città santa de' padri nostri, Gerusalemme: perocché con verità, e con giustizia tutte queste cose venir facesti pe' peccati nostri.
29 Yes, we have sinned and committed a crime by deserting you, yes, we have greatly sinned; we havenot listened to your commandments,	29 Imperocché noi peccammo, e cosa iniqua facemmo, allontanandoci da te, e in ogni cosa mancammo;
30 we have not observed them, we have not done what you commanded us to do for our own good.	30 E non porgemmo le orecchie a' tuoi precetti, nè gli osservammo, nè facemmo secondo quelli, che tu ci avevi ordinato, perché noi fossim felici:
31 Yes, al that you have brought down on us, al that you have done to us, you have been ful y justifiedin doing.	31 Tutto quello adunque, che hai mandato sopra di noi, e tutte quante le cose, che hai fatte a noi, con vero giudizio tu le hai fatte;
32 You have handed us over to our enemies, to a lawless people, the worst of the godless, to an unjustking, the worst in the whole world;	32 E ci hai dati in balìa de' nostri nemici ingiusti, e pessimi, e prevaricatori, e di un re ingiusto, e il peggiore, che sia su tutta la terra.
33 today we have no right to open our mouths, shame and dishonour are the lot of those who serve andworship you.	33 Ed ora noi non possiamo aprir bocca: siam divenuti argomento di confusione, e di obbrobrio pe' servi tuoi, e per quei, che ti adorano.
34 Do not abandon us for ever, for the sake of your name; do not repudiate your covenant,	34 Non abbandonarci, di grazia, in perpetuo per amor del tuo nome, e non dissipare il tuo testamento:
35 do not withdraw your favour from us, for the sake of Abraham, your friend, of Isaac, your servant, andof Israel, your holy one,	35 E non ritrarre da noi la tua misericordia per amore di Abramo diletto tuo, e di Isacco tuo servo, e di Israele tuo santo,
36 to whom you promised to make their descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as the grainsof sand on the seashore.	36 A' quali parlasti, facendo loro promessa di moltiplicare la loro stirpe, come le stelle del cielo, e come l'arena, che è sul lido del mare.
37 Lord, we have become the least of al nations, we are put to shame today throughout the world,because of our sins.	37 Perocché noi, o Signore, siam divenuti più piccoli di qualunque altra nazione, e adesso siamo umiliati per tutta la terra pe' nostri falli.
38 We now have no leader, no prophet, no prince, no burnt offering, no sacrifice, no oblation, no incense,no place where we can make offerings to you	38 E non è in questo tempo nè principe, nè condottiere, nè profeta, nè olocausto, nè sagrifizio, nè obblazione, nè incenso, nè luogo, ove presentare a te le primizie,
39 and win your favour. But may the contrite soul, the humbled spirit, be as acceptable to you	39 Affin di poter trovare misericordia presso di te: ma ci ricevi tu contriti di anima, e umiliati di spirito,
40 as burnt offerings of rams and bullocks, as thousands of fat lambs: such let our sacrifice be to youtoday, and may it please you that we fol ow you whole-heartedly, since those who trust in you wil not beshamed.	40 Come in virtù dell'olocausto degli arieti, e de' tori, e come pel sagrifizio di migliaia di grassi agnelli. In tal guisa il sagrifizio nostro si adempia oggi nel tuo cospetto, che a te piaccia, da poiché confusi non restano quei, che confidano in te.
41 And now we put our whole heart into fol owing you, into fearing you and seeking your face once more.	41 E ora con tutto il cuore te seguitiamo, e temiam te, e ccechiam la tua faccia;
42 Do not abandon us to shame but treat us in accordance with your gentleness, in accordance with thegreatness of your mercy.	42 Non volerci confondere: ma fa con noi secondo la tua mansuetudine, e secondo la molta tua misericordia.
43 Rescue us in accordance with your wonderful deeds and win fresh glory for your name, O Lord.	43 E facci salvi co' tuoi prodigj, a glorifica il nome tuo, o Signore,
44 Confusion seize al who il -treat your servants: may they be covered with shame, deprived of al theirpower, and may their strength be broken.	44 E siano confusi tutti coloro, che sciagure minacciano a' servi tuoi; sian confusi da tutta la tua possanza, e sia annichilata la loro fortezza;
45 Let them learn that you alone are God and Lord, glorious over the whole world.	45 E conoscano, che tu se' il Signore Dio solo, e glorioso sopra la terra.
46 Al this time, the king's servants, who had thrown them into the furnace, had been stoking it with crudeoil, pitch, tow and brushwood	46 E i ministri del re, che ve gli avean gettati, non filmavano di accrescer fuoco alla fornace con bitume, stoppa, pece, e sarmenti,
47 until the flames rose forty-nine cubits above the furnace	47 E la fiamma si alzava sopra la fornace quarantanove cubiti;
48 and, leaping out, burnt those Chaldaeans to death who were standing round it.	48 E si dilatò, e ahbrugiò que' Caldei, che trovò vicini alla fornace.
49 But the angel of the Lord came down into the furnace beside Azariah and his companions; he drovethe flames of the fire outwards from the furnace	49 E l'Angelo del Signore era sceso con Azaria, e co' suoi compagni nella fornace, e allontanava da essi la fiamma del fuoco nella fornace,
50 and, in the heart of the furnace, wafted a coolness to them as of the breeze and dew, so that the firedid not touch them at al and caused them no pain or distress.	50 E fece si, che nel mezzo della fornace soffiasse come un umido vento; e il fuoco non toccogli in verun modo, ne gli afflisse, nè diede loro molestia alcuna.
51 Then al three in unison began to sing, glorifying and blessing God in the furnace, with the words:	51 Allora questi tre quasi con una sol bocca laudavano, e glorificavano, e benedicevano Dio nella fornace dicendo:
52 May you be blessed, Lord, God of our ancestors, be praised and extol ed for ever. Blessed be yourglorious and holy name, praised and extol ed for ever.	52 Benedetto se' tu. Signore Dio de' padri nostri, e laudabile, e glorioso, ed elevato sopra tutte le cose pe' secoli: ed è benedetto il nome della tua gloria santo, e laudabile, ed esaltato sopra tutte le cose per tutti i secoli.
53 May you be blessed in the Temple of your sacred glory, exalted and glorified above all for ever:	53 Benedetto se' tu nel tempio santo della tua gloria, e sopra ogni lode, e sopra ogni altezza pe' secoli.
54 blessed on the throne of your kingdom, exalted above al , glorified for ever:	54 Benedetto se' tu nel trono del tuo regno, e sopra ogni lode, e sopra ogni altezza pe' secoli.
55 blessed are you who fathom the abyss, enthroned on the winged creatures, praised and exaltedabove al for ever:	55 Benedetto se' tu, che penetri col tuo sguardo gli abissi, e siedi sopra de' Cherubini, e se' laudabile, ed altissimo pe' secoli.
56 blessed in the expanse of the heavens, exalted and glorified for ever.	56 Benedetto se' tu nel firmamento del ciclo, e laudabile, e glorioso pe' secoli.

89 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his love is everlasting.	89 Rendete grazie al Signore, perché egli è buono, perché la misericordia di lui o eterna.
90 Bless the Lord, the God of gods, al who fear him, give praise and thanks to him, for his love iseverlasting!	90 Voi tutti, che onorate il Signore, benedite il Dio degli dei. laudatelo, e rendetegli grazie, perocché la misericordia di lui dura per tutti i secoli. 91 King Nebuchadnezzar sprang to his feet in amazement. He said to his advisers, 'Did we not havethese three men thrown bound into the fire?' They answered the king, 'Certainly, Your Majesty'.	91 Allora il re Nabuchodonosor rimase stordito, ed alzossi in fretta, e disse a' suoi cortigiani: Non abbiam noi fatto gettare legati in mezzo al fuoco que' tre uomini? I quali risposero, e dissero: Così è, o re.
92 'But', he went on, 'I can see four men walking free in the heart of the fire and quite unharmed! And thefourth looks like a child of the gods!'	92 Ed egli rispose, e disse: Ecco, che io veggo quattro uomini sciolti, che camminano pel mezzo al fuoco, e nulla hanno patito, e il quarto è a vederlo simile al figliuolo di Dio.
93 Nebuchadnezzar approached the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and said, 'Shadrach, Meshachand Abed-Nego, servants of God Most High, come out, come here!' And from the heart of the fire out cameShadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego.	93 Allora Nabuchodonosor si accostò alla porta della fornace ardente, e disse: Sidrach, Misach, e Abdenago servi dell'altissimo Dio, uscite fuori, e venite. E tosto usciron di mezzo al fuoco Sidrach, Misach, e Abdenago.
94 The satraps, magistrates, governors, and advisers of the king crowded round the three men toexamine them: the fire had had no effect on their bodies: not a hair of their heads had been singed, their cloakswere not scorched, no smell of burning hung about them. Nebuchadnezzar said,	94 E affollatisi i satrapi, e i magistrati, e i giudici, e i cortigiani del re, stavano a contemplar questi uomini, perchè ne' corpi loro nissun potere aveva avuto il fuoco, e nissun capello della lor testa era arso, e i loro borzacchini non eran cangiati, né odore di fuoco gli avea tocchi.
95 'Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego: he has sent his angel to rescue hisservants who, putting their trust in him, defied the order of the king, and preferred to forfeit their bodies ratherthan serve or worship any god but their God.	95 E Nabuchodonosor proruppe in queste parole: Benedetto il loro Dio, il Dio di Sidrach, di Misach, e di Abdenago, il quale ha spedito il suo Angelo, e ha liberati i servi suoi, che hanno creduto in lui, e non hanno ubbidito all'ordine del re, ed hanno sacrificati i corpi loro per non voler render culto, né adorare dio alcuno fuori del Dio loro.
96 I therefore decree as fol ows, "Peoples, nations, and languages! Let any of you speak disrespectful yof the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, and I shal have him torn limb from limb and his house turnedinto a dunghil ; for there is no other god who can save like this." '	96 Questo adunque è il decreto, che io ho fatto, che qualunque popolo, tribù, o lingua, che proferirà bestemmia contro il Dio di Sidrach, di Misach, e di Abdenago, perisca, e sian devastate le case loro: imperocché altro dio non è, che possa salvare in tal guisa.
97 The king then showered favours on Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego in the province of Babylon.	97 Allora il re innalzò Sidrach, Misach, e Abdenago al governo della provincia di Babilonia.
98 'King Nebuchadnezzar, to all peoples, nations and languages dwelling throughout the world: may youprosper more and more!	98 Il re Nabuchodonosor, a tutti i popoli, nazioni, e lingue, che abitano in tutta quanta la terra: Sia sempre più perfetta pace a voi.
99 'It is my pleasure to make known the signs and wonders with which the Most High God has favouredme.	99 Segni, e prodigi ha fatti presso di me l'altissimo Iddio: a me adunque è paruto di manifestarli.
100 How great his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, his empireendures age after age!'	100 I segni, perchè sono grandi, e i prodigi, perchè sono stupendi: e il regno di lui è un regno sempiterno, e la possanza di lui per tutti i secoli.
