NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 King Nebuchadnezzar had a golden statue made, sixty cubits high and six cubits wide, which he set upon the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.	1 Le roi Nabuchodonosor fit une statue d'or, haute de 60 coudées et large de six, qu'il dressa dans laplaine de Dura, dans la province de Babylone.
2 King Nebuchadnezzar then summoned the satraps, magistrates, governors, counsel ors, treasurers,judges, lawyers, and al the provincial authorities to assemble and attend the dedication of the statue set up byKing Nebuchadnezzar.	2 Le roi Nabuchodonosor manda aux satrapes, magistrats, gouverneurs, conseillers, trésoriers, juges etjuristes, et à toutes les autorités de la province, de s'assembler et de se rendre à la dédicace de la statue élevée parle roi Nabuchodonosor.
3 Satraps, magistrates, governors, counsel ors, treasurers, judges, lawyers and al the provincialauthorities then assembled for the dedication of the statue set up by King Nebuchadnezzar and stood in front ofthe statue which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.	3 Lors s'assemblèrent satrapes, magistrats, gouverneurs, conseillers, trésoriers, juges et juristes ettoutes les autorités de la province pour la dédicace de la statue qu'avait élevée le roi Nabuchodonosor, et ils setinrent devant la statue qu'avait élevée le roi Nabuchodonosor.
4 A herald then loudly proclaimed: 'Peoples, nations, languages! Thus are you commanded:	4 Le héraut proclama avec force: "A vous, peuples, nations et langues, voici ce qui a été commandé:
5 the moment you hear the sound of horn, pipe, lyre, zither, harp, bagpipe and every other kind ofinstrument, you wil prostrate yourselves and worship the golden statue set up by King Nebuchadnezzar.	5 à l'instant où vous entendrez sonner trompe, pipeau, cithare, sambuque, psaltérion, cornemuse ettoute espèce de musique, vous vous prosternerez et ferez adoration à la statue d'or qu'a élevée le roiNabuchodonosor.
6 Anyone who does not prostrate himself and worship wil immediately be thrown into the burning fieryfurnace.'	6 Quant à celui qui ne se prosternera ni ne fera adoration, il sera incontinent jeté dans la fournaise defeu ardent."
7 And so, the instant al the peoples heard the sound of horn, pipe, lyre, zither, harp, bagpipe and al theother instruments, al the peoples, nations and languages prostrated themselves and worshipped the statue setup by King Nebuchadnezzar.	7 Sur quoi, dès que tous les peuples eurent entendu sonner trompe, pipeau, cithare, sambuque,psaltérion, cornemuse et toute espèce de musique, se prosternèrent tous les peuples, nations et langues, faisantadoration à la statue d'or qu'avait élevée le roi Nabuchodonosor.
8 Some Chaldaeans then came forward and maliciously accused the Jews.	8 Cependant certains Chaldéens s'en vinrent dénoncer les Juifs.
9 They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, 'May Your Majesty live for ever!	9 Ils dirent au roi Nabuchodonosor: "O roi, vis à jamais!
10 You have issued a decree, Your Majesty, to the effect that everyone on hearing the sound of horn,pipe, lyre, zither, harp, bagpipe and every other kind of instrument is to prostrate himself and worship the goldenstatue;	10 O roi, tu as promulgué un décret prescrivant à tout homme qui entendrait sonner trompe, pipeau,cithare, sambuque, psaltérion, cornemuse et toute espèce de musique, de se prosterner et de faire adoration à lastatue d'or,
11 and that anyone who does not prostrate himself and worship is to be thrown into the burning fieryfurnace.	11 et arrêtant que ceux qui ne se prosterneraient ni ne feraient adoration seraient jetés dans la fournaisede feu ardent.
12 Now, there are certain Jews to whom you have entrusted the affairs of the province of Babylon:Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego; these men have ignored your command, Your Majesty; they do not serveyour gods, and refuse to worship the golden statue you have set up.'	12 Or voici des Juifs que tu as assignés aux affaires de la province de Babylone: Shadrak, Méshak etAbed-Nego; ces gens n'ont pas tenu compte de tes ordres, ô roi; ils ne servent pas ton dieu et ils n'ont pas faitadoration à la statue d'or que tu as élevée."
13 Shaking with fury, Nebuchadnezzar sent for Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego. The men wereimmediately brought before the king.	13 Alors, frémissant de colère, Nabuchodonosor manda Shadrak, Méshak et Abed-Nego. Aussitôt onamena ces gens devant le roi.
14 Nebuchadnezzar addressed them, 'Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, is it true that you do notserve my gods, and that you refuse to worship the golden statue I have set up?	14 Et Nabuchodonosor leur dit: "Est-il vrai, Shadrak, Méshak et Abed-Nego, que vous ne serviez pointmes dieux et ne fassiez pas adoration à la statue d'or que j'ai élevée?
15 When you hear the sound of horn, pipe, lyre, zither, harp, bagpipe and every other kind of instrument,are you prepared to prostrate yourselves and worship the statue I have made? If you refuse to worship it, youwil be thrown forthwith into the burning fiery furnace; then which of the gods could save you from my power?'	15 Etes-vous disposés, quand vous entendrez sonner trompe, pipeau, cithare, sambuque, psaltérion,cornemuse et toute espèce de musique, à vous prosterner et à faire adoration à la statue que j'ai faite? Si vous nelui faites pas adoration, vous serez incontinent jetés dans la fournaise de feu ardent; et quel est le dieu qui vousdélivrerait de ma main?"
16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego replied to King Nebuchadnezzar, 'Your question needs noanswer from us:	16 Shadrak, Méshak et Abed-Nego répondirent au roi Nabuchodonosor: "Point n'est besoin pour nousde te donner réponse à ce sujet:
17 if our God, the one we serve, is able to save us from the burning fiery furnace and from your power,Your Majesty, he wil save us;	17 si notre Dieu, celui que nous servons, est capable de nous délivrer de la fournaise de feu ardent, etde ta main, ô roi, il nous délivrera;
18 and even if he does not, then you must know, Your Majesty, that we wil not serve your god or worshipthe statue you have set up.'	18 et s'il ne le fait pas, sache ô roi, que nous ne servirons pas ton dieu, ni n'adorerons la statue d'or quetu as élevée."
19 This infuriated King Nebuchadnezzar; his expression was changed now as he looked at Shadrach,Meshach and Abed-Nego. He gave orders for the furnace to be made seven times hotter than usual	19 Alors le roi Nabuchodonosor fut rempli de colère et l'expression de son visage changea à l'égard deShadrak, Méshak et Abed-Nego. Il donna ordre de chauffer la fournaise sept fois plus que d'ordinaire
20 and commanded certain stalwarts from his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego andthrow them into the burning fiery furnace.	20 et à des hommes forts de son armée de lier Shadrak, Méshak et Abed-Nego et de les jeter dans lafournaise de feu ardent.
21 They were then bound in their cloaks, trousers, headgear and other garments, and thrown into theburning fiery furnace.	21 Ceux-ci furent donc liés, avec leur manteau, leurs chausses, leur chapeau, tous leurs vêtements, etjetés dans la fournaise de feu ardent.
22 The king's command was so urgent and the heat of the furnace was so fierce, that the men carryingShadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego were burnt to death by the flames from the fire;	22 L'ordre du roi était péremptoire; la fournaise étant excessivement brûlante, les hommes qui yportèrent Shadrak, Méshak et Abed-Nego furent brûlés à mort par la flamme du feu.
23 the three men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego fel , bound, into the burning fiery furnace.	23 Quant aux trois hommes Shadrak, Méshak et Abed-Nego, ils tombèrent tout liés dans la fournaisede feu ardent.
24 And they walked in the heart of the flames, praising God and blessing the Lord.	24 Et ils marchaient au milieu de la flamme, louant Dieu et bénissant le Seigneur.
25 Azariah stood in the heart of the fire, praying aloud thus:	25 Azarias, debout, priait ainsi, ouvrant la bouche, au milieu du feu, il dit:
26 May you be blessed and revered, Lord, God of our ancestors, may your name be held glorious forever.	26 Béni sois-tu, Seigneur, Dieu de nos pères, et vénéré, et que ton nom soit glorifié éternellement.
27 For you are upright in al that you have done for us, al your deeds are true, all your ways right, al yourjudgements true.	27 Car tu es juste en toutes les choses que tu as faites pour nous toutes tes oeuvres sont vérité toutes tesvoies droites, tous tes jugements vérité.
28 True is the sentence you have given in al that you have brought down on us and on Jerusalem, theholy city of our ancestors, for you have treated us rightly and truly, as our sins deserve.	28 Tu as porté une sentence de vérité en toutes les choses que tu as fait venir sur nous et sur la villesainte de nos pères, Jérusalem. Car c'est dans la vérité et dans le droit que tu nous as traités à cause de nospéchés.
29 Yes, we have sinned and committed a crime by deserting you, yes, we have greatly sinned; we havenot listened to your commandments,	29 Oui, nous avons péché et commis l'iniquité en te désertant, oui, nous avons grandement péché; tescommandements, nous ne les avons pas écoutés,
30 we have not observed them, we have not done what you commanded us to do for our own good.	30 nous ne les avons pas observés, nous n'avons pas accompli ce qui nous était commandé pour notrebien.
31 Yes, al that you have brought down on us, al that you have done to us, you have been ful y justifiedin doing.	31 Oui, tout ce que tu as fait venir sur nous, tout ce que tu nous as fait, en jugement de vérité tu l'asfait.
32 You have handed us over to our enemies, to a lawless people, the worst of the godless, to an unjustking, the worst in the whole world;	32 Tu nous as livrés aux mains de nos ennemis, gens sans loi, et les pires des impies, à un roi injuste,au plus mauvais qui soit sur toute la terre,
33 today we have no right to open our mouths, shame and dishonour are the lot of those who serve andworship you.	33 et aujourd'hui nous ne pouvons ouvrir la bouche, la honte et l'opprobre sont la part de ceux qui teservent et qui t'adorent.
34 Do not abandon us for ever, for the sake of your name; do not repudiate your covenant,	34 Oh! ne nous abandonne pas pour toujours, à cause de ton nom, ne répudie pas ton alliance,
35 do not withdraw your favour from us, for the sake of Abraham, your friend, of Isaac, your servant, andof Israel, your holy one,	35 ne nous retire pas ta grâce, pour l'amour d'Abraham ton ami et d'Isaac ton serviteur et d'Israël tonsaint,
36 to whom you promised to make their descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as the grainsof sand on the seashore.	36 à qui tu as promis une postérité nombreuse comme les étoiles du ciel et comme le sable sur le rivagede la mer.
37 Lord, we have become the least of al nations, we are put to shame today throughout the world,because of our sins.	37 Seigneur, nous voici plus petits que toutes les nations, nous voici humiliés par toute la terre,aujourd'hui, à cause de nos péchés.
38 We now have no leader, no prophet, no prince, no burnt offering, no sacrifice, no oblation, no incense,no place where we can make offerings to you	38 Il n'est plus, en ce temps, chef, prophète ni prince, holocauste, sacrifice, oblation ni encens, lieu oùte faire des offrandes
39 and win your favour. But may the contrite soul, the humbled spirit, be as acceptable to you	39 et trouver grâce auprès de toi. Mais qu'une âme brisée et un esprit humilié soient agréés de toi,
40 as burnt offerings of rams and bullocks, as thousands of fat lambs: such let our sacrifice be to youtoday, and may it please you that we fol ow you whole-heartedly, since those who trust in you wil not beshamed.	40 comme des holocaustes de béliers et de taureaux, comme des milliers d'agneaux gras; que tel soitnotre sacrifice aujourd'hui devant toi, et qu'il te plaise que pleinement nous te suivions, car il n'est point deconfusion pour ceux qui espèrent en toi.
41 And now we put our whole heart into fol owing you, into fearing you and seeking your face once more.	41 Et maintenant nous mettons tout notre coeur à te suivre, à te craindre et à rechercher ta face.
42 Do not abandon us to shame but treat us in accordance with your gentleness, in accordance with thegreatness of your mercy.	42 Ne nous laisse pas dans la honte, mais agis avec nous selon ta mansuétude et selon la grandeur de tagrâce.
43 Rescue us in accordance with your wonderful deeds and win fresh glory for your name, O Lord.	43 Délivre-nous selon tes oeuvres merveilleuses, fais qu'à ton nom, Seigneur, gloire soit rendue.
44 Confusion seize al who il -treat your servants: may they be covered with shame, deprived of al theirpower, and may their strength be broken.	44 Qu'ils soient confondus, tous ceux qui font du mal à tes serviteurs: qu'ils soient couverts de honte,privés de toute leur puissance, et que leur force soit brisée.
45 Let them learn that you alone are God and Lord, glorious over the whole world.	45 Qu'ils sachent que tu es seul Dieu et Seigneur, en gloire sur toute la terre."
46 Al this time, the king's servants, who had thrown them into the furnace, had been stoking it with crudeoil, pitch, tow and brushwood	46 Les serviteurs du roi qui les avaient jetés dans la fournaise ne cessaient d'alimenter le feu de naphte,de poix, d'étoupe et de sarments,
47 until the flames rose forty-nine cubits above the furnace	47 si bien que la flamme s'élevait de 49 coudées au-dessus de la fournaise.
48 and, leaping out, burnt those Chaldaeans to death who were standing round it.	48 En s'étendant, elle brûla les Chaldéens qui se trouvaient autour de la fournaise.
49 But the angel of the Lord came down into the furnace beside Azariah and his companions; he drovethe flames of the fire outwards from the furnace	49 Mais l'ange du Seigneur descendit dans la fournaise auprès d'Azarias et de ses compagnons; ilrepoussa au-dehors la flamme du feu
50 and, in the heart of the furnace, wafted a coolness to them as of the breeze and dew, so that the firedid not touch them at al and caused them no pain or distress.	50 et il leur souffla, au milieu de la fournaise, comme une fraîcheur de brise et de rosée, si bien que lefeu ne les toucha aucunement et ne leur causa douleur ni angoisse.
51 Then al three in unison began to sing, glorifying and blessing God in the furnace, with the words:	51 Alors tous trois, d'une seule voix, se mirent à chanter, glorifiant et bénissant Dieu dans la fournaise,et disant:
52 May you be blessed, Lord, God of our ancestors, be praised and extol ed for ever. Blessed be yourglorious and holy name, praised and extol ed for ever.	52 "Béni sois-tu, Seigneur, Dieu de nos pères, loué sois-tu, exalté éternellement. Béni soit ton nom degloire et de sainteté, loué soit-il, exalté éternellement.
53 May you be blessed in the Temple of your sacred glory, exalted and glorified above all for ever:	53 Béni sois-tu dans le temple de ta sainte gloire, chanté, glorifié par-dessus tout éternellement.
54 blessed on the throne of your kingdom, exalted above al , glorified for ever:	54 Béni sois-tu sur le trône de ton royaume, chanté par-dessus tout, exalté éternellement.
55 blessed are you who fathom the abyss, enthroned on the winged creatures, praised and exaltedabove al for ever:	55 Béni sois-tu, toi qui sondes les abîmes, qui sièges sur les chérubins, loué, chanté par-dessus toutéternellement.
56 blessed in the expanse of the heavens, exalted and glorified for ever.	56 Béni sois-tu dans le firmament du ciel, chanté, glorifié éternellement.
57 Bless the Lord, al the Lord's creation: praise and glorify him for ever!	57 Vous toutes, oeuvres du Seigneur, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
58 Bless the Lord, angels of the Lord, praise and glorify him for ever!	58 Anges du Seigneur, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement
59 Bless the Lord, heavens, praise and glorify him for ever!	59 O cieux, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
60 Bless the Lord, al the waters above the heavens, praise and glorify him for ever!	60 O vous, toutes les eaux au-dessus du ciel, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
61 Bless the Lord, powers of the Lord, praise and glorify him for ever!	61 O vous, toutes les puissances, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
62 Bless the Lord, sun and moon, praise and glorify him for ever!	62 O vous, soleil et lune, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
63 Bless the Lord, stars of heaven, praise and glorify him for ever!	63 O vous, astres du ciel, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
64 Bless the Lord, al rain and dew, praise and glorify him for ever!	64 O vous toutes, pluies et rosées, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
65 Bless the Lord, every wind, praise and glorify him for ever!	65 O vous tous, vents, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
66 Bless the Lord, fire and heat, praise and glorify him for ever!	66 O vous, feu et ardeur, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
67 Bless the Lord, cold and warmth, praise and glorify him for ever!	67 O vous, froidure et ardeur, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
68 Bless the Lord, dew and snow-storm, praise and glorify him for ever!	68 O vous, rosées et giboulées, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
69 Bless the Lord, frost and cold, praise and glorify him for ever!	69 O vous, gel et froidure, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
70 Bless the Lord, ice and snow, praise and glorify him for ever!	70 O vous, glaces et neiges, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
71 Bless the Lord, nights and days, praise and glorify him for ever!	71 O vous, nuits et jours, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
72 Bless the Lord, light and darkness, praise and glorify him for ever!	72 O vous, lumière et ténèbre, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
73 Bless the Lord, lightning and cloud, praise and glorify him for ever!	73 O vous, éclairs et nuées, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
74 Let the earth bless the Lord: praise and glorify him for ever!	74 Que la terre bénisse le Seigneur: qu'elle le chante et l'exalte éternellement!
75 Bless the Lord, mountains and hills, praise and glorify him for ever!	75 O vous, montagnes et collines, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
76 Bless the Lord, every plant that grows, praise and glorify him for ever!	76 O vous, toutes choses germant sur la terre, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-leéternellement!
77 Bless the Lord, springs of water, praise and glorify him for ever!	77 O vous, sources, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
78 Bless the Lord, seas and rivers, praise and glorify him for ever!	78 O vous, mers et rivières, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
79 Bless the Lord, whales, and everything that moves in the waters, praise and glorify him for ever!	79 O vous, baleines et tout ce qui se meut dans les eaux, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-leéternellement!
80 Bless the Lord, every kind of bird, praise and glorify him for ever!	80 O vous tous, oiseaux du ciel, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
81 Bless the Lord, al animals wild and tame, praise and glorify him for ever!	81 O vous tous, bêtes et bestiaux, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
82 Bless the Lord, al the human race: praise and glorify him for ever!	82 O vous, enfants des hommes, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
83 Bless the Lord, O Israel, praise and glorify him for ever!	83 O Israël, bénis le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
84 Bless the Lord, priests, praise and glorify him for ever!	84 O vous, prêtres, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
85 Bless the Lord, his servants, praise and glorify him for ever!	85 O vous, ses serviteurs, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
86 Bless the Lord, spirits and souls of the upright, praise and glorify him for ever!	86 O vous, esprits et âmes des justes, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
87 Bless the Lord, faithful, humble-hearted people, praise and glorify him for ever!	87 O vous, saints et humbles de coeur, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement!
88 Hananiah, Azariah and Mishael, bless the Lord, praise and glorify him for ever!-For he has rescued usfrom the Underworld, he has saved us from the hand of Death, he has snatched us from the burning fieryfurnace, he has drawn us from the heart of the flame!	88 Ananias, Azarias, Misaël, bénissez le Seigneur: chantez-le, exaltez-le éternellement! Car il nous adélivrés des enfers, il nous a sauvés de la main de la mort, il nous a arrachés à la fournaise de flamme ardente, ilnous a tirés du milieu de la flamme.
89 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his love is everlasting.	89 Rendez grâces au Seigneur, car il est bon, car son amour est éternel.
90 Bless the Lord, the God of gods, al who fear him, give praise and thanks to him, for his love iseverlasting!	90 Vous tous qui le craignez, bénissez le Seigneur Dieu des dieux, chantez-le, rendez-lui grâces, carson amour est éternel."
91 King Nebuchadnezzar sprang to his feet in amazement. He said to his advisers, 'Did we not havethese three men thrown bound into the fire?' They answered the king, 'Certainly, Your Majesty'.	91 Alors le roi Nabuchodonosor s'émut et se leva en toute hâte. Il interrogea ses intimes: "N'avons-nous pas jeté ces trois hommes tout liés dans le feu?" Ils répondirent: "Assurément, ô roi."
92 'But', he went on, 'I can see four men walking free in the heart of the fire and quite unharmed! And thefourth looks like a child of the gods!'	92 Il dit: "Mais je vois quatre hommes en liberté qui se promènent dans le feu sans qu'il leur arrive demal, et le quatrième a l'aspect d'un fils des dieux."
93 Nebuchadnezzar approached the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and said, 'Shadrach, Meshachand Abed-Nego, servants of God Most High, come out, come here!' And from the heart of the fire out cameShadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego.	93 Nabuchodonosor s'approcha de l'ouverture de la fournaise de feu ardent et dit: "Shadrak, Méshak etAbed-Nego, serviteurs du Dieu Très-Haut, sortez et venez ici." Alors du milieu du feu sortirent Shadrak, Méshaket Abed-Nego.
94 The satraps, magistrates, governors, and advisers of the king crowded round the three men toexamine them: the fire had had no effect on their bodies: not a hair of their heads had been singed, their cloakswere not scorched, no smell of burning hung about them. Nebuchadnezzar said,	94 S'assemblèrent satrapes, magistrats, gouverneurs et intimes du roi pour voir ces hommes: le feun'avait pas eu de pouvoir sur leur corps, les cheveux de leur tête n'avaient pas été consumés, leur manteau n'avaitpas été altéré, nulle odeur de feu ne s'attachait à eux.
95 'Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego: he has sent his angel to rescue hisservants who, putting their trust in him, defied the order of the king, and preferred to forfeit their bodies ratherthan serve or worship any god but their God.	95 Nabuchodonosor dit: "Béni soit le Dieu de Shadrak, Méshak et Abed-Nego, qui a envoyé son angeet délivré ses serviteurs, eux qui, se confiant en lui, ont désobéi à l'ordre du roi et ont livré leur corps plutôt quede servir ou d'adorer tout autre dieu que leur Dieu.
96 I therefore decree as fol ows, "Peoples, nations, and languages! Let any of you speak disrespectful yof the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, and I shal have him torn limb from limb and his house turnedinto a dunghil ; for there is no other god who can save like this."
