1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	1 Il Signore parlommi, dicendo:
2 'Son of man, turn towards the Ammonites and prophesy against them.	2 Figliuolo dell'uomo, volgi la tua faccia contro i figliuoli di Ammon, e profeterai sopra di essi.
3 Say to the Ammonites, "Hear the word of the Lord Yahweh. The Lord Yahweh says this: "Since yougloated over my sanctuary when it was profaned, and over the land of Israel when it was ravaged, and over theHouse of Judah when it went into exile,	3 E dirai a' figliuoli di Ammon: Udite la parola del Signore Dio: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Perchè riguardo al mio santuario, che è stato profanato, e riguardo alla terra d'Israele, che è rimasa deserta, e riguardo alla casa di Giuda, menata in ischiavitù, tu hai detto: Bene sta, bene sta;
4 I shal let the sons of the East take possession of you; they wil pitch their camps inside you, they wilmake their home in you. They will be the ones to eat your produce and drink your milk.	4 Per questo darò io te in potere de' figliuoli d'Oriente, ed eglino collocheranno in te i loro ovili, e alzeranno le loro tende: ei mangeranno le tue biade, e beranno il tuo latte.
5 I shal turn Rabbah into a camel yard and the towns of Ammon into sheepfolds. And so you wil knowthat I am Yahweh.	5 E farò sì, che Rabbath diventi abitazione di cammelli, e la regione de' figliuoli di Ammon stalla di bestie: e conoscerete, ch'io sono il Signore.
6 "The Lord Yahweh says this: Since you have clapped your hands and danced for joy, ful of maliciousdelight at Israel's fate,	6 Perocché queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Perche tu hai battuto palma a palma, e hai tripudiato, e di tutto cuore ti se' rallegrato dello stato d'Israele,
7 my hand wil be against you for this; I shall hand you over to be looted by the peoples, obliterate youas a nation and wipe you out as a country. I shal reduce you to nothing, and you wil know that I am Yahweh.	7 Per questo, ecco, che io stenderò la mano mia sopra di te, e ti darò in preda alle genti, e ti torrò dal numero dei popoli, e ti sterminerò dalla faccia della terra, e ti stritolerò; e conoscerai, che son' io il Signore.
8 "The Lord Yahweh says this: "Since Moab and Seir have said: Look at the House of Judah; it is nodifferent from any other nation;	8 Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Perchè Moab, e Seir han detto: Ecco, che la casa di Giuda ella è come tutte le altre genti:
9 very wel , I shall expose Moab's heights; its cities will no longer be cities throughout the land -- thejewels of the country, Beth-Jeshimoth, Baal-Meon and Kiriathaim.	9 Per questo, ecco, che io nuderò il fianco di Moab dalla parte delle città, delle città io dico, che sono su' suoi confini le più celebri del paese Bethiesimoth, e Beelmeon e Canathaim,
10 I shal let the sons of the East and the Ammonites take possession of them, so that they wil nolonger be remembered by the nations.	10 A' figliuoli dell'Oriente (aprirò il fianco di Moab) come de' figliuoli di Ammon, e a quelli darò il dominio di Moab, talmente che non rimarrà tralle nazioni memoria de' figliuoli di Ammon.
11 I shal bring Moab to justice, and they will know that I am Yahweh.	11 E farò vendetta di Moab; e conosceranno, che son' io il Signore.
12 "The Lord Yahweh says this: "Since Edom has taken revenge on the House of Judah and committedgreat crimes in doing so,	12 Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Perchè l'Idumea ha voluto vendicarsi de' figliuoli di Giuda, e senza ritegno ha peccato per desio di vendetta,
13 very well, the Lord Yahweh says this: My hand wil be against Edom and denude it of human andanimal. I shal lay it waste, from Teman as far as Dedan they wil be put to the sword.	13 Per questo così dice il Signore Dio: Io stenderò la mia mano sopra dell'Idumea, e ne sterminerò gli uomini, e i giumenti, e la renderò deserta dalla parte di mezzodì; e que', che si trovano in Dedan, periranno di spada.
14 I shal take vengeance on Edom by means of my people Israel. They wil treat Edom as my angerand fury dictate, and they wil know this is my vengeance -- declares the Lord Yahweh.	14 E farò mie vendette dell'Idumea per le mani del mio popolo d'Israele, ed ei tratteranno Edom secondo l'ira mia, ed il mio furore: e conosceranno che son' io, che fo mia vendetta, dice il Signore Dio.
15 "The Lord Yahweh says this, "Since the Philistines have acted in revenge and, motivated by malice,have taken revenge, doing their best to destroy because of their long-standing hatred,	15 Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Perchè i Filistei han fatta vendetta, e con tutto l'animo si son vendicati, facendo stragi, e sfogando gli antichi sdegni;
16 very well, the Lord Yahweh says this: My hand wil be against the Philistines; I shal exterminate theCherethites and destroy the rest of the coastal peoples.	16 Per questo il Signore Dio parla così: Ecco, che io stenderò la mia mano contro de' Filistei, e ucciderò gli uccisori, e sterminerò gli avanzi del paese marittimo:
17 I shal perform frightful acts of vengeance and inflict furious punishments on them; and they will knowthat I am Yahweh, when I exact my vengeance on them." '	17 E vendetta grande prenderò sopra di loro, gastigandoli nel mio furore; e conosceranno, che son' io il Signore, quando mi sarò vendicato di essi.
