1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows:	1 Cette parole de Yahvé me fut adressée:
2 Son of man, how is the wood of the vine better than wood from the branch of a forest tree?	2 “Fils d’homme, le bois de la vigne vaudrait-il mieux que les autres bois, que les branches des arbres de la forêt?
3 Is its wood used for making anything? Are pegs on which to hang things made from it?	3 Prend-on du bois de vigne pour en fabriquer un objet? En fait-on une cheville pour y accrocher quelque chose?
4 There it is, thrown on the fire for fuel. The fire burns off both ends; the middle is charred; can it be keptfor anything now?	4 Pire encore s’il a été livré au feu: le feu en a dévoré les deux bouts, le milieu est brûlé, peut-on encore le travailler?
5 While it was intact, you could make nothing with it; burned and charred, is it any more useful now?	5 Déjà, quand il était entier, on ne pouvait rien en faire, combien plus maintenant qu’il est dévoré et brûlé par le feu.
6 So, the Lord Yahweh says this: As the wood of the vine among the forest trees, which I have thrownon the fire for fuel, so shal I treat the inhabitants of Jerusalem.	6 Écoutez donc ce que dit Yahvé: Je regarde les habitants de Jérusalem comme le bois de la vigne qu’on livre au feu avec les arbres sauvages.
7 I shal set my face against them. They have escaped one fire, but fire wil devour them yet. And youwil know that I am Yahweh, when I set my face against them.	7 Je vais tourner contre eux ma face: ils ont échappé au feu mais le feu les dévorera, et ils sauront que je suis Yahvé lorsque je tournerai contre eux mon visage.
8 I shal reduce the country to a desert, because of their infidelity- declares the Lord Yahweh.	8 Je ferai du pays un désert car ils ont été infidèles - parole de Yahvé.
