NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 And so the Lord has carried out the sentence which he passed on us, on our judges who governedIsrael, on our kings and leaders and on the people of Israel and of Judah;	1 Por eso el Señor Dios nuesro ha cumplido la palabra que había pronunciado contra nosotros, contra nuestros jueces que juzgaron a Israel, contra nuestros reyes y nuestros príncipes, contra los habitantes de Israel y de Judá.
2 what he did to Jerusalem has never been paral eled under the wide heavens -- in conformity with whatwas written in the Law of Moses;	2 Jamás se hizo debajo del cielo entero nada semejante a lo que hizo él en Jerusalén, conforme está escrito en la Ley de Moisés,
3 we were each reduced to eating the flesh of our own sons and daughters.	3 hasta el punto de que llegamos a comer uno la carne de su propio hijo, otro la carne de su propia hija.
4 Furthermore, he has handed them over into the power of all the kingdoms that surround us, to be thecontempt and execration of all the neighbouring peoples among whom the Lord scattered them.	4 Y los entregó el Señor en poder de todos los reinos de nuestro alrededor para que fuesen objeto de oprobio y maldición entre todos los pueblos circundantes donde el Señor los dispersó.
5 Instead of being masters, they found themselves enslaved, because we had sinned against the Lord ourGod by not listening to his voice.	5 Hemos pasado a estar debajo y no encima, por haber pecado contra el Señor Dios nuestro desoyendo su voz.
6 Saving justice is the Lord's; we and our ancestors have only the look of shame we bear today.	6 Al Señor Dios nuestro la justicia; a nosotros y a nuestros padres la confusión del rostro, como sucede en este día.
7 Al those disasters which the Lord pronounced against us have now befallen us.	7 Lo que el Señor había dicho contra nosotros, todos esos males nos han sobrevenido.
8 And yet we have not tried to win the favour of the Lord by each of us renouncing the dictates of our ownwicked heart;	8 Pero nosotros no hemos suplicado al rostro del Señor volviéndonos cada uno de los pensamientos de su perverso corazón.
9 so the Lord has been alert to our misdeeds and has brought disaster down on us, since the Lord isupright in everything he had commanded us to do,	9 Por eso el Señor ha estado atento a los males y los ha descargado el Señor sobre nosotros; porque es justo el Señor en todas las obras que nos ordenó;
10 and we have not listened to his voice so as to fol ow the commandments which the Lord had ordainedfor us.	10 y nosotros no hemos escuchado su voz siguiendo las órdenes que el Señor nos había puesto delante.
11 And now, Lord, God of Israel, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand, with signs andwonders, with great power and with outstretched arm, to win yourself a name such as you have today,	11 Y ahora, oh Señor, Dios de Israel, que sacaste a tu pueblo del país de Egipto con mano fuerte, entre señales y prodigios, con gran poder y tenso brazo, haciéndote así un nombre como se ve en este día,
12 we have sinned, we have committed sacrilege; Lord our God, we have broken al your precepts.	12 nosotros hemos pecado, hemos sido impíos, hemos cometido injusticia, Señor Dios nuestro, contra todos tus decretos.
13 Let your anger turn from us since we are no more than a little remnant among the nations where youhave dispersed us.	13 Que tu furor se retire de nosotros, porque hemos quedado bien pocos entre las naciones en medio de las cuales tú nos dispersaste.
14 Listen, Lord, to our prayers and our entreaties; deliver us for your own sake and let us win the favour ofthe people who have deported us,	14 Escucha, Señor, nuestra oración y nuestra súplica, líbranos por ti mismo, y haz que hallemos gracia a los ojos de los que nos deportaron,
15 so that the whole world may know that you are the Lord our God, since Israel and his descendantsbear your name.	15 para que sepa toda la tierra que tú eres el Señor Dios nuestro y que tu Nombre se invoca sobre Israel y sobre su raza.
16 Look down, Lord, from your holy dwel ing-place and think of us, bow your ear and listen,	16 Mira, Señor, desde tu santa Casa y piensa en nosotros; inclina, Señor, tu oído y escucha;
17 open your eyes, Lord, and look; the dead down in Sheol, whose breath has been taken from theirbodies, are not the ones to give glory and due recognition to the Lord;	17 abre, Señor, tus ojos y mira que no son los muertos en el seol, aquellos cuyo espíritu fue arrancado de sus entrañas, los que dan gloria y justicia al Señor,
18 whoever is overcome with affliction, who goes along bowed down and frail, with failing eyes andhungering soul, that is the one to give you glory and due recognition, Lord.	18 sino el alma comada de aflición, el que camina encorvado y extenuado, los ojos lánguidos y el alma hambrienta, esos son los que te dan gloria y justicia, Señor.
19 We do not rely on the merits of our ancestors and of our kings to offer you our humble plea, Lord ourGod.	19 No apoyados en las obras justas de nuestros padres y de nuestros reyes derramamos nuestra súplica de piedad ante tu rostro, oh Señor Dios nuestro.
20 No, you have sent down your anger and your fury on us, as you threatened through your servants theprophets when they said,	20 Porque has descargado sobre nosotros tu furor y tu ira, como habías hablado por medio de tus siervos los profetas diciendo diciendo:
21 'The Lord says this: Bend your necks and serve the king of Babylon, and you wil remain in the countrywhich I gave to your ancestors.	21 «Así dice el Señor: Doblegad vuestra espalda, servid al rey de Babilonia, y os asentaréis en la tierra que yo di a vuestros padres.
22 But if you do not listen to the voice of the Lord and serve the king of Babylon	22 Pero si no escucháis la invitación del Señor a servir al rey de Babilonia,
23 then I shal silence the shouts of rejoicing and mirth and the voices of bridegroom and bride in thetowns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, and the whole country will be reduced to desert, with noinhabitants.'	23 yo haré cesar en las ciudades de Judá y en Jerusalén el canto de alegría y el canto de alborozo, el canto del novio y el canto de la novia, y todo el país quedará hecho un desierto, sin habitantes».
24 But we would not listen to your voice and serve the king of Babylon, and so you carried out what youhad threatened through your servants the prophets: that the bones of our kings and of our ancestors would bedragged from their resting places.	24 Pero nosotros no escuchamos tu invitación de servir al rey de Babilonia, y tú entonces ha cumplido tus palabras, pronunciadas por medio de tus siervos los profetas: que los huesos de nuestros reyes y los huesos de nuestros padres serían sacados de sus sepulcros.
25 They were indeed tossed out to the heat of the day and the frost of the night. And people died indreadful agony, from famine, sword and plague.	25 Y he aquí que efectivamente yacen tirados por el suelo al calor del día y al frío de la noche; y ellos murieron en medio en medio de atroces sufrimientos,de hambre, de espada y de peste;
26 And so, because of the wickedness of the House of Israel and the House of Judah, you have madethis House, that bears your name, what it is today.	26 y la Casa sobre la que se invoca tu Nombre la has reducido al estado en que se encuentra en este día, a causa de la maldad de la casa de Israel y de la casa de Judá.
27 And yet, Lord our God, you have treated us in a way worthy of al your goodness and boundlesstenderness,	27 Sin embargo has obrado con nosotros, Señor Dios nuestro, según toda tu indulgencia y tu gran misericordia,
28 just as you had promised through your servant Moses, the day you told him to write your Law in thepresence of the Israelites, and said,	28 como habías hablado por medio de tu siervo Moisés, el día en que le ordenaste escribir tu Ley en presencia de los hijos de Israel, diciendo:
29 'If you do not listen to my voice, this great and innumerable multitude wil certainly be reduced to a tinyfew among the nations where I shal scatter them-	29 «Si no escucháis mi voz, esta misma grande, inmensa muchedumbre quedará reducida a un pequeño número en medio de las naciones donde yo los dispersaré.
30 for I knew that, being an obstinate people, they would not listen to me. But in the country of their exile,they will come to themselves	30 Pues bien sé que no me escucharán, porque es un pueblo de dura cerviz; pero se convertirán en sus corazones en el país de su destierro;
31 and acknowledge that I am the Lord their God. I shal give them a heart and an attentive ear,	31 y reconocerán entonces que yo soy el Señor su Dios. Yo les daré un corazón y unos oídos que oigan.
32 and they will sing my praises in the country of their exile, they will remember my name;	32 Y ellos me alabarán en el país de su destierro, se acordarán de mi nombre,
33 they wil stop being obstinate and, remembering what became of their ancestors who sinned before theLord, will turn from their evil deeds.	33 desistirán de su dura cerviz y de su perversa conducta acordándose de lo que les sucedió a sus padres que pecaron delante del Señor.
34 Then I shal bring them back to the country which I promised on oath to their ancestors Abraham, Isaacand Jacob, and make them masters in it. I shal make their numbers grow; they wil not dwindle again.	34 Yo les volveré a la tierra que bajo juramento prometí a sus padres, a Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, y tomarán posesión de ella. Los multiplicaré y ya no menguarán.
35 And I shal make an everlasting covenant with them; so that I am their God and they are my people.And never again shal I drive my people Israel out of the country which I have given them.'	35 Y estableceré con ellos una alianza eterna de ser yo su Dios y ser ellos mi pueblo, y no volveré a arrojar ya a mi pueblo Israel de la tierra que les di».
