Jeremiah 9

1 Who wil find me a wayfarer's shelter in the desert, for me to quit my people, and leave them far behind?For al of them are adulterers, a conspiracy of traitors.	1 Chi darà acqua alla mia testa, e agli occhi miei una fontana di lagrime, e piangerò di, e notte gli uccisi della figlia del popol mio?
2 They bend their tongues like a bow; not truth but falsehood holds sway in the land; yes, they go fromcrime to crime, but me they do not know, Yahweh declares.	2 Chi mi darà nella solitudine una capanna da viaggiatore, affinchè io lasci il mio popolo, e mi ritiri da costoro? perchè ei son tutti adulteri, turba di prevaricatori.
3 Let each be on his guard against his friend; do not trust a brother, for every brother aims but to supplant,and every friend is a peddler of slander.	3 E hanno stesa la loro lingua qual arco di menzogna, e non di verità. Ei si son fatti possenti sopra la terra, perchè da una malvagità son passati all'altra malvagità, e non han conosciuto me, dice il Signore.
4 Each one cheats his friend, never tel ing the truth; they have trained their tongues to lie and devote altheir energies to doing wrong.	4 Si guardi ognuno dal suo prossimo, e nissuno si fidi de' suoi fratelli, perchè ogni fratello farà il mestiero di traditore, e ogni amico ordirà frodi.
5 You live in a world of bad faith! Out of bad faith, they refuse to know me, Yahweh declares.	5 E ogni uomo si burlerà del proprio fratello, e non diranno mai verità; perocché hanno avvezzata la loro lingua alla bugia: si sono stancati a mal fare.
6 And, so, Yahweh Sabaoth declares, now I shal purge them and test them, no other way to treat thedaughter of my people!	6 Tu abiti in mezzo agli inganni; perchè aman gl'inganni; ricusano di conoscermi, dice il Signore.
7 Their tongue is a deadly arrow, their words are in bad faith; with his mouth each wishes his neighbourpeace, while in his heart plotting a trap for him.	7 Per questo tali cose dice il Signore degli eserciti: Io li metterò al fuoco, e farò saggio di essi: imperocché qual altra cosa farò io per la figlia del popol mio?
8 Shal I fail to punish them for this, Yahweh demands, or on such a nation fail to exact vengeance?	8 Saetta feritrice è la loro lingua, ella parla per ingannare: colla bocca annunzia pace al suo amico, e segretamente gli tende insidie.
9 I raise the wail and lament for the mountains, the dirge for the desert pastures, for they have been burnt:no one passes there, the sound of flocks is heard no more. Birds of the sky and animals, al have fled, al aregone.	9 Forse che io non punirò tali cose, dice il Signore? O non farà vendetta l'anima mia di un popol tale?
10 I shal make Jerusalem a heap of ruins, a lair for jackals, and the towns of Judah an uninhabitedwasteland.	10 Spargerò lagrime, e lamenti a causa dei monti, e piangerò deserto l'ameno paese; perche tutto è stato incendiato, e perchè nissuno è, che vi passi, e non vi si ode la voce de' padroni: dagli uccelli dell'aria sino ai giumenti tutto se n'è ito, e si è ritirato.
11 Who is wise enough to understand this? To whom has Yahweh's mouth spoken to explain it? Why isthe country annihilated, burnt like the desert where no one passes?	11 Ed io farò di Gerusalemme mucchi d'arena, e tane di dragoni: e le città di Giuda cangerò in deserti, né vi sarà chi le abiti.
12 Yahweh says, 'This is because they have forsaken my Law which I gave them and have not listened tomy voice or fol owed it,	12 Qual è l'uomo sapiente, che in tenda questo, e a cui faccia udire il Signore la Parola della sua bocca, affinchè annunzi il perchè sia andata in perdizione questa terra, e sia arsa come un deserto, talché nissuno vi passi?
13 but have followed their own stubborn hearts, have fol owed the Baals as their ancestors taught them.'	13 E il Signore disse: Perchè hanno abbandonata la mia legge, ch'io diedi loro, e non hanno udita la mia voce, e secondo questa non han camminato,
14 So Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, 'Now I shal give this people wormwood to eat andpoisoned water to drink.	14 E han seguitato il pravo lor cuore, e han seguitato Baalim, come insegnaron ad essi i padri loro;
15 I shal scatter them among nations unknown to their ancestors or to them; and I shal pursue them withthe sword until I have annihilated them.'	15 Per questo tali cose dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Ecco che io ciberò questo popolo di assenzio, e darò loro a bere acqua di fiele.
16 Yahweh Sabaoth says this, 'Prepare to cal for the mourning women! Send for those who are best at it!	16 E li dispergerò tralle nazioni, che erano ignote ad essi, e a' loro padri: e manderò dietro ad essi la spada fino a tanto che siano consunti.
17 Let them lose no time in raising the lament over us! Let our eyes rain tears, our eyelids run withweeping!	17 Queste cose dice il Signor degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Cercatevi, e chiamate delle piagnone, e vengano e mandate a invitare le più dotte, e si affrettino:
18 A lament makes itself heard in Zion, "What ruin is ours, what utter shame! For we must leave thecountry, our homes have been knocked down!" '	18 E presto intuonino lamentazioni sopra di noi, e spargano lagrime gli occhi nostri, e stillino acqua le nostre pupille.
19 Now listen, you women, to Yahweh's word, let your ears take in the word his own mouth speaks. Teachyour daughters how to wail and teach one another this dirge,	19 Imperocché voce di lamentazione si ode da Sion: Fino a qual segno siam noi disertati, e confusi altamente? Imperocché abbiam lasciata la nostra terra, le nostre abitazioni son diroccate.
20 'Death has climbed in at our windows, and made its way into our palaces; it has cut down the childrenin the street, the young people in the squares-	20 Udite adunque, o donne, la Parola del Signore, e le orecchie vostre ricevano ciò, che egli di sua bocca vi dice; e insegnate alle vostre figliuole; e ognuna alla sua vicina il carme lugubre, e dolente:
21 Speak! Yahweh declares this -- human corpses are strewn like dung in the open field, like sheaves leftby the reaper, with no one to gather them.'	21 La morte è salita per le nostre finestre, e entrata nelle nostre case, stermina dalle strade i fanciulli, e la gioventù dalle piazze.
22 Yahweh says this, 'Let the sage not boast of wisdom, nor the valiant of valour, nor the wealthy ofriches!	22 Tu dirai: Queste cose dice il Signore: I cadaveri degli uomini giaceranno pel paese sul suolo come lo sterco, e come le fila del fieno dietro le spalle di chi lo taglia, e nissun le raccoglie.
23 But let anyone who wants to boast, boast of this: of understanding and knowing me. For I am Yahweh,who acts with faithful love, justice, and uprightness on earth; yes, these are what please me,' Yahweh declares.	23 Queste cose dice il Signore: Non si glori il saggio della sua saggezza, e non si glori il valoroso del suo valore, e non si glori il ricco delle sue ricchezze.
24 'Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shal punish al who are circumcised only in theflesh:	24 Ma di questo si glori chiunque si gloria, di sapere, e conoscer me, perchè io sono il Signore, che fo misericordia, e giudico, e fo giustizia sulla terra. Imperocché queste cose piacciono a me dice il Signore.
25 Egypt, Judah, Edom, the Ammonites, Moab, and all the men with shaven temples who live in thedesert. For al those nations, and the whole House of Israel too, are uncircumcised at heart.'	25 Ecco che vengono i giorni, dice il Signore, quand'io visiterò tutti i circoncisi,
	26 L'Egitto, e Giuda, ed Edom, e i figliuoli di Ammon, e Moab, e tutti quelli, che portano i capelli tosati a modo di corona, abitanti del deserto: perocché tutte le genti sono incirconcise nel corpo, ma tutta la casa d'Israele sono incirconcisi di cuore.
