Jeremiah 9

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Who wil find me a wayfarer's shelter in the desert, for me to quit my people, and leave them far behind?For al of them are adulterers, a conspiracy of traitors.	1 Oh! fosse pur la mia testa acqua, e l’occhio mio una fonte di lagrime! io piangerei giorno e notte gli uccisi della figliuola del mio popolo.
2 They bend their tongues like a bow; not truth but falsehood holds sway in the land; yes, they go fromcrime to crime, but me they do not know, Yahweh declares.	2 Oh! avessi io pure un alberghetto da viandanti nel deserto! io lascerei il mio popolo, e me ne andrei via da loro; perciocchè essi tutti sono adulteri, una raunanza di disleali.
3 Let each be on his guard against his friend; do not trust a brother, for every brother aims but to supplant,and every friend is a peddler of slander.	3 E scoccano falsità dalla lor lingua, che è l’arco loro; e non si fortificano in verità nella terra; anzi procedono di male in male, e non mi conoscono, dice il Signore.
4 Each one cheats his friend, never tel ing the truth; they have trained their tongues to lie and devote altheir energies to doing wrong.	4 Guardatevi ciascuno dal suo compagno, e non vi fidate in alcun fratello; perciocchè ogni fratello non fa altro che usar frodi, ed ogni compagno va sparlando.
5 You live in a world of bad faith! Out of bad faith, they refuse to know me, Yahweh declares.	5 Ed ogni uomo gabba il suo compagno, e non parlano verità; hanno ammaestrata la lor lingua a parlar menzogna, si stancano a far male.
6 And, so, Yahweh Sabaoth declares, now I shal purge them and test them, no other way to treat thedaughter of my people!	6 La tua dimora è in mezzo di frodi; per frode ricusano di conoscermi, dice il Signore.
7 Their tongue is a deadly arrow, their words are in bad faith; with his mouth each wishes his neighbourpeace, while in his heart plotting a trap for him.	7 Perciò, così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Ecco, io li metterò al cimento, ed alla prova; perciocchè, come farei altrimenti, per amor della figliuola del mio popolo?
8 Shal I fail to punish them for this, Yahweh demands, or on such a nation fail to exact vengeance?	8 La lingua loro è una saetta tratta, parla frode; ciascuno con la sua bocca, parla di pace co’ suoi prossimi; ma nel loro interiore pongono insidie.
9 I raise the wail and lament for the mountains, the dirge for the desert pastures, for they have been burnt:no one passes there, the sound of flocks is heard no more. Birds of the sky and animals, al have fled, al aregone.	9 Non farei io punizion di loro per queste cose? dice il Signore; non vendicherebbesi l’anima mia d’una cotal gente?
10 I shal make Jerusalem a heap of ruins, a lair for jackals, and the towns of Judah an uninhabitedwasteland.	10 Io prenderò a far pianto, e rammarichio per questi monti, e lamento per le mandre del deserto; perciocchè sono arse, e non vi passa più alcuno, e non vi si ode più la voce del bestiame; e gli uccelli del cielo, e le bestie se ne son fuggite, e sono andate via.
11 Who is wise enough to understand this? To whom has Yahweh's mouth spoken to explain it? Why isthe country annihilated, burnt like the desert where no one passes?	11 Ed io ridurrò Gerusalemme in monti di ruine, in ricetto di sciacalli; e metterò le città di Giuda in desolazione, senza che alcuno abiti più in esse
12 Yahweh says, 'This is because they have forsaken my Law which I gave them and have not listened tomy voice or fol owed it,	12 Chi è l’uomo savio? sì, ponga mente a questo; e chi è colui, al quale la bocca del Signore abbia parlato? sì, annunzilo. Perchè è perita la terra, ed è stata desolata come un deserto, senza che alcuno vi passi più?
13 but have followed their own stubborn hearts, have fol owed the Baals as their ancestors taught them.'	13 Il Signore ha detto: Perciocchè han lasciata la mia Legge, che io avea lor proposta; e non hanno ascoltata la mia voce, e non son camminati secondo quella.
14 So Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, 'Now I shal give this people wormwood to eat andpoisoned water to drink.	14 Anzi sono andati dietro alla durezza del cuor loro, e dietro a’ Baali; il che i lor padri insegnarono loro.
15 I shal scatter them among nations unknown to their ancestors or to them; and I shal pursue them withthe sword until I have annihilated them.'	15 Perciò, così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele: Ecco, io ciberò questo popolo di assenzio, e l’abbevererò d’acqua di tosco.
16 Yahweh Sabaoth says this, 'Prepare to cal for the mourning women! Send for those who are best at it!	16 E li dispergerò fra genti, le quali nè essi, nè i lor padri, non han conosciute; e manderò dietro a loro la spada, finchè io li abbia consumati.
17 Let them lose no time in raising the lament over us! Let our eyes rain tears, our eyelids run withweeping!	17 Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Considerate, e chiamate delle lamentatrici, e fate che vengano; e mandate per delle più avvedute, che vengano; ed affrettinsi, e prendano a fare un rammarichio di noi;
18 A lament makes itself heard in Zion, "What ruin is ours, what utter shame! For we must leave thecountry, our homes have been knocked down!" '	18 e struggansi i nostri occhi in lagrime, e le nostre palpebre stillino acqua;
19 Now listen, you women, to Yahweh's word, let your ears take in the word his own mouth speaks. Teachyour daughters how to wail and teach one another this dirge,	19 perciocchè una voce di lamento è stata unita da Sion: Come siamo stati distrutti? noi siamo grandemente confusi; perciocchè abbiam lasciato il paese, e le nostre stanze ci hanno scacciati.
20 'Death has climbed in at our windows, and made its way into our palaces; it has cut down the childrenin the street, the young people in the squares-	20 Perciocchè, o donne, ascoltate la parola del Signore; e riceva il vostro orecchio la parola della sua bocca; ed insegnate dei rammarichii alle vostre figliuole, e de’ lamenti, ciascuna alla sua compagna.
21 Speak! Yahweh declares this -- human corpses are strewn like dung in the open field, like sheaves leftby the reaper, with no one to gather them.'	21 Perciocchè la morte è salita per le nostre finestre, è entrata ne’ nostri palazzi, per isterminare i piccoli fanciulli d’in su le strade, ed i giovani d’in su le piazze.
22 Yahweh says this, 'Let the sage not boast of wisdom, nor the valiant of valour, nor the wealthy ofriches!	22 Parla: Così ha detto il Signore: I corpi morti degli uomini ancora giaceranno come letame su per la campagna, e come una manella di spighe, lasciata indietro dal mietitore, la quale niuno raccoglie
23 But let anyone who wants to boast, boast of this: of understanding and knowing me. For I am Yahweh,who acts with faithful love, justice, and uprightness on earth; yes, these are what please me,' Yahweh declares.	23 Così ha detto il Signore: Il savio non si glorii della sua saviezza, e il forte non si glorii della sua forza, e il ricco non si glorii delle sue ricchezze;
24 'Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shal punish al who are circumcised only in theflesh:	24 ma chi si gloria gloriisi di questo, ch’egli ha intendimento, e conosce me; perciocchè io sono il Signore, che fo benignità, giudicio, e giustizia in terra; perciocchè, queste cose gradisco, dice il Signore.
25 Egypt, Judah, Edom, the Ammonites, Moab, and all the men with shaven temples who live in thedesert. For al those nations, and the whole House of Israel too, are uncircumcised at heart.'	25 Ecco, i giorni vengono, dice il Signore, che io farò punizione d’ogni circonciso che è incirconciso;
	26 d’Egitto, e di Giuda, e di Edom, e de’ figliuoli di Ammon, e di Moab, e di tutti quelli che si tondono i canti delle tempie, i quali abitano nel deserto; perciocchè tutte queste genti sono incirconcise; tutta la casa d’Israele ancora è incirconcisa di cuore
