1 The words of Yahweh that were addressed to the prophet Jeremiah against the nations.	1 - Parola del Signore comunicata a Geremia profeta contro le nazioni.
2 On Egypt. Against the army of Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt, which was at Carchemish on the RiverEuphrates when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated it in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, kingof Judah.	2 All'Egitto: contro l'esercito del Faraone Necao, re di Egitto, che era sull'Eufrate in Carcamis, e che Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia sconfisse, il quarto anno di Joachim, figlio di Josia re di Giuda.
3 Buckler and shield at the ready! Onward to battle!	3 «Preparate la targa e lo scudo, e movete alla guerra!
4 Harness the horses: into the saddle, horsemen! To your ranks! On with your helmets! Sharpen yourspears, put on your breastplates!	4 Aggiogate i cavalli, balzate in arcione, rizzate i cimieri, forbite le lance, indossate le corazze!
5 Why do I see them retreating, panic-stricken? Their heroes, beaten back, are fleeing headlong, with nota look behind. Terror on every side, Yahweh declares!	5 Come mai? li ho visti atterriti, e fuggenti voltar le spalle, uccisi i lor prodi; sono fuggiti precipitosi, e più non voltaron lo sguardo: il terrore è dappertutto dice il Signore.
6 No flight for the swift, no escape for the strong! Up in the north on the River Euphrates, they havecol apsed, have fal en.	6 Non tenti la fuga il veloce, non creda salvarsi il prode, a settentrione sull'Eufrate, sono stati sconfitti e sbaragliati.
7 Who was it rose like the Nile, his waters foaming like a torrent?	7 Chi è costui che qual fiumana sale? come onde di fiumi s'incalzan le sue onde?
8 Why, Egypt rose like the Nile, his waters foaming like a torrent. 'I shal rise', he said, 'and drown theearth; sweep away town and its inhabitants!	8 È l'Egitto che qual fiumana sale; come onde di fiumi le sue onde s'incalzano, e dice: - Salirò e sommergerò la terra, e volgerò le città coi suoi abitanti!
9 Charge, horses! Forward, chariots! Let the warriors advance, men from Cush and Put with shield inhand, men from Lud who bend the bow!'	9 Balzate in arcioni, saltate esultanti sulle quadrighe, si avanzino i prodi d'Etiopia e di Libia imbraccianti lo scudo, i Lidi che impugnano il dardo, che sono lanciatori di saette! -
10 For this is the Day of Lord Yahweh Sabaoth, a day of vengeance when he takes revenge on his foes:the sword wil devour until gorged, until drunk with their blood, for Lord Yahweh Sabaoth is holding a sacrificialfeast in the land of the north, on the River Euphrates.	10 Ma quel giorno sarà il giorno del Signore degli eserciti, giorno di vendetta, in cui farà scontare la pena ai suoi nemici; la spada divorerà, si sazierà e s'inebrierà del loro sangue; perchè sarà l'ecatombe del Signore, Dio degli eserciti, nella terra del settentrione, presso il fiume Eufrate.
11 Go up to Gilead and fetch balm, virgin daughter of Egypt! You multiply remedies in vain, nothing cancure you!	11 Sali in Galaad, procurati del balsamo, o vergine figlia d'Egitto, invano tu moltiplichi i medicamenti, non c'è più rimedio per te.
12 The nations have heard of your shame, your wailing fil s the world, for warrior has stumbled againstwarrior, and both have fal en together.	12 Le genti hanno udito la tua ignominia, e il tuo strido ha riempito la terra; perchè il forte ha inciampato nel forte, ed entrambi sono stramazzati insieme».
13 The word that came from Yahweh to the prophet Jeremiah when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylonadvanced to attack Egypt.	13 La parola che il Signore disse a Geremia profeta, del come sarebbe venuto Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, e avrebbe percossa la terra di Egitto.
14 Publish it in Egypt, proclaim it in Migdol, proclaim it in Noph and Tahpanhes! Say, 'Stand your ground,be prepared, for the sword is devouring al round you!'	14 «Pubblicatelo in Egitto, banditelo in Magdalo, e sia gridato in Memfi e in Tafnis dite: - Sta' sulle mosse e tienti preparato, perchè la spada divorerà ciò che ti sta d'intorno. -
15 Why has Apis fled? Why has your Mighty One not stood firm? Why, Yahweh has overturned him,	15 Come mai è infranto il tuo nerbo forte? non ha resistito perchè il Signore l'ha rovesciato.
16 he has caused many to fal ! Fal ing over one another, they say, 'Up, and back to our own people, tothe country where we were born, away from the devastating sword!'	16 Sconfitte sopra sconfitte; son caduti gli uni sopra gli altri e dicono: - Su, ritorniamo al nostro popolo e alla nostra terra natale davanti alla spada desolatrice.-
17 They have given Pharaoh king of Egypt the nickname, 'Much-noise-but-he-lets-the-chance-slip-by'!	17 Chiamate il nome di Faraone, re di Egitto: "Il tempo ha menato lo scompiglio".
18 As I live, the King declares, whose name is Yahweh Sabaoth, he is coming, a very Tabor amongmountains, a Carmel high above the sea!	18 - Vivo io, dice il re, il cui nome è il Signore degli eserciti, che quale il Tabor sui monti e il Carmelo sul mare, tale esso verrà.
19 Get your bundle ready for exile, fair inhabitant of Egypt! Noph will be reduced to a desert, desolate,uninhabited.	19 Preparati il bagaglio per l'esilio, abitatrice figlia d'Egitto, perchè Memfi sarà ridotta in una solitudine e sarà abbandonata e resterà senza abitatori.
20 Egypt was a splendid heifer, but a gadfly from the north has settled on her.	20 Una vitella liscia e ben formata è l'Egitto, ma le verrà dal settentrione chi le farà sentire il pungolo.
21 The mercenaries she had with her, these too were like fattened calves: but they too have taken totheir heels, have al run away, not held their ground, for their day of disaster has overtaken them, their time forbeing punished.	21 Anche i suoi mercenari, che stavano in mezzo ad essa come vitelli pasciuti alla greppia, si sono voltati e hanno preso insieme la fuga; non poterono resistere, perchè era sopraggiunto il giorno della loro uccisione, il tempo della loro visita.
22 Hear her hissing like a snake as they advance in force to fal on her with their axes, like woodcutters,	22 Come un cozzare di bronzi, la sua voce risuona: perchè con tutto l'esercito s'avanzeranno, se ne verranno armati di scuri, come i tagliatori di legna.
23 they wil fell her forest, Yahweh declares, however impenetrable it was for they are more numerousthan locusts, there is no counting them.	23 Tagliarono il suo bosco, dice il Signore, dalle piante innumerabili, si addensarono più che le locuste e in copia senza numero.
24 The daughter of Egypt is put to shame, handed over to a people from the north.	24 La figlia di Egitto è rimasta confusa, ed è stata data in mano al popolo del settentrione.-
25 Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, has said, 'Look, I shal punish Amon of No, Pharaoh, Egypt, its gods,its kings, Pharaoh and those who put their trust in him.	25 Il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele, l'ha detto: - Ecco ch'io verrò a visitare Amon di Tebe, e Faraone, e l'Egitto e i suoi dèi e i suoi re; Faraone con quelli che in lui confidano.
26 I shal hand him over to those who are determined to kil him, to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, tohis generals. But afterwards, Egypt wil be inhabited again as in the past, Yahweh declares.	26 E li darò in mano di coloro che vanno in cerca della loro vita e in mano di Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia, e in mano di quei che lo servono, e poi dopo questo sarà abitata come nei giorni antichi, dice il Signore.
27 But do not be afraid, my servant Jacob, Israel, do not be alarmed: for look, I shal rescue you fromafar and your descendants from the country where they are captive. Jacob wil return and be at peace, secure,with no one to trouble him.	27 E tu, Giacobbe servo mio, non temere, non stare in paura, o Israele, perchè son qui io, che ti ritrarrò in salvo dal luogo lontano, e il tuo seme dalla terra della tua schiavitù; e Giacobbe ritornerà, e sarà nella quiete e nella prosperità, senza più nessuno che gli metta spavento.
28 Do not be afraid, my servant Jacob, Yahweh declares, for I am with you: I shal make an end of al thenations where I have driven you, but I shal not make an end of you, I shal discipline you only as you deserve,not leaving you quite unpunished.	28 E tu, o Giacobbe servo mio, non temere, dice il Signore, perchè io sono con te; perchè io farò perire tutte le genti tra le quali ti aveva cacciato, ma te non lascerò perire; ti castigherò a regola di giustizia e non ti risparmierò, quasi che tu fossi innocente -».
