2 On Egypt. Against the army of Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt, which was at Carchemish on the RiverEuphrates when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated it in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, kingof Judah.	2 Egyiptomról. 5 Why do I see them retreating, panic-stricken? Their heroes, beaten back, are fleeing headlong, with nota look behind. Terror on every side, Yahweh declares!	5 De mit látok? Megrémülnek és meghátrálnak, hőseik összetörnek és futva menekülnek, hátra sem néznek; rettenet mindenfelől – mondja az Úr. –
6 No flight for the swift, no escape for the strong! Up in the north on the River Euphrates, they havecol apsed, have fal en.	6 Nem futhat el a gyors, és nem menekülhet meg a hős; északon, az Eufrátesz folyó mellett megbotlanak és elesnek.
7 Who was it rose like the Nile, his waters foaming like a torrent?	7 Ki ez, aki árad, mint a Nílus, vizei örvénylenek, mint a folyamok?
8 Why, Egypt rose like the Nile, his waters foaming like a torrent. 'I shal rise', he said, 'and drown theearth; sweep away town and its inhabitants!	8 Egyiptom árad, mint a Nílus, és vizei örvénylenek, mint a folyamok. 9 Charge, horses! Forward, chariots! Let the warriors advance, men from Cush and Put with shield inhand, men from Lud who bend the bow!'	9 Vágtassatok, lovak, és száguldjatok, kocsik! Vonuljanak ki a hősök: Kús és Pút, akik pajzsot ragadnak, a lúdiak, akik íjat ragadnak, és megfeszítik!
10 For this is the Day of Lord Yahweh Sabaoth, a day of vengeance when he takes revenge on his foes:the sword wil devour until gorged, until drunk with their blood, for Lord Yahweh Sabaoth is holding a sacrificialfeast in the land of the north, on the River Euphrates.	10 De az a nap az Úré, a Seregek Istenéé, a bosszú napja, hogy bosszút álljon ellenségein: emészt a kard, és jóllakik, megittasodik vérüktől; mert véresáldozat ez az Úrnak, a Seregek Istenének észak földjén, az Eufrátesz folyónál.
11 Go up to Gilead and fetch balm, virgin daughter of Egypt! You multiply remedies in vain, nothing cancure you!	11 Menj fel Gileádba, és hozz balzsamot, Egyiptom szűz leánya! Hiába szerzel sok orvosságot, sebed nem heged be.
12 The nations have heard of your shame, your wailing fil s the world, for warrior has stumbled againstwarrior, and both have fal en together.	12 Hallják a nemzetek gyalázatodat, és kiáltásod betölti a földet; mert hős hősbe botlik, együtt esnek el mindketten.«
13 The word that came from Yahweh to the prophet Jeremiah when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylonadvanced to attack Egypt.	13 Az ige, amelyet az Úr mondott Jeremiás prófétának arról, hogy eljön Nebukadnezár, Babilon királya, hogy megverje Egyiptom földjét.
14 Publish it in Egypt, proclaim it in Migdol, proclaim it in Noph and Tahpanhes! Say, 'Stand your ground,be prepared, for the sword is devouring al round you!'	14 »Hirdessétek Egyiptomban, és adjátok tudtul Migdolban, adjátok tudtul Memfiszben és Tafneszben! 15 Why has Apis fled? Why has your Mighty One not stood firm? Why, Yahweh has overturned him,	15 Miért dőlt le erős bikád? Nem tudott megállni, mert az Úr letaszította.
16 he has caused many to fal ! Fal ing over one another, they say, 'Up, and back to our own people, tothe country where we were born, away from the devastating sword!'	16 Megsokasította az elbukókat, rá is esett egyik a másikra, és így szóltak: ‘Kelj fel! Térjünk vissza népünkhöz és szülőföldünkre a pusztító kard elől!’
17 They have given Pharaoh king of Egypt the nickname, 'Much-noise-but-he-lets-the-chance-slip-by'!	17 Így hívták ott a fáraót, Egyiptom királyát: Lárma, aki elmulasztotta az alkalmat.
18 As I live, the King declares, whose name is Yahweh Sabaoth, he is coming, a very Tabor amongmountains, a Carmel high above the sea!	18 Amint igaz, hogy élek én – mondja a Király, akinek Seregek Ura a neve –, bizonyosan el fog jönni, mint ahogy a Tábor a hegyek közt van, és a Kármel a tenger mellett.

20 Egypt was a splendid heifer, but a gadfly from the north has settled on her.	20 Szépséges üsző Egyiptom, de bögöly jön rá északról.

23 they wil fell her forest, Yahweh declares, however impenetrable it was for they are more numerousthan locusts, there is no counting them.	23 Kivágják erdejét – mondja az Úr –, noha számba venni sem lehet; mert többen vannak, mint a sáskák, és számuk sincsen.
24 The daughter of Egypt is put to shame, handed over to a people from the north.	24 Megszégyenül Egyiptom leánya, észak népének kezébe kerül.«
25 Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, has said, 'Look, I shal punish Amon of No, Pharaoh, Egypt, its gods,its kings, Pharaoh and those who put their trust in him.	25 Ezt mondja a Seregek Ura, Izrael Istene: »Íme, én meglátogatom a Nóból való Ámont, a fáraót és Egyiptomot, isteneit és királyait; a fáraót és azokat, akik benne bíznak.
26 I shal hand him over to those who are determined to kil him, to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, tohis generals. But afterwards, Egypt wil be inhabited again as in the past, Yahweh declares.	26 Azok kezébe adom őket, akik életükre törnek: Nebukadnezárnak, Babilon királyának kezébe és szolgáinak kezébe. De azután úgy laknak majd ott, mint a hajdankor napjaiban – mondja az Úr. –
27 But do not be afraid, my servant Jacob, Israel, do not be alarmed: for look, I shal rescue you fromafar and your descendants from the country where they are captive. Jacob wil return and be at peace, secure,with no one to trouble him.	27 Te pedig ne félj, szolgám, Jákob, és ne rettegj, Izrael! Mert íme, én megszabadítalak téged a távolból, és ivadékaidat fogságuk földjéről; visszatér Jákob, és nyugalmat talál, gondtalanul él, és nem rémíti senki.
28 Do not be afraid, my servant Jacob, Yahweh declares, for I am with you: I shal make an end of al thenations where I have driven you, but I shal not make an end of you, I shal discipline you only as you deserve,not leaving you quite unpunished.	28 Te ne félj, szolgám, Jákob – mondja az Úr –, mert én veled vagyok. Mert véget vetek minden nemzetnek, ahová elűztelek téged, neked azonban nem vetek véget; csak megfenyítelek igazságosan, mert nem hagyhatlak egészen büntetés nélkül.«
