Jeremiah 16

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows:	1 La parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini:
2 'You are not to marry or have sons and daughters in this place.	2 "Non prenderti una moglie, non aver figli né figlie in questo luogo.
3 For Yahweh says this regarding the sons and daughters to be born in this place, about the motherswho give birth to them, and about the fathers who beget them in this land,	3 Così, infatti, dice il Signore contro i figli e contro le figlie generati in questo luogo e contro le loro madri che li hanno partoriti e contro i loro padri che li hanno generati in questo paese:
4 "They wil die of deadly diseases, unlamented and unburied; they will be like dung spread on theground; they wil meet their end by sword and famine, and their corpses wil be food for the birds of the sky andthe beasts of earth."	4 di morti orrende moriranno; non verranno lamentati né sepolti, saranno come letame sulla superficie del suolo, saranno sterminati con la spada e con la fame e i loro cadaveri saranno pasto per i volatili del cielo e per le bestie del paese.
5 'Yes, Yahweh says this, "Go into no house where there is mourning, do not go and lament or grievewith them; for I have withdrawn my peace from this people, Yahweh declares, and faithful love and pity too.	5 Sì, così dice il Signore: Non entrare nella casa del lutto e non partecipare al pianto né compiangerli, perché io ho ritirato la mia amicizia da questo popolo, oracolo del Signore, la pietà e la misericordia.
6 High or low, they wil die in this country, without burial or lament; there wil be no gashing, no shaving ofthe head for them.	6 Moriranno grandi e piccoli in questo paese; non saranno sepolti, né vi sarà pianto per essi e non si farà incisione né rasatura per essi.
7 No bread will be broken for the mourner to comfort him for the dead; no cup of consolation wil beoffered him for his father or his mother.	7 Non si spezzerà pane per chi è in lutto, per consolarlo della morte, neppure verseranno con loro il calice delle consolazioni per il proprio padre e per la propria madre.
8 "And do not enter a house where there is feasting, to sit with them and eat and drink.	8 Non entrare a sederti con loro nella casa del banchetto per mangiare e per bere.
9 For Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: In this place, before your eyes, in your own days, Iwil silence the shouts of rejoicing and mirth and the voices of bridegroom and bride.	9 Così, infatti, dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d'Israele: Eccomi a far cessare da questo luogo, sotto i vostri occhi e nei vostri giorni, la voce di giubilo e la voce della letizia, la voce dello sposo e la voce della sposa.
10 "When you tel these people this and they ask you: Why has Yahweh decreed such complete andtotal disaster for us? What have we done wrong? What sin have we committed against Yahweh our God?	10 Quando tu avrai annunciato a questo popolo tutte queste cose, allora ti diranno: "Perché il Signore ha pronunciato contro di noi tutte queste grandi malvagità e qual è la nostra iniquità e quali i nostri peccati che abbiamo commesso contro il Signore, nostro Dio?".
11 then you are to answer: It is because your ancestors abandoned me, Yahweh declares, and fol owedother gods, and served and worshipped them. They abandoned me and did not keep my Law.	11 Allora risponderai loro: Perché i vostri padri hanno abbandonato me, oracolo del Signore, e sono andati dietro altri dèi e li hanno serviti e si sono prostrati dinanzi a loro, mentre hanno abbandonato me e non hanno custodito la mia legge.
12 And you for your part have behaved even worse than your ancestors. Look, each of you fol ows hisown stubborn and wicked inclinations, without listening to me.	12 Voi, però, avete agito peggio dei vostri padri ed eccovi che seguite ciascuno la durezza del vostro cuore malvagio, senza ascoltarmi.
13 And so, I shal eject you from this country into a country unknown to you or to your ancestors, andthere you can serve other gods, day and night, for I shal show you no more favour."	13 Perciò vi farò scacciare da questo paese verso un paese che non conoscete, né voi né i vostri padri, e ivi servirete altri dèi giorno e notte, perché io non vi farò grazia!".
14 'Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when people wil no longer say, "As Yahweh lives whobrought the Israelites out of Egypt!"	14 "Pertanto, ecco, vengono giorni, oracolo del Signore, e non si dirà più: "Per la vita del Signore che fece ascendere i figli d'Israele dal paese d'Egitto",
15 but, "As Yahweh lives who brought the Israelites back from the land of the north and al the countriesto which he had driven them." I shal bring them back to the very soil I gave their ancestors.'	15 bensì: "Vivente il Signore, che ha fatto uscire i figli di Israele dal paese del nord e da tutti i paesi dove li aveva dispersi e li ha fatti ritornare sulla loro terra che aveva dato ai loro padri".
16 'Watch, I shal send for many fishermen, Yahweh declares, and these wil fish them up; next, I shalsend for many huntsmen, and these wil hunt them out of every mountain, every hil , and out of the holes in therocks.	16 Eccomi: io invierò molti pescatori, oracolo del Signore, e li pescheranno; e dopo ciò invierò molti cacciatori e li cacceranno da ogni monte e ogni colle e dalle fessure delle rocce.
17 For my eyes watch al their ways, these are not hidden from me, and their guilt does not escape mygaze.	17 Sì, i miei occhi sono su tutte le loro vie, non sono nascoste dinanzi a me, né può occultarsi la loro iniquità dinanzi agli occhi miei.
18 I shal requite their guilt and their sin twice over, since they have pol uted my country with thecarcases of their Horrors, and fil ed my heritage with their Abominations.'	18 Ma prima ricompenserò nel doppio la loro iniquità e i loro peccati perché hanno profanato la mia terra con i cadaveri del loro obbrobrio e con le loro abominazioni hanno riempito la mia eredità".
19 Yahweh, my strength, my stronghold, my refuge in time of distress! To you the nations wil come fromthe remotest parts of the earth and say, 'Our fathers inherited nothing but Delusion, Futility of no use whatever.	19 Signore, mia forza e mia fortezza, mio rifugio nel giorno dell'angustia, a te le nazioni verranno dall'estremità della terra e diranno: "Solo menzogna ereditarono i nostri padri, nullità e senza profitto".
20 Can human beings make their own gods? These are not gods at al !'	20 Può farsi l'uomo degli dèi mentre essi non sono dèi?
21 'Now listen, I will make them acknowledge, this time I wil make them acknowledge my hand and mymight; and then they wil know that Yahweh is my name.'	21 Per questo, eccomi: farò loro conoscere, questa volta, mostrerò loro la mia mano e la mia potenza, e conosceranno che il mio nome è il Signore!
