Jeremiah 16

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows:	1 La palabra de Yahveh me fue dirigida en estos términos:
2 'You are not to marry or have sons and daughters in this place.	2 No tomes mujer ni tengas hijos ni hijas en este lugar.
3 For Yahweh says this regarding the sons and daughters to be born in this place, about the motherswho give birth to them, and about the fathers who beget them in this land,	3 Que así dice Yahveh de los hijos e hijas nacidos en este lugar, de sus madres que los dieron a luz y de sus padres que los engendraron en esta tierra:
4 "They wil die of deadly diseases, unlamented and unburied; they will be like dung spread on theground; they wil meet their end by sword and famine, and their corpses wil be food for the birds of the sky andthe beasts of earth."	4 De muertes miserables morirán, sin que sean plañidos ni sepultados. Se volverán estiércol sobre la haz del suelo. Con espada y hambre serán acabados, y serán sus cadáveres pasto para las aves del cielo y las bestias de la tierra.
5 'Yes, Yahweh says this, "Go into no house where there is mourning, do not go and lament or grievewith them; for I have withdrawn my peace from this people, Yahweh declares, and faithful love and pity too.	5 Sí, así dice Yahveh: No entres en casa de duelo, ni vayas a plañir, ni les consueles; pues he retirado mi paz de este pueblo - oráculo de Yahveh - la merced y la compasión.
6 High or low, they wil die in this country, without burial or lament; there wil be no gashing, no shaving ofthe head for them.	6 Morirán grandes y chicos en esta tierra. No se les sepultará, ni nadie les plañirá, ni se arañarán ni se raparán por ellos,
7 No bread will be broken for the mourner to comfort him for the dead; no cup of consolation wil beoffered him for his father or his mother.	7 ni se partirá el pan al que está de luto para consolarle por el muerto, ni le darán a beber la taza consolatoria por su padre o por su madre.
8 "And do not enter a house where there is feasting, to sit with them and eat and drink.	8 Y en casa de convite tampoco entres a sentarte con ellos a comer y beber.
9 For Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: In this place, before your eyes, in your own days, Iwil silence the shouts of rejoicing and mirth and the voices of bridegroom and bride.	9 Que así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: He aquí que voy a hacer desaparecer de este lugar, a vuestros propios ojos y en vuestros días, toda voz de gozo y alegría, la voz del novio y la voz de la novia.
10 "When you tel these people this and they ask you: Why has Yahweh decreed such complete andtotal disaster for us? What have we done wrong? What sin have we committed against Yahweh our God?	10 Luego, cuando hayas comunicado a este pueblo todas estas palabras, y te digan: «¿Por qué ha pronunciado Yahveh contra nosotros toda esta gran desgracia? ¿cuál es nuestra culpa, y cuál nuestro pecado que hemos cometido contra Yahveh nuestro Dios?»,
11 then you are to answer: It is because your ancestors abandoned me, Yahweh declares, and fol owedother gods, and served and worshipped them. They abandoned me and did not keep my Law.	11 tú les dirás: «Es porque me dejaron vuestros padres - oráculo de Yahveh - y se fueron tras otros dioses y les sirvieron y adoraron, y a mí me dejaron, y mi Ley no guardaron.
12 And you for your part have behaved even worse than your ancestors. Look, each of you fol ows hisown stubborn and wicked inclinations, without listening to me.	12 Y vosotros mismos habéis hecho peor que vuestros padres, pues he aquí que va cada uno en pos de la dureza de su mal corazón, sin escucharme.
13 And so, I shal eject you from this country into a country unknown to you or to your ancestors, andthere you can serve other gods, day and night, for I shal show you no more favour."	13 Pero yo os echaré lejos de esta tierra, a otra que no habéis conocido vosotros ni vuestros padres, y serviréis allí a otros dioses día y noche, pues no os otorgaré perdón».
14 'Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when people wil no longer say, "As Yahweh lives whobrought the Israelites out of Egypt!"	14 En efecto, mirad que vienen días - oráculo de Yahveh - en que no se dirá más: «¡Por vida de Yahveh, que subió a los hijos de Israel de Egipto!»,
15 but, "As Yahweh lives who brought the Israelites back from the land of the north and al the countriesto which he had driven them." I shal bring them back to the very soil I gave their ancestors.'	15 sino: «¡Por vida de Yahveh, que subió a los hijos de Israel del país del norte, y de todos los países a donde los arrojara!» Pues yo los devolveré a su solar, que di a sus padres.
16 'Watch, I shal send for many fishermen, Yahweh declares, and these wil fish them up; next, I shalsend for many huntsmen, and these wil hunt them out of every mountain, every hil , and out of the holes in therocks.	16 He aquí que envío a muchos pescadores - oráculo de Yahveh - y los pescarán. Y luego de esto enviaré a muchos cazadores, y los cazarán de encima de cada monte y de cada cerro y de los resquicios de las peñas.
17 For my eyes watch al their ways, these are not hidden from me, and their guilt does not escape mygaze.	17 Porque mis ojos están puestos sobre todos sus caminos: no se me ocultan, ni se zafa su culpa de delante de mis ojos.
18 I shal requite their guilt and their sin twice over, since they have pol uted my country with thecarcases of their Horrors, and fil ed my heritage with their Abominations.'	18 Pagaré doblado por su culpa y su pecado, porque ellos execraron mi tierra con la carroña de sus Monstruos abominables, y de sus Abominaciones llenaron mi heredad.
19 Yahweh, my strength, my stronghold, my refuge in time of distress! To you the nations wil come fromthe remotest parts of the earth and say, 'Our fathers inherited nothing but Delusion, Futility of no use whatever.	19 ¡Oh Yahveh, mi fuerza y mi refuerzo, mi refugio en día de apuro! A ti las gentes vendrán de los confines de la tierra y dirán: ¡Luego Mentira recibieron de herencia nuestros padres, Vanidad y cosas sin provecho!
20 Can human beings make their own gods? These are not gods at al !'	20 ¿Es que va a hacerse el hombre dioses para sí? ¡aunque aquellos no son dioses!
21 'Now listen, I will make them acknowledge, this time I wil make them acknowledge my hand and mymight; and then they wil know that Yahweh is my name.'	21 Por tanto, he aquí que yo les hago conocer - esta vez sí - mi mano y mi poderío, y sabrán que mi nombre es Yahveh.
