Jeremiah 16

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows:	1 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:
2 'You are not to marry or have sons and daughters in this place.	2 No tomes para ti una mujer ni tengas hijos e hijas en este lugar.
3 For Yahweh says this regarding the sons and daughters to be born in this place, about the motherswho give birth to them, and about the fathers who beget them in this land,	3 Porque así habla el Señor acerca de los hijos y de las hijas que han nacido en este lugar, de las madres que los dan a luz y de los padres que los engendran en este país:
4 "They wil die of deadly diseases, unlamented and unburied; they will be like dung spread on theground; they wil meet their end by sword and famine, and their corpses wil be food for the birds of the sky andthe beasts of earth."	4 Ellos morirán de una muerte horrible y no serán llorados ni sepultados: se convertirán en estiércol sobre la superficie del suelo; serán exterminados por la espada y el hambre, y sus cadáveres serán pasto de las aves del cielo y de los animales de la tierra.
5 'Yes, Yahweh says this, "Go into no house where there is mourning, do not go and lament or grievewith them; for I have withdrawn my peace from this people, Yahweh declares, and faithful love and pity too.	5 Más aún, así habla el Señor: No entres en una casa donde hay un banquete fúnebre; no vayas a lamentarte ni te conduelas con ellos. Porque yo he retirado de este pueblo mi paz, la fidelidad y la compasión –oráculo del Señor–.
6 High or low, they wil die in this country, without burial or lament; there wil be no gashing, no shaving ofthe head for them.	6 Grandes y pequeños morirán en este país; no serán enterrados ni llorados, y nadie se hará incisiones ni se rapará la cabeza por ellos.
7 No bread will be broken for the mourner to comfort him for the dead; no cup of consolation wil beoffered him for his father or his mother.	7 No se partirá el pan para el que está de duelo, con el fin de consolarlo por el muerto, ni se le hará beber la copa del consuelo, por su padre o por madre.
8 "And do not enter a house where there is feasting, to sit with them and eat and drink.	8 No entres en la casa donde hay un festejo, para sentarte a la mesa con ellos a comer y beber.
9 For Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: In this place, before your eyes, in your own days, Iwil silence the shouts of rejoicing and mirth and the voices of bridegroom and bride.	9 Porque así habla el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: Yo haré desaparecer de este lugar, ante los ojos de ustedes y en sus propios días, el grito de alegría y el grito de júbilo, el canto del esposo y el canto de la esposa.
10 "When you tel these people this and they ask you: Why has Yahweh decreed such complete andtotal disaster for us? What have we done wrong? What sin have we committed against Yahweh our God?	10 Cuando tú anuncies a este pueblo todas estas cosas, ellos te dirán: «¿Por qué el Señor nos amenaza con esta calamidad tan grande? ¿Cuál es nuestra iniquidad, cuál es el pecado que hemos cometido contra el Señor, nuestro Dios?».
11 then you are to answer: It is because your ancestors abandoned me, Yahweh declares, and fol owedother gods, and served and worshipped them. They abandoned me and did not keep my Law.	11 Entonces tú les responderás: Es porque los padres de ustedes me han abandonado –oráculo del Señor– y han ido detrás de otros dioses, los han servido y se han postrado delante de ellos; me han abandonado a mí y no han observado mi Ley.
12 And you for your part have behaved even worse than your ancestors. Look, each of you fol ows hisown stubborn and wicked inclinations, without listening to me.	12 En cuanto a ustedes, han obrado peor que sus padres: cada uno sigue los impulsos de su corazón obstinado y perverso, sin escucharme a mí.
13 And so, I shal eject you from this country into a country unknown to you or to your ancestors, andthere you can serve other gods, day and night, for I shal show you no more favour."	13 Pero yo los arrojaré de esta tierra, a un país que ni ustedes ni sus padres han conocido, y allí servirán a otros dioses día y noche, porque no les tendré compasión.
14 'Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when people wil no longer say, "As Yahweh lives whobrought the Israelites out of Egypt!"	14 Por eso, llegarán los días –oráculo del Señor– en que no se dirá más: «Por la vida del Señor que hizo subir a los israelitas del país de Egipto»,
15 but, "As Yahweh lives who brought the Israelites back from the land of the north and al the countriesto which he had driven them." I shal bring them back to the very soil I gave their ancestors.'	15 sino más bien: «Por la vida del Señor que hizo subir a los israelitas del país del Norte y de todos los países adonde los había expulsado». Yo los haré volver a este suelo, que había dado a sus padres.
16 'Watch, I shal send for many fishermen, Yahweh declares, and these wil fish them up; next, I shalsend for many huntsmen, and these wil hunt them out of every mountain, every hil , and out of the holes in therocks.	16 Yo voy a enviar numerosos pescadores –oráculo del Señor– y ellos los pescarán; después de esto, enviaré numerosos cazadores que los cazarán por todas las montañas y colinas, y hasta en las hendiduras de las rocas.
17 For my eyes watch al their ways, these are not hidden from me, and their guilt does not escape mygaze.	17 Porque yo tengo los ojos fijos sobre todos sus caminos; ellos no se me ocultan, y su iniquidad no puede esconderse a mis ojos.
18 I shal requite their guilt and their sin twice over, since they have pol uted my country with thecarcases of their Horrors, and fil ed my heritage with their Abominations.'	18 Yo les pagaré el doble por su iniquidad y su pecado, porque ellos han profanado mi país con los cadáveres de sus ídolos y han llenado mi herencia con sus abominaciones.
19 Yahweh, my strength, my stronghold, my refuge in time of distress! To you the nations wil come fromthe remotest parts of the earth and say, 'Our fathers inherited nothing but Delusion, Futility of no use whatever.	19 Señor, mi fuerza y mi fortaleza, mi refugio en el día de la angustia, hacia ti vendrán las naciones desde los confines de la tierra, y dirán: «Sólo mentira heredaron nuestros padres, algo inútil, que no sirve para nada».
20 Can human beings make their own gods? These are not gods at al !'	20 ¿Puede el hombre fabricarse dioses? ¡Pero ellos no son dioses!
21 'Now listen, I will make them acknowledge, this time I wil make them acknowledge my hand and mymight; and then they wil know that Yahweh is my name.'	21 Por eso, yo les haré conocer, esta vez sí que les haré conocer mi mano y mi poder, y así sabrán que mi nombre es «Señor».
