NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Matos Soares
1 Yahweh said this to me, 'Go and buy a linen waistcloth and put it round your waist. But do not dip it inwater.'	1 Eis o que o Senhor me disse: Vai comprar para ti um cinto de linho e cinge-te com ele, mas não o metas na água.
2 And so, as Yahweh had ordered, I bought a waistcloth and put it round my waist.	2 Comprei um cinto, conforme a palavra do Senhor, e pu-lo à roda dos meus rins.
3 A second time the word of Yahweh came to me,	3 Foi-me dirigida segunda vez a palavra do Senhor:
4 'Take the waistcloth that you have bought and are wearing round your waist. Up, go to the Euphratesand hide it there in a hole in the rock.'	4 Toma o cinto que compraste, que tens à roda dos teus rins, e, levantando-te, vai ao Eufrates e esconde-o ali no buraco de uma pedra.
5 So I went and hid it by the Euphrates as Yahweh had ordered me.	5 Fui e escondi-o, junto do Eufrates, como o Senhor mo havia mandado.
6 A long time later, Yahweh said to me, 'Up, go to the Euphrates and fetch the waistcloth I ordered you tohide there.'	6 Passados muitos dias, disse-me o Senhor: Levanta-te, vai ao Eufrates e toma dali o cinto, que te mandei esconder lá.
7 So I went to the Euphrates, and I searched, and I took the waistcloth from the place where I had hiddenit. And there was the waistcloth ruined, no use for anything.	7 Fui ao Eufrates, procurei e tomei o cinto do lugar onde o tinha escondido; porém vi que o cinto já tinha apodrecido, de tal sorte que não servia para uso algum.
8 Then the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	8 Então o Senhor falou-me assim:
9 'Yahweh says this, "In the same way I shal ruin the pride of Judah, the immense pride of Jerusalem.	9 Eis o que diz o Senhor: Da mesma forma farei apodrecer a soberba de Judá, o grande orgulho de Jerusalém.
10 This evil people, these people who refuse to listen to my words, who fol ow their own stubborninclinations and run after other gods, serving and worshipping them -- this people wil become like this waistcloth,no good for anything.	10 Este povo perverso, que não quer ouvir as minhas palavras, que segue a obstinação do seu coração e vai após os deuses estranhos, para os servir e adorar, virá a ser como este cinto, que para nada serve.
11 For just as a waistcloth clings to a man's waist, so I made the whole House of Israel and the wholeHouse of Judah cling to me, Yahweh declares, to be my people, my glory, my honour and my pride. But theyhave not listened."	11 Assim como um cinto se liga aos rins dum homem, assim eu uni estreitamente comigo toda a casa de Israel e toda a casa de Judá, diz o Senhor, para que fossem o meu povo o meu renome, a minha honra e a minha glória. Mas (apesar disso) não me ouviram.
12 'You wil also say this to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Any jug can be fil ed with wine." And if they answer you, "Do you think we do not know that any jug can be fil ed with wine?"	12 Por isso lhes dirás estas palavras: Isto diz o Senhor Deus de Israel: Todas as vasilhas se encherão de vinho. Eles te responderão: Acaso ignoramos que (em vasilhas, anos abundantes) todas as vasilhas se encherão de vinho?
13 you are to say, "Yahweh says this: Look, I shal fil al the inhabitants of this country, the kings whooccupy the throne of David, the priests, the prophets and al the citizens of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.	13 E tu lhes dirás: Isto diz o Senhor: Eis que encherei de embriaguez todos os habitantes desta terra, os reis que se sentam sobre o trono de Davide, os sacerdotes, os profetas e todos os habitantes de Jerusalém;
14 Then I shal smash them one against the other, parents and children al together, Yahweh declares.Mercilessly, relentlessly, pitilessly, I shal destroy them." '	14 e despedaçá-los-ei uns contra os outros, os pais contra os filhos, diz o Senhor. Não perdoarei, não me aplacarei, não usarei de clemência para deixar de os destruir.
15 Listen and pay attention, do not be proud: Yahweh is speaking!	15 Ouvi, escutai, não vos ensoberbeçais, porque o Senhor falou.
16 Give glory to Yahweh your God before the darkness comes, before your feet stumble on the darkenedmountains. You hope for light, but he wil turn it to shadow dark as death, wil change it to blackness.	16 Dai glória ao Senhor vosso Deus (arrependei-vos) antes que sobrevenham as trevas (da tribulação), antes que tropecem vossos pés nas montanhas da noite; (então) esperáreis luz mas (o Senhor) mudá-la-á em sombra de morte, em escuridão.
17 If you do not listen to this warning, I shal weep in secret for your pride; my eyes wil weep bitterly andstream with tears, for Yahweh's flock is being led into captivity.	17 Se não ouvirdes isto, chorará a minha alma em segredo, por causa da vossa soberba; os meus olhos chorarão amargamente, derramarão abundantes lágrimas, por ser levado cativo o rebanho do Senhor.
18 Tel the king and the queen mother, 'Sit in a lower place, since your glorious crown has fal en fromyour head.	18 Diz ao rei e à rainha: Humilhai-vos sentai-vos no chão, porque a coroa da vossa glória caiu da vossa cabeça.
19 The towns of the Negeb are shut off with no one to give access to them. Al Judah has been deported,deported wholesale.'	19 As cidades do meio-dia estão fechadas, e não há quem as abra. Todo o (povo de) Judá é transferido, a deportação é geral.
20 Raise your eyes and look at these now coming from the north. Where is the flock once entrusted toyou, the flock which was your pride?	20 Levanta os olhos e vê os que chegam do Aquilão. Onde está (direis a Jerusalém) o rebanho que te foi confiado, as ovelhas da tua glória?
21 What wil you say when they come and punish you, you yourself having taught them? Against you, inthe lead, wil come your friends. Then will not anguish grip you as it grips a woman in labour?	21 Que dirás, quando Deus te der por senhores aqueles que preparaste para teus amantes? Acaso não te assaltarão dores como as duma mulher que está de parto?
22 And should you ask yourself, 'Why is al this happening to me?' it is because of your great guilt thatyour skirts have been pulled up and you have been manhandled.	22 E se disseres no teu coração: Por que me aconteceram estes males? - (fica sabendo que) por causa da multidão das tuas iniquidades foram levantadas as tuas vestes, maltratados os teus calcanhares.
23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? And you, can you do right, being soaccustomed to wrong?	23 Pode um (negro) Etíope mudar a sua pele, ou um leopardo as suas malhas? Podereis vós fazer o bem, vós que aprendestes a fazer o mal?
24 'I shall scatter you like chaff on the desert wind.	24 (Por isso, diz o Senhor): Eu os espalharei como a moinha, arrebatada pelo vento do deserto.
25 This is your share, the part allotted you, from me, Yahweh declares, because you have forgotten meand put your trust in Delusion.	25 Tal é a tua sorte (ó Jerusalém), a porção (ou paga) que te reservo, diz o Senhor, porque te esqueceste de mim e confiaste na mentira.
26 I am the one who pul s your skirts up over your face to let your shame be seen.	26 Por isso eu também levantarei as tuas vestes até sobre a tua face, e verão a tua vergonha.
27 Oh! Your adulteries, your shrieks of pleasure, your vile prostitution! On the hills, in the fields, I haveseen your Horrors. Jerusalem, disaster is coming for you! How much longer till you are made clean?'	27 Os teus adultérios, as tuas vozes lúbricas, a tua vergonhosa prostituição, as tuas abominações sobre os outeiros e no meio do campo, tudo isso observei. Ai de ti, Jerusalém! És impura! E até quando, ainda?
